"He's outstanding!" - Alan Shearer hails LFC's new £12m signing (Plus first photo)

Finally, some real action in the transfer market! New Liverpool striker Fabio Borini passed his medical earlier today, which means his signing should be announced officially later this afternoon or tomorrow. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about signing Borini, and goalscoring legend Alan Shearer is convinced that Liverpool have signed a brilliant player.

Earlier today, Shearer - the Premier League's record goalscorer - enthused:

"Liverpool have got an outstanding player in Fabio Borini.

"Another player Chelsea should of never let go".

One of the reasons I'm excited about the signing is that it could mean that Luis Suarez will finally get to play in his best position: the right side of a front three, just like he did for Ajax.

Eight months ago, I wrote an article arguing that Kenny Dalglish should play Suarez behind the main striker, but that never came to pass, and in my view, Suarez's talents were wasted for large parts of the season. Hopefully, we'll see something like this next season:

------------------------ Borini

Dempsey (?) ------------------------------- Suarez

Suarez and Borini could also interchange, which provides another interesting option.

Joe Cole will also be at Liverpool next season, and Shearer believes the 31 year old attacking midfielder still has a lot to offer the club:

"Next season, I hope that Joe Cole can be a regular at Liverpool. He gives 110% no matter what, He deserves a chance".

I'm not convinced by Cole, and I doubt he'll be anything more than a bit-part player, especially if Alberto Aquilani is in the squad. However, I'll happily be proven wrong, and if Cole does well, it can only be good for the club.

Fabio Borini earlier today after completing his medical. It looks like he's been handed the number 6 shirt for now, but when Carroll leaves, I imagine he'll inherit the number 9 shirt.

  1. Joe cole is out of date dempsey will be bought because the american owners we are all waiting on gaston there is no way he will buy a player he hasnt managed before he has been put in to save and cut price team. player coming in will only be fulham wigan swansea and borini cause he was with him at chelsea. there will be no big signing

  2. I do like the 'Dempsey?' inclusion. Each of the front 3 can then play in each position. Makes for a fluid attack, and a nightmare to defend against..

Might be one of the reasons Carroll is claimed to be moving on. Not able to adopt different positions. Makes us more predictable.

  3. Finally a signing and a sensible one at that, i wonder if we are looking at Alan Dzagoev or Vaclav Pilar rather than Dempsey for that position , coz they're much younger , yet equally skilful

    ReplyDelete
  4. He does look a real prospect...

I agree with Suarez sitting just behind a striker (left or right), although we might see an inter-changing top three, looking at Borini and his stats it seems he can also play just behind a striker, so we may not have an out and out striker but a fluid attacking three up top able to adapt.

Good signs and a real solid message to the attacking options we have now, pull your socks up or move on, especially when we consider the young players we have just on the edge of the first team waiting for an opportunity... interesting times ahead :)

  5. I'm unsure about Borini but to be fair i dont know a great deal about him. One thing is for sure though players like Jelavic and Demba Ba is proof that you dont have to spend big to compete all the time. the premiership is a lot different to the Italian league though and i just hope he can adapt to it. Big Andy was great towards the end of last season but i agree with it possibly being a problem with Rodgers style of play. but i think Borini and Dempsey would be two fair buys. In regards to Cole? i agree Jaime i'm not convinced but we all know he was a top player a few seasons ago whether he still is or not is the big question? he was rusty in his first season at Lpool but he looked a lot sharper at Lille. I've got a good feeling about Brendan rodgers. 6. I'm not convinced by this signing at all 12 goals last season is not exactly what I would call prolific. I think we've been had once again, overpriced, mediocre, mid table player

  7. Personally feel this will be the year some of our youth come through, Suso and sterling could play a big part.

                Borini
    Sterling Suarez Suso
           Gerrard Lucas

although that does leaves us lacking a bit of height.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Still don't think Dempsey is worth the buy at his age.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rather have Scott Sinclair or Hoilett player on the left. Both have pace, flair and a eye for goal. Plus, they are about 21-23 year old and will be able to play for us for many years to come. Can we say that about Dempsey? I don't think so!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I agree with you 100 % .

We wanted Gaston Ramirez and will be getting Dempsey. It's not like we want Liverpool rival Chelsea and City for Hazard, Ramirez would be realistic target. But the owners will not allow spending while ambitious clubs are using last unrestricted season to get their teams sorted.

