Transfer shock? LFC 'offered' £13m chance to sign Brazil striker. Take it!

Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Brazilian attacker Leandro Damiao.

According to Sami Mokbel, a football reporter for The Daily Mail, Liverpool are 'weighing up' the opportunity to sign the Internacional striker:

"LFC weighing up Leandro Damiao. Been offered the option of season long loan at cost of £3m.

"Option to sign him on perm for £13m next summer.

"LFC would need to make a quick decision on Damiao, though. Paperwork issues means completing deal would take longer than usual.

"Not saying it's defo going to happen but #lfc have been offered him"

I'm sure most fans would love for this to happen, but I doubt a deal will go through. It seems unlikely that Internacional would let him go so cheaply, especially after Spurs had an 18m bid rejected a few days ago. Reacting to Spurs' bid, Internacional President Luciano Davi said:

"Tottenham came to us but their offer didn't match our valuation of him. Leandro Damiao is a national team striker and we have to value that. Our intention is that Damiao doesn't leave this year"

Having said that, surely a season-long loan for £3m is a no-brainer, and if the ultimate asking price is, say £20m next summer, there's plenty of time for LFC to raise the cash.

After all the fake Brazilians at Anfield, a real, attacking Brazilian would be fantastic ;-)

Damiao has scored 70 goals in 116 games for Internacional.

  2. Transfer deadline day - not for the faint hearted!  Hopefully, there's substance to this, and if LFC don't jump at the chance to sign him it will be a friggin' travesty.

Tottenham tried their best to sign this guy and his club made it clear that they won't let him go.

  10. Dempsey is at Melwood as we speak, and Huntelaar arrived in liverpool last night so this seems more realistic ....

  11. You think our board has the ability to get a transfer like this through in one day when they can't manage one with weeks and weeks of pondering over it? Won't happen .

    ReplyDelete
  12. If this is true, then this would be amazing!!!! I think if I could pick any striker to join Liverpool, he would probably be in the top 3 of my choices. Not including well known European ones of course.
He was quality at the Olympics, and I put a bet on him being top scorer!!! PLEASE BE TRUE!

  13. Liverpool need two strikers not just one, we have needed one for 18 months now at least. This should have been sorted long ago, It is a joke really!!!. FSG have been far too slow to get the striker we need, I agree with balancing the books but for crying out loud!

  22. If what you are saying is true and LFC atlast signs both of them..trust me that would be the best signings made today by any clubs....plus Damiao on loan would be an icing on cake..
but i doubt we would land huntelaar or Damiao :( heart-breaking :( I seriously dont want CLint dempsey..Gaston Ramirez wud hav been better :(

  23. Oh Allah if this happens ill be smiling all day. Fingers crossed hopefully there is some substance to these news, mirror, tribal football have reported that Livpool have entered talks.

  25. Ramirez better than Dempsey? Are you sure? Dempsey is a hungry footballer. Hungry to win and prove himself on the big stage. Ramirez is hungry for his pay cheque.

  27. I dont know about dempsey do you think hes good enough I just see his record unless the got it wrong which was 184 games and 50 league goals for fulham.

  28. pls sign him , if him come was a great news . Cause LFC didnt sign a world class player seen last 2 year.

  29. We needed to get someone in before 1200hrs i believe to be available for Sunday, It's 1238hrs and naff all is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  30. He's definitely good enough. And remember, he's not a striker; he's sided midfielder, and he scored all those goals playing in a team full of standard premier league players.

    ReplyDelete
  31. On the plus side, hopefully we'll finally see Assaidi and Sahin in action :-)

    ReplyDelete
  32. If we sign this guy, I'll run down the street naked...

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'll do that wearing a Darth Vadar mask and flip flops!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Regs often go in a while before the deal is announced. Esp on last day of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  35. While I agree he is good enough, its often the case when teams play just through one player, that player scores lots. Man utd do this every year, RVN, then he left, CR7, then he left, then Rooney etc. I don`t think its always safe to say it reflects on the player more the system they use.

