  7. Giggs in their central midfield. We should choke their central midfield then, as Giggs is poor in a two-man central midfield. Confident we'll win this as its a big game and the Mancs have got no Vidic as well as are playing Giggs in central midfield.

  8. Van Persie only needs one half chance. I feel we will give him at least two half chances or a whole chance if you prefer.

  9. I find myself in agreement with Rodgers' selections a lot more than in recent years. Hopefully he continues with Borini through the middle and Suarez driving in from out wide.

The sooner that Coates can usurp Carragher from the squad, the better also.

  10. Jonjo Shelvey has been very impressive this season even without the brace on thursday. He seems to slot sright into this style of play and has a drive and understanding of the game that defies his years. I didn't rate him before but it'll be interesting to see how he Lucas and Allen link up. That's right I left Gerrard out....And What? :-)

  11. Rafeal and Evra are poor at the back also, and Ferdinand is not the man he once was. Combine that with the lack of athleticism in the middle of the pitch, and I'll keep on saying it - Man U are NOT that great!

As usual, they've got a number of matchwinners to cover the numerous failings throughout his team though.

Eitherways, I'm very optimistic about today's match!

  12. Shelvey, you silly naive fool!

  13. Grrr, we have been all over them and than Shelvey does something reckless like that

  14. I don't think evans really got hit. Embarrassment for getting crunched was the reason Evans stayed on the floor

    ReplyDelete
  15. Borini? I dunno........

    ReplyDelete
  16. Looking at it again Jonny Evans goes in TWO FOOTED and still gets crunched. Shocking red.

  17. we are clearly the better team

i would love it if we beat these guys with 10 men

come on suarez do your magic.

  18. Same thing I said before the game - they've got more matchwinners, we had a more balanced team.

Sub Henderson (more energy than Sahin) in for Borini and we can still dominate and win, if all goes well.

  19. I think he's being saved for the big games...

  20. Agreed....Gerrard needs to take a back seat from now on.....players should be picked on merit.....not reputations

  21. Agger + new contract = injured next game :(

  22. wonder how much ferguson payed the ref obvious dive and should have been a yellow for both players both went studs up every 50/50 call went to man u the ref was a joke

    ReplyDelete
  23. liverpool ended the game with 9 players, man u ended the game with 12...well done Mark Halsey.

  24. good game

    proud of the lads

    unlucky if u ask me

  25. What an absolute joke of a refereeing performance. I know they're only human, but there was too many mistakes. Let's list them in chronological order:
-Shelvey's red card (yellow at the most)
-Evans the cheating scum bag somehow not sent off for a worse challenge than Shelvey (at the same time!). If Shelvey was sent off, Evans definately had to go too
-Agger not given a penalty. Evans was all over him.
    -Valencia's penalty- he dived
-RVP's yellow card; DEFINITELY A RED CARD.
That's FIVE enormous calls that significantly helped united win the game. Liverpool were all over them, even with only ten men. The fact they actually went in front owes testament to Rodgers' persuasion to keep attacking. But yet, another win goes down the drain after a promising performance, and we are still with 0 league wins. This is so depressing. But, we can't blame anything on Rodgers. It's not his fault we don't have a striker, nor we got a red card, nor the referee put in a pathetic shift.

  26. I mean I seriously don't have enough words. It seems we are cursed. We get fcuked every time for different reasons. BR is probably going through hell now. We played very well but 5 games and 2 points? Hmm...don't know where will finish this season.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rodgers is cursed. Liverpool are playing better football now than at the same time last season, yet last season we were in the top 4 for the first few games. I really see Rodgers' vision. All we need is some more flair in our side, including a fecking striker Mr. John Henry.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We need one more pacey, scoring winger and 2 strikers to be back in europa after this season.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks. That's my status line at FB now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. in my opinion we have only played well in two games. against city and utd. the rest we were average at best.

    ReplyDelete
  31. still better than last year

    ReplyDelete
  32. We played well in 1st half agnst West Brom. We were a better team vs arsenal, man city, man utd, sunderland. IMO we played better football. Same old stuff though, same old. Last season we were btter team 90% of times and never won. We are cursed am telling ya.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I hope BR go easy with Borini. He is not that good and BR should not repeat mistakes that KD did (Keep playing your signings even when they dont perform). Borini just like Sahin should be on the bench and Suso or Morgan should start instead. Borini is injured now, hopefully we will see someone cementing his place.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You forgot about Evans' foul on Suarez in the box...
Too bad, if it was someone other than Suarez that went down it might have been given... Ref has no balls!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Agreed - Borini is struggling at the moment, and is being played out of position isn't really helping. That left wing spot is still up for grabs for anyone who wants it - cmon Assaidi - show us what you can do!

