Confirmed: £16m 48-goal target to 'decide future' on Friday. Choose LFC!

It's almost a cliche to say it now, but Liverpool desperately need to sign a prolific striker before the transfer window closes on Friday. I've already made a case for Huddersfield's Jordan Rhodes, but Dutch goal machine Klass-Jan Huntelaar is also available, and according to the striker, he will make a decision about his future very soon. Should the Reds pursue him?

Liverpool were strongly linked with a loan move for Huntelaar during the short-lived reign of Roy Hodgson, but a deal could not be agreed at the time. Speculation has arisen again over the last week, and speaking to Sportinformationsdienst last night, Huntelaar said:

"There will be a decision on my future when the time is right, and I think that time is not far off"

Schalke manager Horst Heldt added:

"We will definitely not make a decision until Friday. He is in a situation where he could sign his final big deal and it's pretty obvious that he is weighing up all his options. That is fair and reasonable."

In an interview with Bild in July, Heldt revealed Huntelaar's buy out clause:

"Huntelaar has a €20m [£16m] buyout clause in his contract, and rich clubs can afford it"

£16m for a player who grabbed 44 goals and 10 assists last season and has a history of scoring goals wherever he goes? That seems fairly reasonable to me, but given the current market, it's unlikely Schalke would achieve that price for Huntelaar. Some stats:

* 48 goals and 10 assists last season
* 194 goals over the last 7 season
* Averages 28 goals a season
* Last season: Goal every 96 mins (league)
* Last season: Goal or assist every 76 minutes (league)
* 58% conversion rate

Whether Huntelaar would want to make the move to Anfield is another story, but it's got to be worth a shot, surely? Like Rhodes, the Dutchman is a natural goalscorer, and despite the constant stories circulating that Liverpool don't have any money to spend, I believe FSG would sanction a deal for the right player, and Huntelaar arguably fits into the category.

Luis Suarez and Huntelaar together again? Yes please! At Ajax between 2007 and 2009, the duo grabbed over 125 goals/assists between them.

would love the move, and i agree, i think FSG would give the money for the right player

Huntelaar is clearly more of a natural scorer than what we have in our squad at the moment. However, I would be concerned about his lack of success in the bigger leagues of Italy and Spain. Based on this and his age I think £16m is too much.
I would definitely take a punt on Rhodes though.

  6. How old is Huntelaar? It would either be him or Dempsey I think.

Huntelaar formed a pretty formidable partnership with Suarez at Ajax, and would love it to see it renewed at LFC!

  7. Bloody hell. How many stories of players being "linked" that we should go out and buy? Clearly the message from Rodgers that money isn't there has failed to hit home....

And Rhodes has gone elsewhere so that can now be put to bed.

  8. FSG will not sanction a move for a 29 year old who will cost 16 million with no hope of any return. As per previous article and discussions Rhodes not good enough for prem

    ReplyDelete
  9. Good point about the partnership. He is 29.

  10. I think if we made a move the fact suarez is here could be a factor, and would also be better for him to adjust as he would know how his strike partner plays.. This is exactly the type of player we are craving so we should do everything possible to get him

  11. Liverpool should by iker muninan

  12. oh how i wish we did

  13. I think Huntelaar would fit in very nicely, has the finishing we are looking for, very composed and experienced in front of goal, very good in the air too, i reckon he would fit right into the prem, can't see any reason why he wouldn't be knocking them in on a regular basis for us, i was hoping he would come when it was rumoured a few seasons ago but its certainly not too late, we need a player like this and it doesn't look like Carroll will be given more time to try and prove himself, i say we pull out all the stops if thats the case and get him onboard.

  14. Some people on this site or should I say most people on this site do not live in the real world.  This is not fantasy football. FSG have no more money.  Rodgers has stated he has to sell if he is to bring in any more players, and as nobody is wanted except for Spearing. for get your crazy wants. And no overage players period. unless on a free.

Now get back to watching Cbeebies.