  11. Exciting and happy days ahead! A great signing for the club at a great price, not just for football reasons, but hopefully from a commercial shirt-sales aspect too. He'll be a great character.

  13. Brendan Rodgers is a good manager and will
need to give him the time and respect to complete the job just as he has
embraced the ethos and the tradition of the club, "what we need to
avoid is becoming like Chelsea who are happy to change manager like a
    back street prostitute changes men".

  14. Kanwar,

Eight months ago you were saying LFC should never have bought Suarez and should sell him at the end of the season! Now you're contradicting yourself! but that's nothing new

    ReplyDelete
  15. Alan shearer doesn't have a twitter account it's a fake account.

    ReplyDelete
  16. End of the day it doesn't matter what any of us think, does it. And the last un-prolific striker we bought from abroad did alright didn't he? We are the '8th best' team in England, we'll get who we are given!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Any news on Gaston Remirez.

    ReplyDelete
  18. People said the same thing about Gary Mcallister..

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why, how tall do you have to be to play the ball on the floor?

    ReplyDelete
  20. It's not a contradiction at all. I have no control over Suarez's situation, and the reality is he's going to be at LFC for the foreseeable future. As such, I'm merely facing the reality. It doesn't change my views on Suarez though - if it was down to me, I would sell him, but it's not down to me.

Also, I argued for LFC not to sign Suarez in December 2010, which is over a year and a half ago, not 8 months.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't know why people write off Cole so much- If he's used as an impact sub he will possibly lay claim to highly benefical influence at the end of the season. The man has alot of talent and if he's able to settle into this fresh approach then I don't see why he couldn't be a success.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Very true. average height of the Spanish team was 5ft 7''. just hope we are as successful as they are!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dempsey is Werner's signing, he has already said he wanted him, no coincidence he is being signed just before we go to America.

    ReplyDelete
  24. He wont be coming!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Barcelona are the shortest team in Europe yet have been the overwheminly best team in the past 5 years. Besides, Rodgers' approach doesn't demand a great deal of height, hence the use of short, ground passes. If we plan to pass it around and then aimlessly cross it in like last year (there was never anyone in the box which makes you ask why they even bothered!!), then height would be useful....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good goalpoacher and just what we needed, now get Dempsey!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm hoping Borini turns out to be a good signing, he seems to be highly rated so could be a good piece of business. Dempsey is the one I'm really not sure about, he's pushing 30 for a start. I thought FSG only wanted to buy young players with resale value? I think he's a decent player but not any better than what we already have. He has no pace, limited ball skills and can't beat his man, surely we should be looking at players with the ability to create chances for himself and others given what position were expecting him to play. Ramirez was the one for me but failing that Adam Johnson, Krasic, Moses or give Sterling a go. I know we just have to trust Rodgers but I just don't think Dempsey is anything more than a money making thing considering the up coming tour of America.

    ReplyDelete
  28. yeah i remeber that, but we gotta move on, we all do it as fans, i do it about lucaas i havent forgave him for costing us the the league a fews yrs back even now for the right price but i admit my issues are personal non footballing, similar to JK i think it was the race issue the promted JK to say get rid.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree. I think he could be a game changer, the sort of player you want to bring on when things go a bit stale or a 0-0. He's still a very clever player and could create chances with a bit of skill or a clever pass

    ReplyDelete
  30. Obviously with respect, but Serie A is (generally) a more difficult league to score in than say, Premier League, Bundesliga, so 12 isn;t at all bad, especially as Borini was out injured from Oct-Jan...

That is what we are saying Borini for Liverpool that is a great signing. Now go and get Dempsey:

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wonder how much Shearer has seen of Borini as I'm always doubtful about these bloody pundits and their conclusive but hollow views. Anyhoo, Borini looked decent from the few games I saw for Roma, considerably better than Bojan in terms of performances. Got a really good work ethic to go with his ability, which will be handy for when we press without the ball from the front.

Suarez, for me, should be the main striker but in a interchanging attack. He is great in the channels and taking players on in and around the box. He isn't really what I would call a central second-striker (for Uruguay, it is either Ramirez or Forlan who take up that role usually), more of a roaming forward but starting from the top or wide.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Borini is not a player that excites me but then again neither is Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique, Charlie Adam or Stewart downing. Though there is time for my views to be changed just hope we get Dempsey and play a front 3 of Suarez Borini and Dempsey with a midfield 3 of Lucas Gerrard and jonjo

    ReplyDelete
  34. but honestly Dempsey at LFC is that who we the fans really want to see, if so pls someone justfy this transfer as i cant see why we should get him, is it the sign of the times when we accept that we now buy a player 29yrsold from fulham....????

