Schalke goal machine Klaas Jan Huntelaar has allegedly arrived in Liverpool to discuss the possibility of a potential move to Anfield. The Reds were strongly linked with a loan move for Huntelaar during the short-lived reign of Roy Hodgson, but a deal could not be agreed at the time. Speculation arose again this week, but will Huntelaar sign?
Speaking to Sportinformationsdienst on Wednesday night, Huntelaar said:
"There will be a decision on my future when the time is right, and I think that time is not far off"
Schalke manager Horst Heldt added:
"We will definitely not make a decision until Friday. He is in a situation where he could sign his final big deal and it's pretty obvious that he is weighing up all his options. That is fair and reasonable."
Well, it's Friday, and the following photo of Huntelaar was posted on Dutch football website Voetball Info this morning:

According to the site, Huntelaar is in Liverpool to discuss a potential move to Anfield. Voetbal Info has been a very reliable source in the past, so I have no reason to believe the photo isn't genuine.
UPDATE: 14:25
In his pre-Arsenal press conference just now, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers specifically denied that Liverpool are trying to sign Huntelaar, adding:
"There’s no doubt we need to add goals to the team. Getting people who are recognised goalscorers to come in is the number one objective. We’re hopeful of adding to the squad. There are a number of players we’re looking at. It’s very difficult to get deals done at this stage. As a manager, the earlier you can get things done the better"

lol :D not happening
ReplyDeleteHow can you be so sure?
ReplyDeleteArnold Oosterveer (Huntelaar's agent) : "Klaas and Liverpool? No chance. Come tomorrow he'll still be a Schalke player.
ReplyDeletethat pic is a year old mate
ReplyDeletelol hahahahahhhaha
ReplyDeleteI hope he comes, I have waited for this transfer since 2007!
ReplyDeletelet's hope so, he is just what we need :) nice article
ReplyDeleteSource? That's just some random person retweeting an unsourced, unattributed quote.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he can bring the best out of suarez. His finishing has been dire!
ReplyDeleteI wish this was true, but under the original article the players agent has already dismissed the move.
ReplyDeletewell, he almost has a perfect history of scoring well everywhere he went, but i think he kinda did poorly at ac and real (the 2 big pressure clubs).
ReplyDeletehe is a fantastic poacher though but he lacks some speed, doesn't he and appears to only excel with lower-rated competition (although schalke is no pushover).
i would prefer damiao (who is fantastically more skilled and faster if equally quick in reaction), but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
heard hes going to everton lol
ReplyDeletehopefully!!!
ReplyDeleteaccording to wikipedia he is a lfc player
ReplyDeleteProbably Jamie. But research that pic and you will realise it's not from today!!
ReplyDeletehope we get him and dempsey, great rebuilding, getting rid of carrol and adam, and just need downing to leave!!
ReplyDeleteThat's the actual quote.
How do you know that pic is not from today? It definitely is from today; I doubt Voetbal International would post it if it wasn't.
suarez is a good assister but not a finisher
ReplyDeleteomg don't you get bored of writing total friction stories
ReplyDeleteAs last night proved, we are still in dire need of a 'poacher'. We could do with someone like Huntelaar who has a proven goal scoring ability.
ReplyDeletePpl say that it's a picture in 2011. Any evidence it's 2012? Seriously hope this is true and will happen.
ReplyDeleteHave a look at this :-)
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaas_Jan_Huntelaar
Jamie you're either stupid (easily duped), or making this up to give yourself hits (but probably both). Picture was taken before FC Schalke v Manchester United in Champions League Semi Final 2nd leg. Just google 'Huntelaar airport' and you'll see!
ReplyDeleteGet your transfer facts right...this story is utter baloney...it's not a police car in the photo but an airport security car....now c'mon
ReplyDeletephoto shop job.
ReplyDeleteIf this happens, I will be happier than I've been for 3 years. I might actually die of happiness if this happens.