As I said though I would like Dempsey at Liverpool

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed, while Gaston is good, he also looks lazy, and not imo as good as Dempsey is right now. Gaston does have time on his side though, and im sure will become amazing, however right now we need players for now. We have loads of good ones for the years ahead, but if you don`t compete these players move on as soon as they get good. This is the problem Arsenal face every year.

Don.t get me wrong Dempsey would be ok but this would be fantastic, this guy can play football and is young strong and wants to make a name for himself, hopefully Lucas can ring him and have a chat, JK surely you can find out more whether or not this has any real substance, please.

iverpool have decided to proceed to the signing of Brazilian international striker Leandro Damiao, player Internacional de Porto Alegre. According to the Brazilian press, the Reds want to quickly close the player by presenting a proposal for loan, advancing to the final hiring in the end the season. values involved in this business link to five million euros for divestiture, joining 15 million others in the season finale.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Six million to spend, assuming what we brought in today is available, and once again, the board have spent all transfer window with their thumbs up their arses, let a striker and two (admittedly ccrap) midfuelders go at the end and are now going to get fleeced AGAIN for an overrated player who will lose his scoring touch the second the ink dries on the contract.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am an LFC fan and take it from me Liverpool have fallen so far behind the big guns of the Premier League that its going to take ten years or more to get back into the top four - its no good looking through rose tinted glasses - we will not sign anybody on deadline day and will finish in the bottom half of the league for the first time in my living memory - we will struggle to score goals all season and will not improve on last seasons finish- hard to say but thats how far we have fallen and still dropping i am afraid to say - should have brought a world class striker and Dempsy with the budget and may have had outside chance of top four finish - Dempsey for £6 Million and Falcao for £25-30 million and recouped money with Carroll sale and Adam and Spearing - with Downing for and Shelvey put out for bids too. Then we could have gone for Allen in the Summer. The Scouse Pie

    ReplyDelete
  68. on what planet does Falcao cost 25-30 million, athletico bought him for 40million and hes only improved since then

    ReplyDelete
  69. Now we know that the cupboard is bare and why AVB and Martinez wouldnt touch us.

No transfer kitty and cut the wages. It will be along hard season!

  72. tom is a very big lair and so is b rogers i am a lfc fan and i am very piss off they say top 4 this season is a must but tis is where will finish 10 in the league and he be gone ihave been a lfc fan for a long time but now getting very piss off with their lies just thinking of supporing another club now and i say their are hunreds of fans out there doing the same

    ReplyDelete
  73. You think that all Brazilians should play with flair? That shows just how naive you are. Lucas is in the mould of Dunga, does much the same job as Dunga did and Dunga was world class, so is Lucas

    ReplyDelete
  74. Why are you pissed off and why do you want FSG out? Because they aren't putting in more money than the club makes? I have been a LFC fan for a long time too and I want Liverpool back at the top, but it's going to take awhile. Rodgers said all along he wanted to bring in 3-4 players this window, which he has delivered. In fact, he has brought in 5 players. Two of the being strikers. People like you want superstar names, if you were that big of a fan, you would realise that some of our biggest players we have gotten as no names. That way they are easier to mould into the Liverpool way. And as for finishing 10th, don't be so ridiculous. I don't think 4th is a realistic goal for this season, I think 5th or 6th certainly is though, we are building something for the future and that takes time and patience. FSG are the right people for the job, they know what it takes to take a side that flatters to deceive, move on some of their biggest wage earners and then after a short few years, turn them into champions. They did this with Boston Red Sox. They are doing the exact same with us, it just takes a little more time because of a couple of reasons, one being H&G, another being the managers put in place up til now, Hodgson and Dalglish were not the right men and pushed us backwards and although there are exceptions to this rule, their signings were either horrible or underperformed. Rodgers is the right man for the job, FSG are the right men for the job. We will see glory days again, but sustained success requires time, it doesn't happen overnight

