Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on PSV Eindhoven starlet Jurgen Locadia, who scored a 22-minute hat-trick on his league debut against KNV Beker last month.
Reports in Italy claim that Liverpool are watching the young striker, who broke a 43-year old record with his debut hat-trick, a feat that had not been achieved in the Eredivisie since 1969.
Locadia grabbed an assist in the Beker game, laying on a goal for another Liverpool target, Dries Mertens, who also grabbed a hat-trick in the same game.
The 19-year old is in superb goalscoring form at the moment; as well as the hat-trick, he scored 4 goals in a recent reserve game, so it's understandable why Liverpool are tracking the player.

if we could get both that would be amazing
ReplyDeletebeing as we are not going for what people call 'proven' players anymore, but instead looking for bargains (young and unfashionable nations), both of these players look like a good bet.
ReplyDeletei find it more exciting to be going for cheap young prospects, or turks, belgians or players from lesser known south american countries than trying to buy 'proven' english based players.
we just dont have the funds to compete for the javi martinez's or llorentes anymore so what other choice is there?
too many people talk about proven players, but they are just words that mean very little. we've seen many 'proven' players fall flat, and just as many cheap imports proving a big hit(newcastle's 2011 purchases).
We must be an exciting prospect for many young and 'unproven' players now that we are giving youth a chance. its not done arsenal any harm in the transfer market.

ReplyDeleteArsenal also pay their young players handsomely too and on top of that, without a title challenge in ages (partially due to the inconsistent nature of young players), they end up selling these players almost soon as they have developed as they want success. Fair enough, they have gotten a lot of money from those sales but I don't know if that is what you like about Arsenal in the transfer market. They have had puppies like Vela, Bendtner (52k)and Denilson on 50k per week and they were on the same wages as regular first teamer Kosc until he signed a new contract in the summer (to be fair, they also pay high for older squad players like Arshavin 80k and Squillaci 60k) . Now they have changed tact somewhat in the last two seasons, bringing in somewhat older players like Kosc, Arteta, Cazorla, Giroud, Poldi, etc. To their credit, quite a few of these older players have been good buys. They buy young players on the cheap but doesn't necessarily mean they pay them cheap wages but in their defence, they have had CL money coming in to justify spending such wages for young players. But we don't have CL money and FSG are in a period of frugality maybe, i.e., bringing costs down as we have a high wage bill for a club that isn't in CL as well as the shambles that was the spending under KK II. So we are in a somewhat different situation financially.
ReplyDeleteIn some ways it hasn't and has done Arsenal harm in the transfer market their youth-oriented policy with a sprinkling of older players (like Arshavin) but the ultimate admission of their failure in that regard is the shift to more older players in the last two seasons. Earned them loads of money but on the pitch, it has been disappointing to say the least, Wenger's years of buying young players.