    ReplyDelete
  36. We need to get a prolific striker in the January sales. The build up play is good, chances are being created but we have the same problem as last season.Ever since FERNANDO TORRES went we can't score goals.
FSG needs to break the bank and get a proven top class forward. They should forget about age and go for a player that can put the finishing touches to good build up play.
The youth policy route that JOHN HENRY has gone down is a good way to go long term. But we need to address this situation now, not in a few years time.We have enough kids in our squad to fill a nursery. If the right player is over 25 and you've got to pay big money it has to be done.

  37. Cursed is right - we played well today, but again unlucky - played well against West Brom (particularly the first half), but still lost 3-0; a bit of it was bad luck, but also created some of the bad luck ourselves. Same with at home to City - we outplayed them and deserved to win, but we created our own curse by gifting Tevez the ball on a silver platter.

I think after the next three league matches we can really tell if we've improved under BR... last year it was against midtable/newly promoted teams like Norwich, Stoke, etc that we tended to play poorly against, and the players seem to only consistently play well against the top 6. If we can grab 7 points in the next 3 games (away to Norwich and Reading, at home to Stoke), then we can have some confidence going into the next 3, very difficult matches (Everton away, followed by Newcastle at home and then away to Chelsea)...

You can chalk two or three games down to bad luck, bad referring etc, or in our case the first 5 league games (granted we played 3 of them against last years top 4), but if after 8 games we're still at the bottom of the table, then we're in some serious trouble and we have to fix our luck ourselves.

  38. Shelvey has been diving in all season to be fair, me and a mate were only discussing this on Thursday. Red card waiting to happen, but Halsey really got it wrong today.

Let it go, book both players, or send both off.

We dominated today, even with a player less. It will turn around. Rodgers will bring us the success we crave.

Suarez fell a little too theatrically, but should have won a pen. Valencia went down ridiculously easily.

Games are decided week in / week out by bad refereeing decisions. Time fr technology? Having said that, Halsey is the best out there

  42. You got it right. I believe in BR and I think we will get better and better.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yup - just to clarify I am 100% behind Brendan Rogers and FSG as well, I just hope that we can just get an ounce of luck and perhaps some results in the next few games.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You're right re: Shelvey; even last season he was lunging into reckless tackles, but this is the first one he's been sent off for. Kind of reminds me of a very young Stevie G when he used to get sent off for rash tackles, but he was wise enough to realize this early and eliminate this from part of his game and become the legend that he is. Hopefully Shelvey can do the same, because although it shouldn't have been a red, he shouldn't be making that tackle in that part of the pitch and putting the ref in a position where he has to make that decision. I've seen Halsey send off John Terry for similar tackles.

    ReplyDelete
  45. how do you make out its better than last year on what basis better results no better fotball beinng played no thats my opinion but better than last year i would like to know what your opinion is with posts like that

    ReplyDelete
  46. totally agree we have been garbage at best if the players cannot self motavate them selves against city the champions and man ure what hope have we got for the rest of the season

    ReplyDelete
  47. All we need is a fox in the box. We have played well in every match so far but the the two problems at the moment are conceding silly goals and end product.

Fully behind Rodgers and FSG too but the likes of Suarez and Stevie need to start finding the back of the net regularly otherwise as you state, we will be in serious trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  48. So Agger injured again, what is new? Should we maybe have cashed in on him while we had the chance? Borini injured too. Our squad is to paper thin to deal with injuries. Anymore injuries and we are in major trouble.

I like Rodgers but the one mistake that might cost us dearly this season is letting Carroll go out on loan. He would have been the perfect fit for the match today but now we have to get on with what we have.

We are going to need someone to take the initiative to put the ball into the back of the net and regularly.

It is last season all over again. Dominate matches but fail to score only this season we are much more hopeless upfront than last season.

Get ready for a bumpy ride...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Great performance. Gut wrenching result. Ref was the difference today.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good performance, disappointing results but sadly its the same old story. Dominated the first half, still largely on top in the second, but not making the most of that.

