Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has chosen a very attacking line-up for tonight's Europa League qualifier against FC Gomel.
Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard return to the starting line-up, and it's also good to see Jonjo Shelvey given the nod.
Liverpool go into the game with an away goal advantage, which should set the team up nicely to finish the job at Anfield.
FULL TEAM: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Shelvey, Downing, Suárez, Borini.
SUBS: Jones, Carroll, Henderson, Spearing, Kelly, Carra, Adam
-------------------------- Reina
Johnson -------- Skrtel --------- Agger -------- Enrique
------------------------ Lucas
-------------- Gerrard ----- Shelvey
Downing -------------- Borini ----------- Suarez
Speaking to LFC TV, Former Red Jason McAteer revealed his thoughts on Rodgers' selection:
"It's very impressive. I'm quite surprised to see Suarez playing after a long summer at the Olympics, but it's certainly a very strong team. It's just the way he [Rodgers] likes to play: 433, with three in midfield and three up front".

Hi Dari - thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the site. Believe me, people disagreeing with my views is fine, and since about 90% of visitors do disagree with me, you're in good company :-)
ReplyDeleteNo Pacheco nor sterling to give suarez a rest after we r 4up????Adam & Spearing should not even be inside Anfield!may b brittania or Madjesky stadium where they need stout & long ball players
ReplyDeleteYeah
ReplyDeletegood luck in the childrens cup, where you belong.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know why suso and sterling continue to be ignored? Thought a game like this would be ideal bringing the big names on if we are struggling. Line up stinks of desperation to me
ReplyDeleteBit disappointed not to see Morgan and sterling on the bench but take shelvey out and replace him with Allen and that's rodgers strongest side.
ReplyDeleteGeez. And you bother to comment as well.
ReplyDeleteshooosh
ReplyDeleteliiverpool has been amazing imo.... rodgers job well done
ReplyDeleteHe's clearly trolling
ReplyDeleteGood performance tonight, especially Suarez,Shelvey,Gerrard,Borini, really think we need to play Shelvey a lot more, thought he had a great game.I sense a change is coming, playing the way we did in this game,I think we have a real chance of doing really well in the EPL,early, early day's I know but I feel good about upcoming season!
ReplyDeleteSuarez loves to play football. Let him get his full 90 mins as he enjoys being out there on the pitch with his team mates