  15. This is the unfortunate truth.
"I am aware of the links and it is great that those players want to come here but the reality is that we are not in a position to do deals like that. The club, in financial terms, is in need of repair so those players linked and for those sums linked, I don't have the ability to do that unfortunately. Certainly not in this transfer window anyway. That is the reality of it. Unfortunately it is going to take more than one window.
"The transition of the squad is probably going to take this window and through to next summer. This is an incredible club and so some players who come here, even if you want to move them on, are not going to just walk out of the door because of wages and other factors. It is going to take us a wee bit of time to build the squad that we want but, in the meantime, we just have to keep our heads down and work hard to get results."

  16. This son of a bitch has impressed me since he was just 24 years old plying his trade with Ajax. I remember distinctively one game when Klass Jan Hunterlaar jumped to head a cross and he had to jump up while being sandwiched  between two much bigger defenders to head in the goal. His sheer strength in the air really  impressed me. Other strikers might have been put off while being justled in the air . A student of the Ajax system of total foot-ball Hunterlaar has played for some really great teams in his career. He is by far my favorite Dutch foot-baller.

Hunterlaar has great movement in the box and has then knack of           finding great positions to get the ball in the six yard box. He is in my opinion the ultimate poacher. Hunterlaar is no Wesley Sneider in the sense he doesn't have decent long range shooting nor is he a speed demon. What he does poses is a wonderful touch on the ball and great awareness for space. He always working to move into space that will allow him to score.

His career has seen him play for some of the giant clubs in the world like Real Madrid, AC Milan, and now Shalke. Last season he enjoyed a great partnership with Raul and scored a lot of goals in the Bundesliga.

It is no secret that Liverpool has not had a prolific scorer of goals since Djbrill Cisse. I know we had Fernando Torres but other than his first season at Liverpool he failed to really  find his goal scoring form. Cisse was the last  goal scoring machine we have really had on the team. I think that bringing Klass Hunterlaar would make a massive statement of intent that we want a top four finish. If we do sign Dempsey and we get Hunterlaar combining with Sahin, Torres, and Gerrard, the flood gates will open up and  goals will come rushing back to Anfield again. The good times will return for sure.

Go! Fetch him Brendan Rodgers. Bring this player home.

  17. If Afellay was to come to Anfield on loan, Huntelaar came for the reported £16m, then it could be a serious season for us, and even if we got Jordan Rhodes, Imo he would do a great job too. I hope any two out of the three come in, that would be a fantastic, boost to all Lfc supporters, and forget fourth place, the tital could be within our grasp. with so many different options within the squad, but how would this look as a starting 11 Reina, B4 Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, MF3 Afellay, Allen, Sahin, FR3 Borini left, Huntelaar Central, Suarez Right, Bench Gulaschi, Kelly, Coates, Gerrard, Sterling, Assaidi, Rhodes. Dont forget we would still be missing Lucas, Carroll, Shelvey, Carragher, What a Squad of players that would be?

    ReplyDelete
  18. As I keep saying, but has been refuted in some quarters, we have to sell to buy. With it looking unlikely that we will offload our fringe players before the deadline, transfers such as these will not happen. Loan deals only, I'm afraid....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Cisse 13 goals in 49 games. Torres 65 goals in 102 games. Are tou being serious with that statement???

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, the last few transfers have held a few unpleasant surprises for us...i think its time we were rewarded with something pleasant....and for those thinking we are not going to buy without selling etc and there's no money, hopefully thats just a smokescreen to re adjust our big spenders image from last season....?

Fingers crossed we will see some more exciting transfer activity in the next few days.

    ReplyDelete
  21. There are some dreamers on here. Is there anybody left that LFC hasn't been linked with? It's a pain in the arse. And the sooner the window closes, the better. We can all get on with the season.

    ReplyDelete
  22. if the right player is available FSG will supply the funds as said by Tom Werner... To suggest they have no money is ludicrous, they have money they have just learnt from previous mistakes as anyone would.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Im sure if Brenden Rodgers really wanted the reported £16m for Huntelaar, and FSG, where shown Huntelaars impressive stats over his very successful career, they would cough up the money? so Bill dont be to quick to judge others, because who really knows the truth of the matter, regarding FSG and transfer money, because BR said to the british media, that he needs to sell before he can buy dosen`t always mean he`s being totally honest? look at Assaidi, did anybody know anything about him coming in? The trick is to always keep them guessing. Brendens a genius at it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. very very true which is why they wont spend 16m on a 29 year old with little chance of a return

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay, maybe your right, maybe we are dreaming, but its also possible that you could be wrong.....I mean do you think we would announce that we have money to spend in this window, even if we do have it?

