Liverpool are poised to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Samed Yesil.
The attacker, of Turkish descent, came to prominence in last year's Euro Under-17 Championship, where he scored six goals in eight qualification matches and three in final stages, and went on to win the tournament’s Golden Boot award.
Arsenal had also been tracking Yesil, but Liverpool have won the race to sign him.
The 18-year old is currently undergoing a medical at Melwood, and is expected to cost the club about £1m.
Yesil has made only one appearance for Leverkusen's first team, but his record for the U19s is formidable. Last season:
* Last season: 19 goals and 5 assists in 23 apps (2 hat-tricks)
* 2010-11: 22 goals in 14 games.
Thanks, Sami!

This player is a class act! His youth international record is amazing. Looks speedy and clinical! Yes please!
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of him but apparently he scored 6 times at the U17 World Cup, so must be pretty decent? Lets hope so!
ReplyDeleteYea mate he is a very good prospect. Kind of reminds me of Klose.
ReplyDeleteThose vids make him look crap!
ReplyDeleteWell lets hope he gets a chance like Sterling then! Germany are producing some very good players at the moment, so I have faith thta he can be good!
ReplyDeleteAlso what ever happened to that guy from Portugal? Texieria?!?
Germany are producing great talents because they focus heavily on their grassroots football and academies unlike here in England. I can give 10+ names of german players that have amazing potential and are under 20.
ReplyDeleteI feel Teixeira was bought on the back of his performance against us.
Tidy player though, think he is playing in the reserves. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.
Start him against Arsenal!!!!!!
ReplyDeletehe won the Silver Shoe, not Golden Boot which is won by Coulibaly..a poacher, bit like Klose..great steal by LFC..gutted Arsene didn't sign him first..
ReplyDeletethinking samething lol
ReplyDeleteTeixeira has had trouble with injuries including his back which they didnt want to rush him back, think he played last week though for the reserves
ReplyDeletelooks good prospect, probable line up tonight; reina, kelly carragher, skrtel, downing, shelvey, allen, henderson, gerrard, morgan, suarez.
ReplyDeleteHe seems to have terrific pace... for an U19 player but is it enough for the Prem?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look very comfortable on the ball though!
But he's only 18 and we know BR does great with kids!
Is he gonna play for Academy or First team ?
ReplyDeleteReserves, most likely. With chance of occasional appearances in Europa League.
ReplyDeleteLooks alright. Can anyone tell me what happened to that Marco Bueno guy who was supposed to sign this summer?
ReplyDeleteSpearing thinks his future lies at Liverpool so he won't sign any permanent deal. Going to Bolton on loan.
ReplyDeleteBloody none of our crap players want to leave club. Seems they have all taken YNWA too seriously...... lol
For goodness sake spearing! I have sold you on my football manager game since 2006! Get the hint already!
ReplyDeleteI've seen him several times. Great footballer, the best of u18 in germany (besides Emre Can from Munich). I hope he'll get the chance to play!
ReplyDeletehes mostly gonna spend 1 or 2 seasons with reserves unless the deadwood in first team is tossed away..
ReplyDeleteIn case anybody didn't mention it, he won the silver boot and was second to Souleymane Coulibaby who plays for Spurs and Ivory Coast.
ReplyDeleteJust saying.