    ReplyDelete
  35. But they are not Americans

    ReplyDelete
  36. age is relative, some of our better and most productive players were maxi and bellamy.

    ReplyDelete
  37. waiting for news on gaston ramirez just the sort of player we need a playmaker even tho aquaman is staying the more creative players we have the better

    ReplyDelete
  38. Beat me to it

    ReplyDelete
  39. John Henry will not allow Rodger to spend £7.5M on a player who will be 30 in 7 Months.  Why don't people listen to what the owners say? And that was we won't be buying anyone over 25 years of age. Borini is in Liverpool having his medical as I type.

    ReplyDelete
  40. 200 games, 58 goals and 15 assists in an average Fulham team. Technically very sound and fights like a demon, very aggressive player. He will put in a shift every game and creates problems for defenders, on a 3 year deal it makes sense.

Charlie Adam is a possible swap for Dempsey and not Carroll, watch this space!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well, I don't know if everyone wants to see it, but if he does arrive we should all support him. I think there are several reasons for Dempsey: he will be cheap because of the one year left on his contract (probably no more than £6mil - remember we have a limited budget). Also, he is a proven goalscorer in the Premiership and that is what we need. But most of all, I think it is because of his versatility, he can play in almost any position in midfield or in the front three. And people seem to have this idea (I had it for a long time) that at 30 a player suddenly becomes 'too old', if you look to the Italian league there are players closer to 40 who are still able to play at a high level. Yes, I know that the Italian league is different (and arguably worse) but he has game left in him, for sure. Sorry for the essay.

  42. Not happening!!!!

  43. shearer hasn't got twitter.. it's a fake account mate

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yeah but your're still saying one of the reasons you're excited is that Suarez can finally play his best position? If you wanted someone out of the club you would not be excited about that player would you?
The 8 month thing, yeah I got that wrong it was virtually the whole of the season you were beating your drum about getting rid of him!

  50. now that the borini deal is concluded, please br go for ramirez. you might not need to buy anyone else there after if funds are the limiting factor

    ReplyDelete
  51. looks like bologna are auctioning him off and not sticking to original price.

    ReplyDelete
  52. hmmm im just not to sure, if u look at stats over style or effectiveness, team play ambition etc then why was he at fulham for so long before he got recognised for hi abilities?? now what i do agree with is that we are now direct competion for fulham in terms of league position so yes its better to have than not have him, but i feel its this mentality that has put is here in there 1st place last season was proof enough not to trust stats on a player, 30 is not ver the hill asweell but if u peak at 29 then come on... what good have u been doin for the last 12 yrs?? just sayin. i admire dempsey from a far the min he puts on a lfc shirt i epect him to play for like a player at a club that has won everything, ive visitied anfield the stadium and the trophy room is immense any player seeing that may question his ability after being at little fulham. i support Liverpool football club so i hope if he comes he does well and will have my backing but i will criticisie any play who under performs.

The same Shearer who hailed Carroll a GENIUS

    ReplyDelete
  54. Shearer has never called Carroll a 'genius'. You made that up. If he did, post a link to the comment.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That is all fair enough. Definitely. The only thing I would say is that some players do just peak very late in their careers. I'll admit, Dempsey is not world-class by any means, but he will be like (a more prolific) Dirk Kuyt and I don't think there will be a question of under-performing through lack of effort. But yes, you are right.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I so agree, but there are so many people going around simply saying 'not happening' without providing sources. But I suppose he will end up as a benchwarmer at Man City if it goes to an auction...

    ReplyDelete
  57. shearer also said carrol would be amazing !! and cole still has things to offer us lol enuff said

    ReplyDelete
  58. Now that Borini deal is reaching conclusion, Brandon would be trying to bring in Demsey before the team departs for their US tour. Although this could be purely a commercial signing, Demsey is a quality signing and will fit in well into the Brandon Rodgers playing model. Hopefully the Ramirez deal can be closed and we will have a reasonably good forward line that will compete from start of season.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Go on newsnow and ead an EPL Index article showing stats on 2yr old strikers...he's comparable (just slightly behind) with Torres at that age in terms of goals per minutes ratio....he spent a lot of last season on d bench, and a lot of time on the right side of a front 3...possibly the position BR will use him...or perhaps he and Suarez will inter-change throughout the game, an idea i like more...