Would you allow Brendan to announce it if you were John Henry? Would it be wise to, after we were taken for a royal ride last summer?

No, the best way to go about our business would be to announce that we don't have money to spend....offload a few players....buy a few players without breaking the bank....keep our potential transfers well hidden....and keep schtum about any late purchases....

Once again i could be totally wrong BUT we do need a striker and i think that FSG will have noted that after seeing how we started this season being similar to how finished the last....

The signings we have made so far have boosted the strength in depth for our midfield but we still have the problem of boosting other area's and i don't think that FSG will go another season before addressing that and perhaps other issue's, bearing in mind all these factors its certainly not beyond the realms of feasability that we MAY be pleasntly surprised...for a change.

Either way, i have to admit to liking this transfer window a lot more than other recent one's.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. FSG will not part with another dime, so stop dreaming, and if they did, this 29 year old is not their idea of a Liverpool player. some people just dont get it. 29 year olds dont fit their policy, end of.

    ReplyDelete
  27. whats this little chance of return all about? you mean as in a future transfer fee? or in a performance related manner?

    ReplyDelete
  28. have you ever watched the team play !! if you had you would know that Liverpool FC have not had a more prolific scorer of goals (aka striker) since Sean Dundee
oh and by the way Torres left a while ago

    ReplyDelete
  29. fee. whatever fsg do has to be sustainable henry has said this. he has also said we will not send what we cannot afford. He is also a big fan of moneyball oh and he likes to turn a profit for himself he is after all a business man.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ahh the great "goal machine" sean dundee how easily people forget such a talent... :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. so basically the importance of a future fee is more important then paying for a player of 29 yrs of age who could possibly (and remember he is generally prolific) score the goals for another 3 seasons minimum that take us into the champions league? I understand him been a business man but surely even he would know that looking at things in that manner is potentially harming the club both on the pitch and commercially.

    ReplyDelete
  32. basically mate yes. because 16m would be deemed wasted. FSG have wasted too much money already on comoli buys that together with reported nastys in the accounts with regards to the costs incurred on new ground that they were unaware of means being sensible and cautious now

    ReplyDelete
  33. thats a shame as i think this would have been a great signing for us had we pulled it off.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i agree mate and who knows he may be available for less. However the big news out of melwood is we are trying to sign the son of sean dundee apparantly he is 10 years old and can even do up his own laces sounds like a real chip off the old croc !!!!

  40. How much have you seen of his time in Italy and Spain? Despite not getting much game time at either Madrid or Milan, he still managed to score quite regularly when handed starts. Besides, even if he can only score half (ONLY 24) of the goals he scored last season, surely 16 million is worth it.
After all, Tottenham just bought Dembele for 15 and he would be said to have a good season if he managed even a quarter of those goals.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Is it just me or did the video look as though he was scoring against pub teams?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Call me crazy , call  me anything you want. I am not number's guy so the  stats don't mean a lot to me. I know that Torres scored about 17 goals in all competitions in his first season and then failed to quite hit that mark. I wasn't really impressed by him in his second season. I think that Cisse was a better striker simply because he was a faster striker. He could really stretch defences. We could debate this issue till the cows come home. I am just expressing an opinion. A  lot of people like Torres. I think he is a great player but i think that Cisse was a better striker in his prime  than Torres was.

  43. Rafa please sign him now before the transfer window closes!!

  44. Jaime I am a bit disappointed in a few of your articles. As a true reds fan I would of hoped you would of picked up on all topics concerning Liverpool Liverpool buys and finances.
Heres a topic worth debating concerning Sahin.
We have got him on years loan with no Clause to make it permanent. In the years contract we are paying a reportedly wage of 115k a week in addition a 5 mil loan fees and to add insult to injury madrid bought the player for only 3.5 mil. So this makes him one of the highest earners at liverpool  with Liverpool stumping up  more than 7 mil. 2 mil or so more than what wenger offered. Now tell me if this is not worth a debate.
Worst thing is if he proves himself than anyone can snap him up from city to chelsea offering him more wage and if he doesn`t then 7 mil waste.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The BBC reported that Sahin earns a staggering £115,000 a week at Real Madrid, the majority of which Liverpool have agreed to take on. That would immediately place him as one of the Reds’ highest earners. Additionally, Liverpool paid a loan fee of close to £5 million, a staggering amount considering that Sahin cost Real Madrid only £3.7 million more for a permanent transfer last summer.Read more at http://thisisfutbol.com/2012/08/blogs/why-sahin-deal-may-come-back-to-haunt-liverpool?#15p6xQJrCgkhO0s0.99

