'The Rock' to Anfield? LFC join the race for 'indispensable' 15m Gala star...

In his post-match press conference on Saturday, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that he was 'disappointed' with the two goals the Reds conceded against Norwich, and given the plethora of costly individual mistakes in the first five Premier League games, Rodgers' concern is understandable. Once again, a Martin Skrtel error led directly to an opposition goal, so it's hardly surprising that Liverpool continue to be linked with a January move for a central defender.

The latest centre-half to be linked with the club is Galatasaray star Semih Kaya, nicknamed 'The Rock' by fans.

According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are monitoring Kaya's situation, but Galatasaray vice-president Ali Durust is keen to stop the 21-year old from leaving the club. In response to questions about the defender's future, Durust said:

"Semih came from our youth academy. He is a valuable member of our squad. We didn't set an asking price for him. He is indispensable at the moment".

Durust also confirmed that Manchester United had made enquiries about the player, and Inter Milan are also reportedly interested.

Last season, Kaya - who is reportedly valued at £15m - played 30 games and was a key member of the championship-winning Galatasaray squad.

  5. Yes! Shawcross is the defender we should be chasing; reads danger well, tough as nails, young, and has prem experience.

  9. Coates must be proven to be not good enough b4 we look at other CD's, and so far he looks like he could do a good job now, with massive potential for the future.
Alas, we must also wait to see what (if any) funds our owners FSG are prepared to make available, without selling or loaning half our squad as compensation. That is our main imponderable right now.

  10. The key to our defensive woes is the return of Lucas, not breaking up a proven partnership.

We need to spend our entire transfer budget on a truly world class striker.

  11. He is too liable to make rash silly challenges that cost games. Not for me.

  12. It is nothing to do with if I like the Site or not. It is about being factual and about being fair. If you dont want people to challange you then thats fine. If somebody came on here and posted about this player or that player the club had been linked with then you would be the first to ask for evidence that we were interested. Over the last 3 months you have reported on posiible transfer targets from around the Globe with tenuous "a source in italy" type quotes. However much I have tried I have not been able to find the quotes at all. i dont think that other than Joe Allan when the deal was done any player mentioned on this site has actually signed. The speculation is unhelpful.
You have some extremely good and sensible posters on this site you also like everyone else have some poor ones. By being dictitorial over responses you will ultimately lose contributors and probably more importantly to you and your revenue stream as people will stop visiting. Hey you will probably castigate or ban me over this but you need to be fair

  14. Mamadou Sakho (PSG),Mehdi Benatia (Udinese) and Mats Hummell or Neven Subotic (B.Dortmund) is more stylish, tough and can assist or score the goal. Why we need to chasing the rock?If you smell what the rock is cooking,i think he cannot fit into LFC team.