    #justsayin...

    ReplyDelete
  62. So I know the article isn't about Dempsey, but I see a lot of complaints about his age, and I wanted to point something out: Yes, he's nearly, however, he's only been playing professionally for 8 years, with 2 of those being in the MLS. The point is, he didn't grow up in England where he was playing in a physically demanding league from the age of 17, he played Club soccer in the US, then college, then MLS, and has only played professionally since he was 21. So yea, he's 29, but his health is probably closer to that of a 25 year old, and he's also an exceptionally hard worker with no injury history. I think he has at least three years left at the top of his game

    ReplyDelete
  63. Dempsey maybe 29years old but hes proven himself with 29goals last season, whats thier not to like about him? his age dont be silly if he does what he done for Fulham last season with a lesser team, (no disrespect to fulham fans but its true) Dempsey will be worth every penny, with his fitness levels as good as anyones at Liverpool his great touch his movement off the ball and his eye for "GOAL" which evaded nearly all our team last season, how can anyone not see that he will bring wisdom and confidence around the players, which in turn will bring excitement to our team, to me its a no brainer, and because of him being American this will only benefit our team over the period hes at Anfield, with sales of merchandise to the youth of America, which will maybe give our manager, the resources to go and get these players that a lot of supporters want to see at our beloved club. So I think that might make some supporters, think a little more about the actual reality of a player who will bring some much needed Goals, and assist that only bellamy and Maxi could muster up, with fewer games than most other midfield and forward players last season and i think thier age didin`t hinder thier performances do you? Rome wasin`t built in a day, but Brenden is going the right way about cementing a team, that will bring us back into contention with the best teams in Europe. So before we judge lets give BR our support its a long road ahead, but i feel BR is the man that will take our club back up to the top. "Patience" is the key to our revival, success will follow. RedMan4Life keep the faith.

    Good post my friend.!

    ReplyDelete
  67. totally agree with your point about pundits - and for me, Shearer is the worst out of all of them, I think he just chats sh!te and has very little credibility as a pundit. Yeah, excellent striker in his day, but nothing but a state the obvious buffoon who really offers little, if anything, in regards to analysis and whatnot.

But Borini is a good player, I have seen a couple of higlighted games and he looks the business. He's young so is still developing so he can only improve.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I wouldn't want that mercenary returning to this Club - as far as i am concerned he has burnt all his bridges; i'm actually delighted that his career has nosedived since he left us. After Madrid he chased the money to Newcastle and snubbed us again . . .

The fact that he has played for manure as well . . . sacrilege ...

    ReplyDelete
  69. take a chill pill guys, i think BR's first signing will do us good. dempsey at his age has already outplayed some of our midfielders when we played them so who said he can't play? about Carroll, he probably wont feature much or perform in the new structure so its always good to keep the player's options open by allowing him to go on loan or leave for another club. one person i dont see getting mentioned much, or at all, is adam. I dont see how he can fit into the team now that aquilani n hendo are possibly going to be centre mid kingpins. throw in lucas and gerrard, there really isn't much to suggest our new season will be a mess. im excited by news everyday and I cant wait for the season to start. Don't forget we have 3 big home games to kick off, and then we have Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs sometime in Oct/Nov (can't remember). Time to tear the other teams apart...!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Sorry Bill i have to disagree. The owners will allow Rodgers to sign Dempsey for 7.5 Million pounds if means he can fire the team into a promising Champions League position. Everybody including the owners have been blown away by Dempsey's goal scoring feat last season as he simply played out of his mind. The player had finally found his form. Some player peak late like Dempsey while others peak early and burn out late like Micheal Owen. Our is not to question why ours is just take advantage of his current condition. One more quick fact with many English fans have tried to forget. During the last world cup competition in South Africa, England played against the U.S.A. Guess who scored the winning goal against England?