  46. You're spot on with the last sentence of your article jk- fsg should sanction higher fee purchases in our time of cut backs, if it's the right player and I feel huntelaar is in his peak now and would be a major boost to our attacking options- he is good with the ball on the deck and in the air. Plan a and b rolled into one.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rhodes to Blackburn for £8m???, according to BBC north west. Huntelaar is saying nothing at all about Liverpool, interesting isn't it!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. People are confusing FSG balancing the books with having no money, this is stupidity. They have loads of money but saw a lot wasted last season, why would they toss more around before selling off the rubbish first???. It makes total sense with FFP on the horizon, to suggest FSG are skint is ludicrous.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Totally agree mate!!!, business needed sorting first after last seasons debacle in the market, FSG are doing whay any responsible owner would do. Balancing the books before dipping in again, what is wrong about that???

    ReplyDelete
  51. All players Kenny bought are not prepared to leave Liverpool. Why would they leave as Kenny has given them all ridiculously high wages contracts. Charlie Adam wants £2 million pay off to leave the club. Downing is not prepared to leave at all. Andy Carroll also dragged his feet as he is making 80k a week for doing nothing at LFC.

Kenny was really a dinosaur of the game and he screwed the club's finances by leaving club with such poor squad tied up with high wages for years to come.

None of them gonna leave and LFC has very little chance to buy some better players in near future.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You are joking right ?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Not gonna happen. He's a class player but like Dempsey, he's at the wrong end of his 20's. Has Brendan signed a player over 25 yet? No, and he never will. These rumours do not fit the current transfer policy, which is to eye up young talent and grab them for a lesser fee, rather than waiting for them to prove themselves and have their prices triple.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Dont be fooled they are budgeting 30 mil a year whether they  have money or not. It was or is easier to blame  things on previous purchases. Fact is even if previous purchases were good they would still spend the same. Don`t be fooled by this P.R stunt. Fact is  better 30 mil than nothing. But they shouldnt use it for an excuse. Just tell it how it is. Sahin money came from releasing  maxi and kuyt. Rogers has said again yesterday  he needs to sell to buy. I predicted and stated 30 mil before and was told there was no evidence of this. Now work it out people. 30 mil net each year unless we enter champions league.

    ReplyDelete
  55.  It's not all Kenny's fault, look at Joe Cole, signed by Roy Hodgson, on a wage far over his worth. Not only Cole, but we were lucky to get rid of Rafa's flop Aquilani, though I was in favour of him staying, he was on insane wages too. Even if we kept Andy and sold Cole, Adam and Spearing, we'd probably have another £15m-£20m to spend on players with lower wages. The only reason we lost out on Sigurdson was because of his wage demands. The new policy is about cutting the high wages and fixing the mess caused by Roy, Kenny and Comolli.

Finally we have a manager that understands how to do business in the modern game. Allen, Assaidi and Borini will prove more than their worth.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sorry Sir, I mean no disrespect at all but I chuckled when I heard this. Unfortunately numbers (goals and assists tallies) do matter if your a striker. Torres has been the most consistent striker we have had in terms of scoring since Owen. He has proved this playing against the best oppositions in the PL and the CL.

I had high hopes for Cisse but it quite never worked out for him. Cisse was prolific at Auxere and Panathinaikos only.

A faster striker does not mean he is a better striker than a striker with average pace. I.E. Raul and Ruud Van Nistelrooy were not the fastest strikers around however their record speaks for themselves.

    IMO anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. HEYYY! Sean Dundee was one of the best strikers we have had even though he only made 3 appearances and scored no goals! LEGEND!!!

