With a new scouting network now in place, Liverpool are scouring the globe for the world's most promising young players, and the latest starlet to catch the club's eye is Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye, who currently plays for Serie B side Sassuolo.
Who? I thought the same when I first heard his name, but according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla - formerly of Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport - Liverpool are keeping tabs on the 19 year old Ghana U20 striker.
On his website, Pedulla, who now works for SportItalia, a football TV show in Italy, wrote:
"Liverpool are very interested in Boakye, who is jointly owned by Juventus and Genoa, and the club is now following his progress closely"
Boakye joined Genoa in 2009, and made his first Serie A appearance in April 2010 against Livorno, against whom he scored a debut goal.
In June 2011, Boakye joined Sassuolo on a one-year loan deal, going on to score 12 goals in 34 appearances for the club.
Juventus signed the Ghanaian in July 2012 via a co-ownership deal with Genoa, and swiftly sent him back out on loan to Sassulo.
Perhaps inevitably, Manchester United are also interested in the youngster, and Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi confirmed this last year:
"He is very strong, and Manchester United have already asked me about him"

We would be mad to have any dealings with Italians who have sold us 100% crabs 100% of the time. Borini is not looking much at present either although our owners sold him to themselves.
