Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers revealed yesterday that he hoped to tie up deals for one, 'possibly two' players by the end of this week. Speculation is rife that Real Madrid's Esteban Granero is on Liverpool's shopping list, but judging by his latest comments, it doesn't look like he'll be leaving anytime soon.
During a visit to Real Madrid's football academy yesterday, Granero - nicknamed 'El Pirata' by Madid's fans - reiterated his love for for the club. He told the assembled recruits:
"As a child I dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and I've made it.
"If that's your dream too, be sure to make it come true.
"I never had the chance to be in this sort of campus when I was a kid because they hadn't been developed yet.
"Learn from your coaches and be sure to enjoy yourselves and to feel proud for wearing the Real Madrid shirt".
€10m-rated Granero clearly loves Real Madrid, and I sincerely doubt he'd be saying things like this if there was any chance that he'd be moving to Liverpool, especially if it was his 'childhood dream' to play for the Spanish giants.

Footballers hyperbole changes from day to day. He probably being told what to say by some conniving agent with motives so convoluted, who knows what they might be.
ReplyDelete"I never thought of joining Liverpool, I am Roma player" - F. Borini , June 2012
ReplyDeleteI thought I read that Real had already turned down a bid from LFC. Chances of Real selling is not high, now the player himself declared his love for Real, so I think we better look elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteF.Borini , Liverpool player July 2012
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see his team mate Sahin here, which maybe doable if Modric goes there. Career has stalled at Real (no surprise really as Alonso-Khedira have that area of the team on lock down) but he was really good at Dortmund. Canales too would have been a good alternative to Ramirez but the poor lad has rotten luck with long term injuries and Valencia have a option on him anyway.
ReplyDeleteIf Modric does go to Real, me thinks at least one central midfield departure will be on the cards from there. They put out another central midfield Gago on loan last season to Roma (but has returned to Real, although by recent comments by his agent, he won't be there for long), so they are somewhat overloaded with options in central midfield. Though wages could be a stumbling block.
Whats the chances of prying Sahin away a better player than Granero anyway.
ReplyDeleteCarroll on "loan "- HAVE WE LEARNT NOTHING FROM AQUALLANI ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
ReplyDeleteWho knows. But this is the same club that were throwing away far better players Sneijder, VDV and Robben for decent prices
ReplyDeleteroma have officially confirmed that liverpool have made an offer..
ReplyDeletehe will be our first signing
Well with i've seen ov Borini i'm not impressed! i'd sooner keep Carroll. ok he may not fit into Rodgers style of play but it's better to have options? towards the end of the season he looked a lot better. Terry and Ivanovic couldnt handle him when we played Chelsea. he's a nightmare for defenders and at 22 - 23 will only get better. lets get Sturridge or dempsey and gaston ramirez YNWA
ReplyDeletetoo early to tell yet. Roma only just fully bought the player's rights. I don't how much value they hold for him, but they might want support for Bojan and Totti up front. I think that we can do better really.
ReplyDeleteReally do not like having to do business with Italian clubs.
ReplyDeleteBut BR must rate Borini.
rodgers is the man of the situation he will do a good job at livpool i am confident in that
ReplyDeletethey've also got two other fairly good strikers (Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo), they don't particularly 'need' borini.
ReplyDeleteWho says he is going on loan Ray? The press are guessing all the time and the club are saying little (the usual denial of a player coming in the Echo are club leaked). The irony is for years we leaked to much information now we've gone back to keeping our own counsel fans believe press speculation. I don't for a minute believe Carroll will leave on loan it wouldn't benefit us in the slightest.
ReplyDeletekeep andy .the lad is coming good mark my words. also awilling player chases back . and clears his fair share in own penalty area . lets give him a fair crack. need to put decent balls in. maybe play sg down rhs midfield?
ReplyDeleteor martin kelly at rb and push gj to rhs of midfield . gj does his best work in last 3rd . but fair play to him he was great for england in euros
ReplyDeletegoals pay the rent andy c ,semi final . fa cup final .best header in euros.he puts the shits up most defenders .lets give the lad achance. hes only 22 given the right service he will justifey the 35 million fee .but dont forget he didnt set the fee .we got ac plus 15 million for the ladyboy
ReplyDeleteI would prefer Gaston Ramirez tbh, also i would`nt mind Clint Demsey, he`s proven himself a good finnisher in the prem, and with lesser players around him, that shows to me he would be a really good addition to our team, but who knows who where really after? it will all be reveiled soon enough. RedMan4Life.
ReplyDeleteWhat has that got to do with this article? This is about Esteban Granero, not Andy Carroll
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like about Rodgers is he is keeping the business behind closed doors, which might be frustrating for the fans, but that is the Liverpool way
ReplyDeleteWhen will the lemmings get it.. thanks to Dalglish we are viewed as a mid table crap team with no future.. the only players we are getting now are mediore crap like dempsey and allen... it's going to take oil money to get us back to the top... and FSG have already proven they are incompetent.. they have no clue what it takes to build a world class football club..
ReplyDeleteRussian or Arab oil money is clear road to recovery and eventually glory.Didn't we have that opportunity but opted for Yank money ?
ReplyDeletegood shout