  59. I wish we would rather sign Farfan and Draxler

    ReplyDelete
  60. I agree if we had Huntelaar and Afellay then I would definitely think 4th would be achievable. However the only problem with Huntelaar is his age. I only say this because the fee the is quite high, there's no guarantee he will make an immediate impact, his wages will be high and he will want at least a 4 year deal.

Van Persie is another story as he is a proven goalscorer in the PL. We should have gone for him when he was at Ajax or when he left Madrid.

I'm still not convinced by Borini, great work ethic but will reserve my judgement for now.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think we will bring someone in, and it should be a striker. If Suarez get injured then we are in trouble!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I agree also. When City made the £100M bid for Kaka, everyone knew from then that they were willing to splash crazy money. If BR said he has a lot of money, then a £8M transfer would cost us £10.5M!

We still need to replace the player that have left. We need a striker, a left back and a winger. And we need to let go of Spearing, Carroll. Adam is a good squad player for us especially if we qualify today for the Europa League group stages. However if we sell him then I guess there will be more opportunity for Hendo to play and show us what he can do.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wow Patouz27, I was actually not aware that he was earning so much money! And the loan fee is actually ridiculous! More reason for us to sell some deadwood we currently have.

You have a point though, if Sahin has a stormer of a season and proves himself in the PL, then if we don't get CL and at least challenge for a few Cups he will probably want to leave.

a £20M plus would prob be his fee. And if we do try and sign him, I wonder how much money he will ask for.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Kinda agree with this. KD, although a club legend, has set us back with his purchases. Hendo is on a reported £70K a year. And this guy had 1 average season for Sunderland and he stumped £20M for him. Same with Carroll although he had a good 5 months for Newcastle.

The point is, these players know, like Downing, that they won't be earning as much elsewhere. Who in their right mind would match Downing and Hendo these crazy wages?

I am actually surprised West Ham are so keen on Carroll by offering him a a bumper contract. I guess his style suits Allardyce's style of football which is fair enough.

    ReplyDelete
  65. It is a shame. Dempsey would be a good short term option but he will prob command a high wage and a long contract which I am not sure Liverpool would want to give to a 29yo although he is a good player.

    ReplyDelete
  66. It seems to me that BR is really trying to get rid of the deadwood in our squad. BR said :
"We're not in a position to have £35million players as third-choice strikers or wingers who are on £5m-£6m a year. This is the challenge I have, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see Andy Carroll has been a cover player for us"

That to me is pretty clear if I am honest. Carroll does not suit our style and never has, Cole, Downing are just eating up money.

So I think the owners have learned from their mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Shame about Rhodes. I think it's a £4.5M deal with an additional £3.5M if they get promoted!

    ReplyDelete
  68. yes initial negotiations we offered over 7 mil and Arsenal offered 5mil. He chose to play for wenger who cooled his interest because the player and real madrid only wanted a one year loan deal. So him and his agent came to liverpool. My question is why did liverpool not then offer the same terms a arsenal saving us 2 mil? Saving 2 mil saves the wages of a player wages of 80k a week if im not mistaken. Watch his first interval again and see how uncomfortable he was when asked if he will stay at liverpool after his contract. I am not saying he may not stay but lets be honest slim chance and if he does well he have helped increase    his market value. 7 mil a year is 35 mil in 5 year!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Crazy! Have to wonder who deals with transfer negotiations for us!

    ReplyDelete
  70. well time will tell if he is worth 15 mil for a 3 year contract or 25mil for a 5 yr contract excluding his 115k a week wage and the inial 5 mil we have already paid.

    ReplyDelete
  71.  Are you for real??????

  72.  Rhodes hasnt gone anywhere!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. The 'return' from signing Huntelaar will be the goals he will score and the extra money from the Premier League for finishing higher up in the table. Not to mention Champions League money as I'm positive that this guy will get us back in there.

This one is a no brainer. He's held in higher regard in Holland than RVP, yet, even thought they are both 29 years old, Man Utd splashed out £24m & will pay a reported £250,000 a week for RVP. Now, buying a striker who is reportedly superior for less money and on a lower salary makes perfect sense to me.
    And, if reports on us having no money left to buy, how about we sell these players;

    Adam £4m
    Spearing £3m
    Carroll £12m
    Cole £2m

That equates to £23m, £16m fee with £7m left to help with his wages.
The prize money return, not to mention shirt sales of 'Huntelaar 9', will pay the rest of his contract. As I said before, a no brainer.