ReplyDeleteIf I DO die of happiness, I just want to know that it's been a real pleasure slagging off Steve Nicol on this website.
Thank you.
you absolute idiots. that pic is from when schalke came to play the mancs last season. just google it.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the evidence that it's from 2011? If it is, there should be lots of copies on the net. Please find ONE and post the link. A respected Dutch football site posted the photo earlier (linked in the article), and given their history of reliability, I believe them over random 'people' on the net.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.voetbalinfo.nl/nieuws/51506/huntelaar-in-liverpool-voor-onderhandelingen/#prettyPhoto
sorry buddy, it isnt. its from when schalke played utd last year..here you go: http://www.flickr.com/photos/matt_mcnulty/5684264912/
ReplyDeleteAirport Security is a form of Police ;-)
ReplyDeleteits doesn't now? but im not sayin it didnt though coz it said that about ashley young last year and look wat happened there he went 2 united
ReplyDeleteI will take your word for it then if you are sure. I just seen some stuff on the net this morning when the photo was first circulated on the forums claiming it was a year old.
ReplyDeleteNo chance
ReplyDeletewe are trying to bring in sturridge on loan. started talking to chealsea yesterday and the deakl is on as long as their striker target comes through. maybe he will get both
ReplyDeleteBut Brendan Rodgers say no for Klass
ReplyDeleteYOU REALLY ARE AN ANNOYING TTTWAT
ReplyDeleteJust confirmed this is not going to happen in rogers press conference
ReplyDeleteBR just said no chance of this happening but smiled re theo.
ReplyDeleteThere's a possibility you could be right, but the source of the photo (Voetbal Info) has been pretty reliable lately. They broke the news of the Assaidi signing, and they've also been spot on in the past. I have no reason to believe that they'd deliberately falsify this, but if transpires that they have, then remove the photo.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/matt_mcnulty/5684264912/ he ain't coming people
ReplyDeleteSome reason my comments won't post, maybe because I have proof that this article is utter baloney. Here is your picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/matt_mcnulty/5684264912/
ReplyDeleteTaken on May 3rd, 2011. I expect the article to be removed or atleast edited in light of this.
Good day.
BR just denied any Huntelaar deal is on during the live press conference!!!
ReplyDeleteWould be a good signing.Just hope Liverpool don't get shafted on a transfer fee for him like we've become accustomed to over the last season. Good find on the video Jamie.
ReplyDeletesorry i missed the part of the photo that proves he's in liverpool.
ReplyDeleteThat pictures from last year when Schalke played manchester united in the UCL!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, if this is true, it'll be some very good investigative reporting. If it so happens that Klaas was never in Liverpool today, then it's a clear piece of attention seeking tabloid-journalism, which this site has every right to be.
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed a photo taken in Manchester back in 2011. Here's a link to the original:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/23029963@N04/5684264912
That doesn't mean he should be missing clear cut opportunities.
ReplyDeleteRead into it what you will;Rodgers: "There's no doubt we need to add goals to the team. Getting people who are recognised goalscorers to come in is the no 1 objective.Rodgers: "Do the players who've left free up a whole lot of money for me? I don't believe so."
ReplyDeleteJK... nobody believes this. Anymore stuff to add? I'd personally be over the bladdy galaxy with this signing!
ReplyDeleteWe'll find out soon enough if this picture was taken in Liverpool. For the time being my money is for Sturridge on loan or no one at all.
ReplyDeleteCheck this link -
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/matt_mcnulty/5684265716/
You can see it's from a while ago, wearing the same suit and the car in the picture above is to the right of the picture in the link. Usual Jaimie K crap
Voetbol international has reported a story quashing any talk of Huntelaar and Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteSomeone told me that this picture was taken from last year visit to Mancs Utd... as much as I love him to be a reds, it won't happen..