Owners have said that they want to pursue a policy of attracting hot young talent . I believe that they will indeed stick with that policy but i feel that they will make the exception from time to time if the player is exceptional or is believed to be able to make a positive impact on the squad. That is why Kenny was allowed to bring Craig Bellamy last season. At 33 he is well past 25, but he was really cheap and his acquisition was seen as a real bargain. Dempsey is 29, while clearly not a long term solution would be more of an impact player than Bellamy was last season in my opinion. Tom Werner has publicly spoken of his great admiration of Dempsey (feel free to do a google search typing Werner, and Dempsey in search box. I did that and i found the article from a website called "Givemefootball.com" written on May 03, 2012 with a heading that reads. "Liverpool chairman drops Dempsey hint." There is no need to read the whole article to know what the gist is about.

Liverpool is about to make another exception to their transfer policy and yeah they will pay what they feel is a fair market price for Dempsey. Taking his age into account he will be well within the clubs price range. Goals , goals and more goal is the only reason that the club was motivated to pursue Dempsey and not simply because he is an American player like some of you would like to believe. The champions league being the holy grail of Liverpool foot-ball these days all the signings coming in this summer are designed to reflect players  believed by the club to be able to help the club achieve this goal.

          [??]   Lucas   Gerrard

I could not agree with you more it's the perfect front three the passing and flowing football wants as they can interchange at will a nightmare to defend, however I think Carroll should b kept as every team needs a plan b and it's not worth taking the big loss on as he is improving all the time

    ReplyDelete
  84. well suarez only scored 17 goals and we know how fucking good he is..this borini kid is special im not kidding, watch him on youtube

    ReplyDelete
  85. Both posters above are spot on;

IF Dempsey comes, hand fits glove, perfectly.

Yes he is 29-30 BUT he turned professional at age 21, which means the opposite of what happened to Michael Owen; burn out via overuse at a young age in high competition.

Yes he has only just peaked, so, let's get behind LFC and get someone in their 'groove', maybe he is not 21-26 but he is still passionately in his 'groove' right now and that's what we all whine and moan about, that were not getting this hot player or that one; well we are now.

Yes, we were supposed to buy young upcoming players, but while they learn to be at the hot pressure bed that is our beloved but very high expecting club and learn to grow into that skin as it were, then players like Dempsey, who are used to the expectation of America on their shoulders, shield them while they learn; like a certain Gary McAllister cool senior head, a real asset and one more mentor for the younger guys.

Yes, he's American and yes, we going to America and , yes, the American owners are thinking PR. But, seriously how long have we been run like amateurs? At least we now are killing about 50 birds with one stone, do you know how many premier league teams are doing the rounds in America this pre-season? There's a few and we have to stand out for a number of reasons commercial and so we can attract the calibre of player we need because they also want fame and the more exposure to market the more likely these 'hot' players will come to play for Brendan Rodgers and LFC rather than the end buck; ie. exactly hhe point BR was making about sigurdsssswhatever, that it should be for both a good wage and passion to play, because only one of them makes you go that extra mile you need to win against the so called 'big boys'.

Anyway, as a whole I think Dempsey would be good for our club.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I've just realised that there is a possibility of Borini counting as a homegrown player because he was with Chelsea youth. I'm not sure how old he was when he joined but if it was 18 or under then we have another player that can be put in rather than buying overrated players to fill up those numbers

Not genious, but a massive player with great potential. I remembered shearer hailing him time and again, even at the end of the season(google shearer and Carroll)

helo Borini you are welcome to our big family a club will always be happy of being part of and a club that you will always feel at home, pls we are expecting you to follow the foot step that Luis Suarez has shown on pitch. you are highly welcome.YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.

  105. lol at dempsey playin left of front 3, you haven't got a clue mate

  106. For me if it's a money making thing getting Dempsey, then so be it. You can't forget how good he was for fulham last season 30 or not. You have to Remember that football is business. If we can make money by having a player of dempseys quality on board then great. More money, better players.

  107. It will cost Liverpool a lot if they let teams that are already in better position to outspend them and it seems 5 teams that look better than Liverpool now will outspend LFC too.

Our only hope in getting CL back to Ainfield is miraculous season when everything falls in to place and even luck serves us well... equivalent of CL final  from 5 years ago.

Especially with the FOX documentary on LFC. Dempsey would be paraded like the new messiah at the head of a massive shirt selling bonanza. Bring it on I say.

If we manage to recoup even half his transfer fee from shirt sales in America then I think buying him will be a great piece of business.