  75. Why not promote Adam Morgan to the first team?????

    ReplyDelete
  76. It is pretty obvious that we have paid more than Arsenal offered. They are in the Champions League. As loans go you are correct in pointing out that this is not a particularly inexpensive deal for Liverpool but that is open to debate as Liverpool is getting a proven quality player. Do you expect a player who played so well for Borussia Dortmund to warrant a move to one of the largest clubs in the world to cost next to nothing? Injury hampered his introduction to life at the Bernabeu, and by the time of his return Real Madrid were already functioning perfectly well without him. Harder to force yourself into such a well performing team without injuries to other players. I think it would be safe to say that Liverpool are not quite functioning at that level yet and having such a player move to the club for a year (potentially more if Real keep doing as well this season) should be viewed upon positively.

I'd like to note that you have contradicted yourself in these last two points. In the first point you mentioned that Liverpool is paying all of the player's 115k weekly salary and that Real Madrid paid only 3.5 mil. In the second point you mention figures from the thisisfutbol.com article, which states that Liverpool will be paying the majority of the salary and that Real Madrid bought the player for £3.7 million more that the loan fee of £5 million Liverpool paid (that makes £8.7 million - counter to the 3.5 mil you spoke of in your first point).

The £1.6 million loan fee quoted on the BBC website seems reasonable for a one year loan, plus it's not unreasonable to   pay the player while he's at the club. It's not clear what this amounts to eactly, but somewhere in the region of £5million seems about right from what has been reported (i.e .the majority of the £115k per week). If you look at any signing it costs a lot more than the transfer fee due to the wages, so getting hung up on the player's salary isn't something I'd dwell on for too long (unless he gets injured).

It seems clear that Rodgers does not merit Adam or Spearing in midfield and Henderson is not a preference either. With the recent injury to Lucas, the timing of the Sahin loan deal has proved to be fortunate for Liverpool. I think most people who are aware of football in Europe and have seen the player in action will be more optimistic of a positive impact on the team by Sahin than Adam (on approx £2.5m per year; needs another player on the pitch to tackle for him, a liability), Spearing (on not a lot per year; has heart but isn't good enough unfortunately) or Henderson (on approx £3.5m per year; seems okay at times but ineffective too often) and I am hopeful he will show some class to complement that shown by Allen.

If he does prove himself and Liverpool does end up having a really good season, making the Champions League places, then several things could happen - but at the very least the first year of Rodgers' reign will have gone well and Anfield will be a more attractive place for players to come to. So, if Sahin does end up returning to Madrid then at least Liverpool will be better placed to attract a replacement.

I think with the position Liverpool is in at the minute, fans should be worried about not improving at all and signing more players on long term over-inflated contracts for which they are not worthy. I don't think the Sahin loan deal is something to worry too much about, and if (although I think it is unlikely) he does turn out to be rubbish for us, at least we can give him back after a year rather than struggling to offload him like other players recently.

By the way £2m per year is closer to £40k per week. Buy yourself a calculator, they're useful for things like that. He had an interview, not an interval. His spoken English is good which will undoubtedly be useful.

As an aside, Alonso shows his class once again by constantly recommending players to Liverpool and speaking to them of what it means to play for the club.

  77. Brilliant riposte, well said.

  78. Your first point doesn`t make sense. firstly Wenger declined to take him on loan (maybe you need glasses) hence he came to us.My point is why did we not then offer the same terms as Arsenal? Or are you saying oncewenger didn`t want him we should of still offered 2 mil more for the deal? We and Arsenal were the only two clubs that contacted real madrid and made the two highest bids for him. We are the ones offering him first team football ,paying his entire wage whether champians League or not.Secondary I do believe that shelvy and Henderson can do a job there in the middle of the park while you don`t.
Removing all the your curtain factors from many different sources the total package keeps on coming up just over 7 mil. Like it or not.40 or 80k a week (wink wink). and as much as you butter it up its money that could of been spent on more priority signings as we have limited money to spend.

And we complain about money ..........

