Manchester City's season got off to a winning start last Sunday with a 3-2 victory over Premier League new boys Southampton. Joe Hart (arguably) could've done better for both Saints goals, and with Liverpool facing City this weekend, Reds fans will be hoping for more shaky goalkeeping from England's number one.
In an interview with the official Liverpool FC site, today, Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina insisted that it is 'good' to play Manchester City to early in the season, and revealed his admiration for Hart. He said:
"He [Joe Hart] is one of the best - if not the best - at the moment. He's had a great last two seasons or so and last season he was man of the match at Anfield and saved them".
In a recent poll on the site (Hart vs. Reina - who's the best?) 50.5% of 6300 (approx) participants voted for Hart, which is a surprising result considering Reina was recently voted the greatest Liverpool goalkeeper of all time (!) by viewers of Liverpool's official TV channel. It's good to see some objectivity going on when it comes to assessing the best.
Sergio Aguero will miss this Sunday's game through injury, but Reina is wary of City's squad strength:
"They can play two teams, basically. The squad cost so many millions and they have some great individual players, but as a group they have quality. It's not just the strikers - they have people like Silva, Yaya Toure, Hart and Kompany. They are a very strong team and we have to be ready".
If Southampton can score two goals against City, so can Liverpool...right?

Southampton score 2 because the betting company want them too.
ReplyDeleteWe have more chance of hitting the woodwork twice rather than the back of the net.
ReplyDeleteI'll try and write without sarcasm Jaimie ^ lol. We have a great chance. All last season though i was waitin for a game where everything came together nicely but i honestly believe we where unlucky. Not just not good enough, i feel we should have had a good 20 points more. I am hoping that the four players brought in can all be the tweaks that our squad needed. We have quite a young squad now and a decent blend of players. Internationals, young internationals and future stars in my opinion and i'm hoping that we click. Maybe this will be the game. If we can outplay them and put a one in the net early on it could provide a catalyst. I wait with baited breath!!!!
ReplyDeleteTo those who hate FSG, an important link to why our spending got short

Liverpools squad cost millions as well pepe.....i can put up with a win a loss or a draw as long as the players play with pride and commitment and remember they are mega bucks compared to the rest of us
ReplyDeleteThink pepe is right and as far as online voting is concerned the younger fans would not remenber great keepers from the past.
ReplyDeleteclem is the best liverpool goale i have seen
ReplyDeleteGreat website, love the adverts, always make sure I click on them when I visit
ReplyDeletewelcome back, how do you manage without any income when you go away and don't post?
ReplyDeletePepe has been woeful of late and he MUST know it....Hart was way better than him last season, granted he made a decent save in the last game but for me he has lost his consistency completely. Would much rather he was replaced but it doesn't look like that will happen, could be a big mistake in the making keeping him, hopefully not.
ReplyDeleteIm expecting a good game from him tomorrow, i guess he wouldn't come out with statements re Hart and City if he was planning another shocker......