    ReplyDelete
  75. You do realise that the players we have brought in this transfer window, the 5 of them, are 2 midfielders, Allen and Sahin, two class midfielders, a winger, Assaidi, who is a seasoned performer in Holland and was hunted by Ajax and Galatasary to name a few, and two strikers, Borini and the young lad from Leverkusen Yesil. Rodgers has done everything he has come out and said he would do, sign 3-4 players in the trasnfer window, he has signed 5, he's played his cards close to his chest, has specifically stated that most of the players linked with us by the media are false and that we haven't even looked at the majority of them, and he has also said that we won't be held ransom by any clubs or players, Sigurdsson held us ransom, we stepped away, Fulham held us to ransom over Dempsey and we stepped away. We more than likely won't make the top 4 this season, but we will certainly be thereabouts. In FSG and BR I trust

    ReplyDelete
  76. I am upset i was hoping for FSG to just give BR a bit more for a proven goal scorer, i think that BR is doing a great job and believe me i was not sure about him at the start, we really need to be consistant with the way we go about business now (on the pitch) so we give ourselfs the best chance at being up there at the end. I am hoping that with the players brought in, we can do the job, we need to see what Sahin, Assaidi can do for us, for me if Allen can continue the way his going he will be huge for us, good to see Morgan and Sterling playing and as much as i wanted a another striker (with a proven record) i am looking forward to see what we can acheive with the players we got. Hopefully in January we can get Damiao or Huntlar (spelling) and imo Sissoko wouldalso be nice, maybe wishful thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  77. In the same mould as dung maybe ? Dung is shit right ?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Signed five, we let more than that go just yesterday alone, we've lost more than 12 players over the summer. Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, Luis Suarez. Outstanding in Holland, apparently, distinctly underwhelming here and before you start raving about Suarez, fancy footwork with no end result.
Everyone was raving about Kenny's signings last summer, and look how that turned out.
Can't stand Benitez, but at least if he'd replaced Kenny, he'd have been on SSN this morning telling it how it is.
Sahin is only on loan. Allen will be sold on to Chelsea in a couple of years for profit, Borini's just garbage, Assaidi(?), if he's any good, same as Allen, if not gone next summer and the 18 yo, disappear without trace after a season in the reserves, destined to spend the next five years away on loan.
FSG won't pay the going rate on wages. They're trying to run the club like the Red Sox and their fans aren't happy, either.
Where is all the money from these "record breaking" sponsorship deals going? Not on transfers. What we spent this summer is less than we were paying out in interest payments three seasons ago and we still had a bigger transfer budget then than we do now.
You telling me that Everton are financially better off than we are?

    ReplyDelete
  79. WE WOULD HAVE THE MONEY, IF WE WERE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, TO BUY NEW PLAYERS, BUT SADLY WE ARE NOT, MAYBE ANDY CARROLL WILL SCORE, TWENTY GOALS FOR WEST HAM, THEN WE CAN SELL HIM FOR THIRTY MILL, HA, HA, JOKE,

    ReplyDelete
  80. the yanks aint interested in liverpool its all about making money,,a disgrace how they think we can compete with the top teams in the league without buying a striker,,the honeymoon peroid is over the yanks will start showing there true characters ,,gilliet and hicks where the same havent a clue about football, seriously having let carroll go sold kuyt aquil adam and spearing and slashed 20 million off the wage bill they refuse to give BR 6 million to buy dempsey,,same story as last year we,ll struggle to score goals and it wont be BR,s fault it will be because of the failure to give him the money for dempsey,,he,ll probably loss his job and spurs having bought dempsey will finish in fourth spot and we,ll miss out on a 25 million pound windfall from the champions league because two pricks are only interested in selling liverpool as a marketing brand,,,,

    ReplyDelete
  81. is that why the red socks have slid into the bottom of baseball and havent won a game in 13 ,,,one year they won the major because funding was giving to buy one player at 40 million followed by 20 30 and 24 million pound players ,,,

