With Andy Carroll almost certainly on his way out of Anfield this summer, Liverpool will need another striker to bolster the squad's attacking options. Malaga striker Salomon Rondon has been linked with Liverpool several times over the last few months, and with Spanish club going through a period of structural uncertainty, it looks like the player is definitely on his way out of Spain.
Earlier today, Malaga confirmed that Rondon is negotiating a move away from the club, and would not be taking part in the club's pre-season tour of Italy. The club statement read:
"The player [Rondon] remained in the capital of the Costa del Sol because he is immersed in negotiations after an offer was received in the offices of the Rosaleda stadium".
Malaga are currently undergoing a process of "internal restructuring", the fallout from which seems to be that several of their top players are in the process of being sold. When asked about the situation on Thursday, Rondon gave the strongest indication yet that he could leave soon:
"If the situation is not fixed, it is normal that I could leave."
Liverpool's interest in the player was confirmed last week by Pablo Martinez, Rondon's Agent, who revealed:
"Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool are following him. The 27 goals he scored in two seasons did not go unnoticed."
Malaga manager Luis Pellegrini also confirmed that the Spanish club had received 'substantial offers from England' for the striker's services.
Based on Martinez's comments, it's conceivable that one of the 'substantial offers' received by Malaga could be from Liverpool, and with the Venezuelan available for a reported knockdown fee of just €10m, he seems like a realistic target for Liverpool.
Some stats about Rondon from the last two complete seasons:
* 25 goals and 5 assists in 67 league games
* One goal every 196 mins (1 every two games)
* Conversion rate: 15%
* Shooting accuracy: 44%
* Shots per goal: 6.6
Worth a bid?

Wouldn't it be gr8 if we had signed 2 or 3 players already , an injection of more pace in this window would be appreciated coz were not moving at all and bcoz of this we are in the market for loans now good gracious. All this uncertainty is such a dampener leaving no room for optimism.
ReplyDeleteHis going to Russian Club Rubin
ReplyDeleteSpurs are just dotting the i's on Rondon, will be unveiled early next week.
ReplyDeleteThat is just a rumour, not a fact. The confirmed facts are:
ReplyDeletea) LFC, Spurs, Tottenham and some unnamed German clubs are interested
b) An offer has been made by an unnamed club
C) Rondon is 'negotiating'
Seems like there are no i's on rondon to be dotted, lfc might very well sign him
ReplyDeleteLfc is a team which a full of history. But during some years LFC performance were very poor and could have been relegated.. So, to come back on the winning track, we should buy players with future potential and so also try our best to finish in the tpo 4......
ReplyDeleteSpurs and Tottenham are interested. Blimey
ReplyDeleteAnd he is going to Rubin Kazan. Offer made by Rubin, been accepted and now they're just finalising it
ReplyDeleteThere's no factual proof/quotes etc of that yet.
ReplyDeleteNo but the local media are reporting that and that's probably more likely to be right than your supposition that LFC may have made a bid
ReplyDeleteNeither is Carroll leaving or Rondon being linked with proof. Yet again it's Jaimie K and his shite reporting.
ReplyDeleteGive it up mate, until you have proof !!!!
May be a good purchase for the said money (Though I doubt, because with the Arab owners, Malaga are certainly not in a position to sale a quality Latin forward). Also, I don't think with CL football under a top Latin Manager (Pelligrini), Rondon 'll come to new league & under new & relatively unknown Manager without CL football.
ReplyDeleteBringing Rondon might help us other way as well. My worst fear of Woy & KD era is going to dent us, until we reestablish our-self as a global club. Those two Manager turned LFC into a North England mid table club with only British players welcomed. Hullier & Rafa had great global reputation & contacts, didn't have enough money, but still we could bring top quality Latin or Main-land European players; not any more, even with top money.
For this, I was hoping for AVB, Deschamps or Klopp to take over & bring some top global young talents. I have my full support for BR, but if he also goes the wrong route of Brits only, I don't think, he 'll survive long. British Isles don't produce top talents any more & yet the players are super priced. Rondon could help us to establish the image of LFC which was dented by the treatment given to Acqualini, Mireales, Kyut or Maxi (to establish British craps like Henderson, Spearing, Downing, Carroll & Adam)
Carroll and this guy are similar, what's the point in getting rid of carroll if we r getting a player simlar to him? Rondon likes scoring with his head and last season he did the same. Rather get a smaller player who fast and can play upfront with borini and suarez.
ReplyDeletethere is proof buddy! now lets see, ah yes... HIS MANAGER AND AGENT!! And jaimie never said it was liverpool, just that it may be liverpool due to previous comments from malaga. -_-
ReplyDeleteCant see it happening, as much as I hope it does, 29 year old Dempsy has been earmarked for the same role,
ReplyDeletebtw, spurs are tottenham :)
ReplyDeleteGet your facts right, please. When I laid out the facts, did I mentioned an LFC bid? No. The player's Agent has stated that LFC are interested; that is far more persuasive and factual than speculative stories in the press. Additionally, the club itself stated that they'd received offers from an English club. Again, much more persuasive than press speculation. If you want to believe what you read in the papers though, be my guest. I'll keep putting more faith in actual quotes from people directly involved with the player and Malaga.