ReplyDeleteListen - its Dempsey and maybe Sturidge - its obvious BUT I would have thought more of it if we has signed a relative unknown - that is why we employ hundreds of spies - now there is a good place to start trimming the wage bill
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/matt_mcnulty/5684264912/in/photostream/
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/matt_mcnulty/5684265716/
ReplyDeleteHe was arriving in Manchester airport to play Man Utd!
That picture is from 2011 when he arrived at Manchester airport to play manchester united wih schalke in the champions league. http://www.flickr.com/photos/23029963@N04/5684264912
ReplyDeleteAccording to thisisanfield Rodgers said a definite no for Huntelaar, he said "we'll have to wait an see" for Dempsey and he said Walcott was a very good arsenal players and he said Sturridge "is a very good player who I know very well"
ReplyDeleteLove it: Jaimie talks about people taking artistic license to prove their side of the story then goes on to use his own artistic license to prove his side of the story. The picture is a year old Jaimie, accept it.
ReplyDeleteSo picture was old ?
ReplyDeleteEzizallamov
ReplyDeleteAccording to Brazilian press, Liverpool decide to "proceed" with the signing of Damiao. (€5m loan fee + €15m)
Typical Liverpool-kop. Always right. First time I've been back in months and still the same. But it's good for a laugh I suppose.
ReplyDeleteLook at this instead and ignore Jamie Kanwar's lies.
ReplyDeletehttp://lfckopchat.wordpress.com/
By the way - no chance huntelaar will sign
I realy hop we could get him. He is good on foot and in the air. But I doubt it though. Daniel is more likely to come in... just saying.
ReplyDeleteHence he's wearing a Blue tie, he he
ReplyDeleteHow dare you, he is a LEGEND.
ReplyDeleteWell according to getty images Huntelaar was in Gelsenkirchen today training
ReplyDeletehttp://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/schalkes-new-recruit-dutch-striker-ibrahim-afellay-and-news-photo/151057649
because the manager said so.
ReplyDelete16m???? We can't find 5m to buy Dempsey.
ReplyDeletetotal twaddle
ReplyDeletestupid owners cant give another 2m for dempsey now hes gone
ReplyDeleteDifferent manager, different backroom staff, different style of football...
ReplyDeleteSAME AULD RUBBISH RUNNING THIS HISTORIC CLUB !!!
5 signings they keep harping on about on LFCTV... 1 is an unproven 18 year old, 1 is on loan, 1 is a potential star and the other 2 look quite good...
WHERE IS THE QUALITY SIGNING OF A FRONT MAN ???
UTD=RVP
CITY=AGUERO
ARSENAL=GIROUD
CHELSEA=TORRES
LIVERPOOL=BORINI !!! = NOT GOOD ENOUGH LIVERPOOL
liverpool for the drop at this rate. if suarez gets injured were fecked.
ReplyDeleteThe intentionof not buying anyone else was there for all to see when Ridgers said he required ALL the team to supply goals not just strikers. If that was not an indication of tight purse strings I don't know what was!
ReplyDeleteFSG said they would spend only about £20M of their own money and have kept to that promise. I repeat what i keep repeating - we are a selling club now and will be in the future..
I can not for the life of me grasp that the only reason we did`nt sign Dempsey was those two millions. It just does`nt make sense. After shelling out losses of 10-s of millions we can not be hampered at 2. I think it must be other reasons as well. If you cant get the transfers that fit in 100% with your plan, it is better to skip it all together. As for other targets, last minutes deals are something this club have had some experience of latly. I think the signings done so far has glimses of both beeing smart as well as sober. Given time I think BR will take us in the right direction. No fans like it, but the truth is that we have to be patient for at least another season or two beefore we can challenge the (now 3) big teams. Maybee with a bit of luck (good did after all wear red back in 2005) we can challenge Ass`nal and Hot`spam for 4th this season. Now the hysteria at least is over for this time. Maybee we finally can get a rest from sensatin-hungry jurnos and the imbarressment by some of these spoild millionaire kids.
ReplyDeleteFinally its time to start enjoing the game again. Good luck with the season.
