€15m PSG star to LFC? Lacombe provides transfer update...

With the futures of both Martin Skrtel and Daniel still up in the air, it seems that Liverpool are pressing ahead with identifying possible replacements. Venezuelan defender Fernando Amorebieta was linked with a possible move last week, and now, Paris St. Germain star Mamadou Sakho is the latest central defender to be linked with a move to Anfield. The powerful defender is also reportedly interesting Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Daniel Agger's Agent today confirmed that Liverpool are stalling on offering the defender a new contract, and with Skrtel recently confirming that he'd received several offers this summer, things are looking a little precarious in central defence right now.

Liverpool were also linked with a move for Sakho last summer, and Lyon are currently trying to sign the defender on loan, but according to Bernard Lacombe, personal advisor to Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas, there is little chance of Sakho leaving PSG. He told Be1nSport:

"PSG replied 'no' to us both on sport and administrative levels. Sakho is very difficult to get because he was educated at PSG. They are forced to register four players educated by the club in the Champions League, so they will not part with him"

The arrival of Thiago Silva at PSG would seem to suggest that Sakho's days as a first team regular could be numbered, but the €15m-rated France International sees things differently, and hinted that he could be open to a move. He told le10Sport:

"I will not make a career choice just because a new player arrived at the club. There are much wider considerations that that. However, when it comes to my future, we will see".

Given Lyon's problems trying to sign him, it appears that Sakho is going nowhere for now.

  1. as you say it seems hes going nowere so whats the point of the post.i know you like to keep us updated but lfc just see to be going backwards in this transfer window imo i dont think we will sign anyone of note but i expect more to leave, think fsg got rid of kk because he knew the true lack of depth in this squad and they had no intensions of trying to improve it ,rodgers is going for cheap medioca signings and the football upto now as been far from entertaining

  2. Sakho just signed a new contract with his club. Not likely..

  3. rodgers is having to go for cheap because kk blew all the money on some of the worst players to ever wear a ted shirt, if br had the money kenny had last season then we would be flying. unfortunatly we now have to live within our means.   although a lot of supporters dont seem to understand that and think we should just go out and get in serious debt.  people need to remember we were hours from  not existing before fsg saved us.

  4. kk bought players under fsgs rules young british?living within our means in that case no champions league for the forseeable future by the way what happens to all the money the club genarate were is this going because its not going on players in life you have to pay the money or we will be just like everton and fsg did not save us they was plenty of other offers on the table as they was the time before unfortunatly the people who were in charge wanted to lay there own pockets before putting the club and fans first

  5. After sales "....all the money..." included sales and amounted to about £32M. FSG spend only small money on their football arm!

  6. Yes , and we will be limited to BR's "former players" Allen and Dempsey but a possible former keeper Der Vries to cover Reina leaving.

  7. That's an overstatement really. There were other bidders for the club beside FSG...in the end the club opted for FSG. The Americans got the club on the cheap...$300M, one-tenth of Manchester United valuation at $3B. NO WAY a club of prestige with one of the most marketable brands like Liverpool is worth a fraction of Manchester's value. Now the Americans are even struggling with coming up with $10M just to sign Dempsey, a player the owners have already acknowledged a liking. Only able to cough up $11M for Borini. The latest revelation is BR is likely to dip into the loan market. Last season's big-ticket purchases have been mostly financed by the sale of Torres and Meireles, instead of owners own money. The stadium that has been promised has been delayed for a long time. I am a believer of actions, not words. I have not been impressed by FSG

  8. And why didnt we buy Gylfi when we had the chance. Now he has scored 3 goals for Spurs. Stupid FSG policy.

  9. I've not been too impressed with the goings on at the club this summer but lets wait until we've played 8-10 games in the league to see if br can move the club forward before we het on the owners back because I believe the squad is not as bad as some supporters make out.

  11. FSG are just starting to act like our previous owners, big promises with no actions. Say they have the money to compete financially with anyone (Tom Werner stated this), yet reports say we cant afford anyone, yet we have 50mill from standard chartered and warrior combined yearly :/ and thats just a start. FSG are really starting to worry me, they seem to be willing to sell all our top players to make money and replace them with cheap mediocre players, all this while they claim they wanna be in the UCL?? They dont seem to realise to get into the UCL they need to buy the quality to get us there. They are becoming a joke tbh. Im actually hoping that these reports of us having no money are far off the truth and just paper talk. Im pretty sure they have money, as there is around 15 investors in FSG, but whether theyre willing to spend it is another thing.... Hope they dont ruin us!!!! YNWA

  12. El Hadj Douf, Bruno Cheyrou, Salif Diao, Josemi, Morientes, Dosena. Aquilina, Phil chisnall, Tony Hateley, and many many more all hugely worse than KK' signings.
Make your case by all means but dont exagerate

  15. agree we have been sold up the river again by greedy people who are only custodians of this club why we did not sell to dubia inthe first place is beyond me and i am sure mr moore regrets it to this day then to get a chealsea fan in to sort it out just takes the biscuit

  16. We are are going to be in big trouble with these owners, they are not footballing fans they do not care about the game or the club, they are business men and with that comes the philosophy of lets make as much money as we can. Now to do that they will sell as big as they can and spend as little as posible, now thats fine because we need to make money as well, but we also need to be able to compete with the others and i am sick and tired of people saying that KK spent a fortune of their money, NO HE DIDN'T, what did we make from the sales of Torres, Raul and Babel, yes KK spent alot of money but we got given alot of that, so in business terms they (the owners) have shelled out F$%k all in terms of the footballing world. IMO they gave the job to Rodgers because he will be the least trouble out of all the managers that were out there.
I am not as confident as some of you people when it comes to this season
if i was the owner and the manager had found the players he wanted the deals would be done by now to give the team as much time as they need to prepare for the season. This is just a stalling tactic for the fans but we will see just how wrong it is to get Americans involved in the EPL, baseball is not football (IMO).

  17. Nice to sign new players that improve the team , but there is no way we should let Craig Bellamy leave , most games he plays he is man of the match or close to it . If he does go to Swansea he'll be the first name on the team sheet , as he would've been last season when Gylfi and Joe Allen were there . He really is one of the best , most influential players around . Cannot see the logic of letting him go , and signing people who we'd love to be as good as him , as for the " can't play twice in a week etc " well that's B@@@ocks as the Olympics has just proved . Don't let him go , it would be stupid .