  79. Still 2 mil more than wenger wanted to pay. No one else after him and we still pay 2 mil more and yet we complain about money. I think you truly need classes to see my point. Shelvy and Henderson can do a job there in my opinion and that 7 mil or more could of been used  for other critical positions. e.g, Dempsey. etc.Lucas is out for 3 months tops not a full season.
The bottom line is we are still paying unjustified inflated money.

  80. We are offering himthe chance to play for Liverpool and paying all his wage instead of him sitting obn the bench. Only us and wenger offerred the two concrete bids. Wenger pulls out and we offer two million more. Pathetic if you ask me and even worse trying to justify it.

  81. Hey Bill, quick question. In your " real world" if you are buying a house, do you go and tell the owner of that house that you are flush with funds? Essentially saying that you are prepared to pay whatever price they name?

Come on mate, regardless of the situation, what else would Rodgers say in the real world?

  82. I think it's a bad move huntelaar has not impressed at either Milan or Madrid why would he be any better in the epl when the other leagues are Inferior, I'd rather take a gamble at Rhodes as it would be a lot cheaper so if he were to flop it wouldnt be so bad. Huntelaar is a bad idea!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Lol, buying huntelaar will get us scoring a lot of goals probably 20 goals - a given. Over 3-4 years we could reach top four and the financial package that the champs league gives us would give us a better return. What would you want a 16m signing or loads of duds that would essentially become 16 mil overall with no chance of champs league? It's crazy to think huntelaar will not represent a future fee. Maybe not in sales but when he scores those goals, shirt sales, sponsorships, influx in foreign fans, champions league football (20mil just for reaching group stage), and winning more games means more money from our sponsors etc. please stop with the finance shit, if you spent over 100mil anyway, just spend another 20odd million and bingo, you have a better team, better chance at getting top four, better sponsorship deals and other income...With financial FairPlay coming, 20mil is pittance if we get rid of joe cole and any other duds like downing. Prolific in every league he has been to, even if he didn't play too much with Milan and Madrid, he still scored a lot.

  84. If u don't know about FSG,then how come ur a liverpool supporter.

  85. getting huntelaar would be a massive statement of intent. the player is immense in germany and schalke are a massive club, with almost as much pressure as the big two. Huntelar can really do it all.

  86. Correction - 'I think that was the idea in signing him.'

  87. 'and Suarez to do some more finishing himself' - obviously got sloppy towards the end.

  88. What was that you were saying about Rhodes not going anywhere?

  89. How to make a point and then totally draw the attention away from the point. Djibril Cisse being a prolific goal scorer at Liverpool never mind him being Liverpool's last prolific goal scorer was the ill conceived secret that would have forever remained unknown until you let it out of the bag. Milan Baros also had a better goal return than Cisse with 19 in 68 and it is no secret that he wasn't prolific at Anfield, but then again those are just numbers.
Why not leave it at you think Huntelaar's really good? Ha ha ha, if this post was to raise hilarity then well done. Excellent.

  90. Firstly read the papers. Liverpool first went into negotiations at least 3 weeks ago. Arsensal came in after a day or two to hijack the deal. Both deals were on the table and he chose Arsenal. That is a fact. When wenger did not pursue his interest because he was not allowed to buy him for 14 mil he then decided to come to liverpool. I dont need a calculater to prove this nor do you my friend. Just check with the papers.

  91. Secondary the word quality means fit for purpose. Bottom line many players have done well at other clubs and when come to liverpool have not performed. Morientes, downing and others come to mind.I have never said he is a crap player but I would never of pais 2 mil more and would of preferred easily to have had henderson playing there instead of him for the fact that Liverpool was his first choice and he has more to prove or shelvy.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thirdly yes it is the managers perrogative to choose his team, however he should then stop complaining about lack of money when he could of bought a striker instead of a midfield player. And  lastly inmy opinion Borini will never be as good as carol in my team. But i am  not the manager, I will support him whether I agree or not but he will live and and die by his decisions.
I think everything else you wrote is irrelevant.`

  93. just desperate for a player of that age for that money. adebeyor £5mill berbetov about the same.
oh and rhodes for 8 mill

  94. Unfortunately when you describe a player as a prolific scorer of goals it has to be backed by numbers. Cisse only scored 13 goals for Liverpool which is not prolific.

  95. Read it again. I said he hadnt gone anywhere, which he hadnt,  not he wasnt going anywhere!!