Someone said (maybe on this site, not sure though) that "real" football is the fastest growing sport at youth level in America - If that's true then who do you think would be the USA teams pin-up boy for all those young kids taking up football? Hopefully it all adds up to the sound of kerching-kerching-kerching for LFC

  110. Funny, I didn't think Muller or Ozil were American, I thought they were German. The poster said scored the winning goal for USA against England

  111. Dempsey is too old? The people on here suggesting that are putting no value on experience. He is a guy who has bundles of experience in the Premier league, and  the formation posted on here with Suso and Sterling out wide behind a striker is just not realistic as it would leave us lacking in experience and strength. Dempsey would be a solid signing and is about the level we can expect at the moment with no CL football.

Don't forget, Rome was not built in a day!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. When did the owners actually say this? Did they actually real ease a statement or is it media hype? Yes they PREFER younger players, but the fact they have already brought in Bellamy, Downing (!) and Doni would suggest otherwise. Dempsey is a MASSIVE hit in the US, a market FSG are very keen to exploit.

  113. 12 goals in 20 starts in his first season in Serie A at age 21 sounds pretty good to me!

  114. Gaston should have been a must I am happy with Borini, he is young excellent value and foreign, Gaston fits the same mould.......Dempsey is just too old and will be on the decline.

I agree that I am a bit worried by everyone elses shopping this summer, Chelsea have Marin and Hazard, Arsenal Giroud and Podolski and Spurs have Sig and Vertonghen all very good players and those 3 sides are our rivals for 4th.

They all had better squads than us last year and now they have made them even stronger.... hopefully once RVP, Modric and Drogba all go then they will become weaker.

Newcastle have Debuchy now, excellent signing should be a great season

  115. Italians dont do well in our league the last few have been Savio Nsarenko, Diamanti, Bianchi and Aquilani....all of them cost big money and flopped.

This is one of those signings that you have to literally trust Rodgers on, he has worked with him at Chelsea and Swansea and therefore he has no excuse if he flops.

None of us know anything about him, probably nobody outside of AS Roma would know loads about him as he had 1 decent season....

Hopefully he has good movement and takes chances, he is a small lad so I would expect him to have excellent close control and speed, Downings crossing is going to have to get better thats for sure, if he starts.

Please sign Gaston to replace Downing he simply aint good enough

  116. he's wearing number 29.

  117. bench carroll, move borini to the middle, play pacheco on the left and aquilani as LCM and you've got yourself a good lineup

     Dani Pacheco         Borini              Suarez

                   Aquilani                Gerrard

                                  Lucas

    Enrique             Agger      Skrtel              Johnson

                                  Reina

  118. Getting Dempsey is a bad move with financial fair play weather he shines or not no resale value and in what is a young side hopefully on the way up.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I believe Dempsey will be used as the central attacking midfielder of a 3 that would include Lucas and Gerrard sitting deeper. This position was earmarked for Sigurdsson until he went to Spurs. The Swansea central midlfield 3 was Sigurdsson in front of Joe Allen and Leon Britton. Speaking of which, Joe Allen would be a good addition to Liverpool.

  120. Didn't the americans buy 32yr old Belllamy last season? By the way, the 32yr old gave more than the younger players brought in last season. Arsene learnt lessons that u cant win trophies with kids and Wenger bought likes of Podolski for a change.  I believe if the quality is right John Henry will allow to buy above 25yr olds. And Dempsey do have that quality imo.

  121. his point being USA didn't beat England - therefore there was no winning goal for the USA.

  122. yeah right enough mate. i need to brush up on my iyalian

    ReplyDelete
  123. i seem to remember the only reason that goal went in was because of rob green being our goalkeeper

    ReplyDelete
  124. Doni and Bellamy were both free transfers and we only got Downing 'cause we couldn't get young

    ReplyDelete
  125.  Next year teams have to start complying with FFP rules so we won't be able to catch up

    ReplyDelete
  126. I see our rivals for fourth as Arsenal Newcastle (depending if they go for it in the Europa league) and Tottenham.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Of course he looks the business they're called highlights for a reason

    ReplyDelete
  128. i agree i think dempsey will be a great buy considering we paid 35million for carroll when he was injured. what a shambles borini will be a hit with the fans. i also think likes of sterling will got more games under rodgers

    ReplyDelete
  129. For 5-6 mil. we can have Burak Yilmaz from Trabzonspor Turkey. I have watched all Fulham games and lot of Trabzon games last season. Burak is more versatile player then Dempsey. Stronger and faster. So lets think about it. Dempsey is solid player but not what we need.