It's an old cliche now saying that you've got to take your chances against Man U because no-ones better at winning when playing badly than they are but that's exactly what happened, they were poor, we were on top and couldn't make it count. If that dominance of games could convert into goals then the iffy penalty decisions that did and didn't happen would have been irrelevant.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes one performance every 6 games deserves a starting place every game...

    ReplyDelete
  52. mate, agger's penalty appeal was even more obviously a penalty

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ha, why is everyone forgetting Evans' foul on Agger in the box? He was completely smothering and pulling him with his arms, and Agger went down.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I didn't forget about. I'm a bit 50/50 about that one, Evans still got the ball, and Suarez made a bit of a meal of it

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think Man Utd fans were an absolute disgrace at that match.
-Only about half of them clapped during the ceremony
-13 minutes into the game, they start singing 'where's your famous munich chant'
-'If it wasn't for the scousers we could stand'
-'murderers' chants after the game. I know that was ignited by about 3 idiotic liverpool fans doing plane gestures, but that many people shouldn't be aggravated like that!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Huntelaar comes to mind when we talk about forgetting about age

    ReplyDelete
  57. Was at the game yesterday, we played really and BR is doing his best with the squad he has at present apart from it was obvious again and KD also persisted with the fact of playing G Johnson at LB. We can all see he's more dangerous going forward and should be playing as a winger. I like the way BR is mixing youth with experience and what an impact suso made in his first appearance at anfield in such a big game. The kid has great talent, the right attitude and clearly not fazed at 19yrs of age. Again like with sterling coming on the scene and making an impact, another kick in the teeth for downing.
Love to hear from fans who always thought downing would come good, never rated him even when he's was at boro.
Anyway it was a great match to watch and you can see we are getting better, the owners now need to back BR with some serious transfer funds. Mark Halsey had a really poor game and gave us nothing otherwise we would have taken man utd to the cleaners!!! Have to say paul scholes still looks a class act and his passing at times was world class like gerrard who was back to his old self yesterday after a run of bad form.
Now the big games are out of the way we should start to pic up 3 pts moving forward and hope agger's makes a rapid recovery.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well said Nick, i was at the game and had great view from the centre. The ref was a joke, it felt like he actually hated us and just wanted us to suffer and please sir alex. Felt for the team and BR......gerrard, suarez & suso stood out for me!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Been LB in the changing rooms....saving him for the mickeymouse cups games as he's too scared to express himself against premiership teams.

    Championship player....at best.

    ReplyDelete
  60. egg on my....egg on what? lol. Gerrard hasn't played well since we finished second in the league under Rafa.

an average of 3 good games in 130 appearances. All this Legend worshiping is a major factor in why LFC gets left behind. I suppose Carra should be in the team as well..........

    EGG....... ON....... MY........FACE....... LOL

    ReplyDelete
  61. Why was there no American presence at such an important match. Why could not Henry or Werner popped over for the weekend, it speaks volumes to me and many others here in Liverpool who were asking where they where at such an important game, or were they too preoccupied at the bottom of the league Red Sox, or oops I forgot the Red Sox fans are saying they never see them either.
Left us with no striker, crippling injuries and suspensions kicking in. Bottom 3 at the moment and the way it is going doesnt look like getting better. Maybe they thought a lynch mob was waiting for them.
I dont buy all that bull at the end of the match that Mr Touchy Feely Rodgers states either, he talks the talk but it is not happening on the pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Halsey is one of the fairest refs in the game, one man went off injured what was that to do with him, Johnson cripples Agger then fouls Valencia is that the fault of him too, Shelvey went in studs up, Evans eyes were on the ball, red card, get over it and stop making excuses, did Halsey sub Sterling and allow Evra into the game no, did Halsey pull the plug on the Clint Dempsey deal and leave the club with no strikers till January NO

    ReplyDelete
  63. He had a bad game. Should of booked Shelvey and Evra before the sending off. That would of set the tone of the game. And in the last minute liverpool should of had a free kick on the edge of the box when Suaraz was put on the floor. What does he do instead, Halsey thought that a team with 9 players and one player on the floor and no one in the box has more of an advantage than having a free box where we can put more men in the box for a goalscoring opportunity. My first comment was tongue and cheek but his decision making for me cost us the game.