ReplyDeleteClearly, you cannot read properly, or you're just incapable of comprehending the simplest facts.
ReplyDeletePrecisely. Thanks for interpreting the article fairly.
ReplyDeleteKeep Carroll
ReplyDeleteThe players agent said Liverpool were interested back in June. Since then nothing - now Kazan are on the scene. Your article says "its conceivable that one of the substantial offers...could be from Liverpool" so you've guessed basically. It could "conceivably" be from Arsenal, Spurs or even Wigan. Doesn't mean it is
ReplyDeleteYes. I know. I was being sarcastic because he said Spurs and Tottenham were both interested. Thanks though
ReplyDeleteI haven't 'guessed' anything - Based on the statement of Malaga's manager (English clubs are interested) combined with the Agent's statement on recently (LFC are interested) I suggested that LFC could reasonably be one of the clubs interested. I didn't say they HAD made a bid. I have better things to do than waste time on explaining the obvious over and over to someone as pedantic as you.
ReplyDeletehard lines you upset the boss your banned but we know you will be back ynwa
ReplyDeleteOk. When he signs for Kazan in the next few days you can apologise then. Cheers
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would ever describe something spoken by an agent, whose livelihood depends on transferring / resigning players to the highest bidder, as REVEALING.
ReplyDeleteAnother two weeks to go for season to start and the misery continues, this player and that player linked everyday. What is going to happen is Liverpool will sign a few loan players for players who have already left eg Maxi, Doni and Kuytif. Some permanent players may come in only if the Agger, Skertle, Johnson, Pepe or Suarez leaves. All the negotiations that Liverpool have been working on are just covers in case some of the top players leave. Borini is the only quality purchase for this Window. At the moment Liverpool has cover for Agger, Skertle and Johnson. So these players can be sold to generate revenue. Then only will Liverpool sign Ramirez or Joe Allen. Cannot see two midfielders coming in at the same time and no cover for striker. The striker could be a loan move eg Adibayo who has not agreed to continue his loan spell with Spurs. If Bellers leaves, then Liverpool will be able to cover Adibayo's wages with what they have been paying for Maxi,Kuyt and Bellers. BR mentioned about the transfer trigger. That trigger could happen if Mansour City or Barca pay £25 million for Agger and Real pays £15 million for Johnson and Zenit from Russia pays £20 million for Skertle. Only great news I want to hear from now is that all these players are sold and their transfers will bring in the funds to buy some quality players with technicall skills, pace and game intelligence.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer Demba Ba, personally i think he would be just what we need, a goalscorer and for almost the same price.
ReplyDeleteAll this presumption is no good for anyone, one thing for sure,
ReplyDeletei hope we never see Carra, Spearing, & Adam in the the
Liverpool team together ever again, if we do you can forget
top 4.If we sign anyone they must have pace whatever
their position, our lack of pace against Gomel was glaring.
I have a question? Why does every headline in relation to this website end with a question mark? Why has so far nothing that I've read come true? How many times can the word bid be used to finish a sentence? I have some questions, what is the IQ of JK? Why for one instance would he believe the agent was telling the truth? Oh and I saw this story about 3 weeks ago on a website that actually has a level of authenticity that I have yet to experience on here...it's name talksport...says it all!!
ReplyDeleteMy god how depressing are you! Swansea have already confirmed we have made approach for Allen so how is that a cover.
ReplyDeleteThe pettiness can subside now that Rondon has officially signed for Rubin.
ReplyDeleteSo do Chirag Vyas and I get our apology now. Rondon signed for Rubin Kazan last night. As Vyas said.
ReplyDeleteApology for what? When are you going to understand this: I deal in facts. At the time I wrote the story, there were no facts to prove that Rondon had signed for Rubin, just speculation. As a comparison, it would be incorrect to say today</b. that Joe Allen had signed for Liverpool. This is not a fact, is it? It is speculation at this point. If Allen signs for Liverpool tomorrow, then it becomes a fact.
ReplyDeleteJust the fact that Vyas said he was going to Kazan and you dismissed him and the local papers - despite the fact that generally speaking local papers are clued up pretty well. The point is all the info you initially posted was from the agents quotes from 23rd June, and by that, you perceived that Liverpool 'might' make a bid. Thats based on nothing other than your guesswork. Vyas' information was more up to date and correct!
ReplyDeleteconfirmed facts? because his agent said? dont make me laugh...
ReplyDeleteDone deal, Rubin Kazan have signed him... Unlucky, he would not have moved to Liverpool anyway. He would have wanted to go to a top 6 team.
ReplyDeleteI guess just like Gylfi Siggurdsson, you got it all wrong.
ReplyDelete