    ReplyDelete
  82. Shit? Which is why we missed him so much when he got injured last year. Which is why he was named our player of the season the previous season. He most certainly is world class, just because he doesn't have the flair of some of the other Brazilians, doesn't mean he isn't world class.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Borini garbage? Have you actually seen him play? He had a cracker against Man City. Just because he hasn't scored 10 goals so far this season, to you, he is crap. As far as players going out, we didn't lose Ryan Babel this past summer, so that is another mistake you have made. Dirk Kuyt, although a great servant for the club, is getting on and didn't fit into the style of play, as well as getting mistreated last season by KD. BR uses youngsters, unlike Roy or Kenny, he's already shown that by playing Sterling and Morgan. As far as FSG go and your question to where is all the money from these record breaking sponsorship deals going? Paying staff wages, paying for the advertising campaigns, they are millions just there, unfortunately, you only see the small picture and think all the money should go into the team, but it's not just a team, it's a club, which means a lot of behind the scenes work going on, what you see when the team runs out is the proverbial tip of the iceberg, and whether you want it to or not, everyone that does the behind the scenes work, from the board members all the way down to the cleaners need to get paid and that is where the majority of the money we bring in with the sponsorship deals is going.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yeah, but the certain coaching style got stale, so they sacked the head coach, and by the way, the Red Sox won more than one, they won two and up until last season, consistently made the playoffs, which means they were either the top team in their division or the top of the rest of the teams that didn't finish first, being the wild card. Last season, they were plagued by injuries and a lack of form and sacked their coach. They are hardly the bottom of baseball though. If the MLB was set up like the EPL, with their wins-loss ratio, they would be sitting around mid-table. Which if you were to study the MLB, you would realise that 95% of the teams go through cycles where for a couple of seasons, they don't win.

    ReplyDelete
  85. The yanks as you put it, are interested in the club, they don't want to put the club in debt like the last owners, and if you haven't heard, there is a new rule coming into effect over the next couple of seasons where clubs that spend outside of their means will in relation to profit will be penalised, so they are looking out for our future, and we have a lot of talented youngsters in the academy and reserves, maybe they can see that and want to promote them rather than pay exhorbitant amounts for high name players who may be flops, they have already been stung by that.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh and by the way, you say that it will be the same as last season where we won't score goals, you do realise that last year, they gave Kenny 100m to spend and he blew it. And that very first sentence makes no sense whatsoever. Of course they are interested in making money, every single owner of a football club is the same, and because of that, they are interested in Liverpool and want them to do well. If you say that they are only interested in making money, then they would much rather sell a club that are close to the top of the table than a club that is towards the bottom of the table, that would sell for a lot less than one near the top of the table. Selling Liverpool as a marketing brand as you put it would sell for a lot more if Liverpool were near the top of the table and playing in the CL than mid table or near the bottom. And think about it. They give Kenny and Comolli 100m to spend and they waste the money and we end up in 8th, so we miss out on the 25m pound windfall. Fool

    ReplyDelete
  87. Missed him ? League form stayed about the same , but we did get to two cup finals . He's a liability and has been since we signed him

    ReplyDelete
  88. and that has what to do with liverpool,,,,

    ReplyDelete
  89. come on clint dempsey would of cost 6 million hardly putting us into debt,,,and as i said 20 million was slashed off our yearly wage bill maybe you looked over that point,,,

    ReplyDelete
  90. you really havent a clue ya prick ,,,i agree with yanksout ur talking the biggest pile of rubbish,,the argument was about the yanks refusing the buy of dempsey and has nothing to do with rambling on and on about 100s of millions they refused us a 6 million pound player while letting or only other striker out on loan dickhead

    ReplyDelete
  91. Kuyt/Babel/Suraez is a reference to how overrated the Dutch league is not when they were shifted out of the club. Borini is garbage. He has one decent game out of the 7 we've played and he's quality?
Those wages, bills etc were larger three years ago, we had less income and an interest bill of £50M a year. The wage bill is a helluva alot less now, there are significantly less staff and what advertising? The club makes enough in match day revenue to cover 'behind the scenes' wages, so that doesn't wash either or have they all had 1000% rises since the new sponsorship deals?
Don't have a problem with BR, Kenny or Roy Hodgson for that matter, but I'd be willing to bet that Kenny got sacked because he had the same opinion of FSG as I do and he told them so.
As I write this, we're 30 minutes away from our worst start to a season since 1962.
