'What about Liverpool?' - Agent responds to LFC rumours about £25m attacker...

Josip Ilicic's agent has confirmed that the Reds have not made contact with Palermo over the possibility of a transfer during the January transfer window.

In an interview with Tuttomercato today, Amir Ruznic - Ilicic's Agent - was asked whether the Slovenia striker was on his way to Anfield in January. He responded:

"What about Liverpool?

"I have read something in the newspapers, but I know no more.

"About a possible transfer in January?

"I don't think it's a deal for the winter market."

At the end of 2011, Chelsea sent scouts to watch the Ilicic, and upon learning about interest from the rich London club, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini slapped a ridiculous £25 million transfer fee on the player (!), who originally cost the Sicilian club a mere £2.3.

Zamparini has a reputation as a tough negotiator, especially when dealing with rich clubs; indeed, recently, he forced Paris Saint Germain to pay £34.3 million for Argentine star Javier Pastore.

I think it's safe to assume that the 25m price tag for 23-year old Ilicic is wildly optimistic, but it may be a moot point anyway as Liverpool don't appear to be interested in the player.

(Finally, a Youtube compilation with decent music!)

  2. This is the problem when you want to make deal with Italian clubs.Don't forget before this happen to Dosena,Aquilani and Borini.Italian clubs will axe your next if they think you are rich clubs.Sometimes they will sell out injured players with overprice and add more demand. This is why Italian league never flourishing very well.
