VIDEO: Ferguson & Rooney react to Aguero's title-winning goal. Magic!

When the referee blew the final whistle at the Stadium of light earlier, Manchester United had beaten Sunderland 1-0, and Manchester City were losing 2-1 against ten-man QPR, with only stoppage time remaining. United's players thought it was all over, but in the space of three minutes, City pulled off an incredible and snatched away from their greatest rivals. Does it get any sweeter than that?

Here is the moment Sergio Aguero scored the title-winning goal, juxtaposed with the reactions of Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand:

Liverpool have had an utterly miserable Premier League season, and today's defeat at Swansea is just the latest in a long-line of terrible results. Reds fans will not be happy with an 8th place finish, but we can take solace in the pure joy of seeing United robbed of the title right at the death.

There's nothing worse than seeing cheating thugs like Wayne Rooney win title medals, so well done, City!

  4. Not for me! As a liverpool fan, watching the Tv today, reminded me how far behind we are when it comes to the league.  We might have to wait as long as city for the title. Hope im still alive to see it happen! I hope FSG install a young manager and give him 5 years minimum.

  9. thats how shit you are u take solace in other's misery. Quite pathetic. Mind you, pathetic club, pathetic fans, what else is one to expect.

Cheating thugs?? lmfao.... erm Steven Gerrard ring any bells? As far as I know Rooney's not been in court for a charge relating for violent behaviour? He's also not been seen punching a member of the public in the face???

The greatest shame was seeing a racist thug like Suarez lift a trophy, that was a bad thing for football as a whole! And the behaviour of Liverpool fans blindly defending him was even worse!

I'm FED UP of relying on ARSENAL, CHELSEA & NOW CITY to take pleasure  in Manchester United losing the premier league.

We have NOTHING laugh about or take cheer from in the current Manager we have and the players we have.

I sick to death of Dalglish and his press conferences you wait till you hear what he says after todays game you wont be happy.

About time we put our own house in order and got a piece of that action i think. Fair play city and its just so refreshing to see Manure winning nothing, Ps Jamie, Rooney isn't a thug he's a simpleton and doesn't know any better lol. Right FSG get the skates on and move Kenny upstairs and get us a manager who knows what he is doing. YNWA

  15. We need our own glory. wed love to be where utd are now. They challenge every year for trophies, most importantly the league title.  Liverpool winning the league feels 10 years + away at this moment in time. Our summer will be a case of trying to keep suarez, skrtel,agger..etc. And having our pick of second tier players, sad times.  The only way forward is installing a young manager and giving him time, to build a team.

  35. Typical utd fans! bitter to the end! city have played the best football, they have the best players! they won the league! well done city! it might have been a high pressure game but you did it!  as for the Utd fans having a go at liverpool lets set the record straight! while you polish your second place and we polish an actual trophy at what point does coming second or 8th matter? you are in the CL but will you ever be able to win it again? the likelyhood is small! you berate city for spending £30m+ on players but you used to do it before uncle malcom took all your money!! dalglish has brought us out of possably the worst 5-6 years in this clubs history! he was the steady hand! the go to guy! i will never do anything but stand up for him because he is a legend! if it doesn't work this time then he can step away safe in the knowladge he has steadyed the ship!  if you want banter thats fine! but the pure bile spoutted out on these articles time and time again boarders on the insane!!!  the problem i find is because utd have had everything their own way for so long the fans have no appreciation (accept a small few) for what they have actually achieved! they don't want it! they expect it! the difference being liverpool used to do it with class!! Utd never have!!!

  57. Liverpool FC manager Kenny Dalglish responded angrily to suggestions he may not be in charge next season after his side’s disappointing Barclays Premier League campaign ended with a 1-0 defeat at Swansea.
Reports in some Sunday newspapers had suggested that Kenny Dalglish would leave the manager’s position during the summer, with Wigan boss Roberto Martinez being tipped as the man to replace him.
After watching Danny Graham’s 100th career goal condemn them to an eighth-placed finish, Dalglish was asked if he expected to be in the Liverpool FC hot seat next season.
He replied: "I expect the owners to have more dignity and integrity than to believe a story in a newspaper."

  59. "Does it get any sweeter than that " Yes it does , witnessing the once mighty Liverpool 37 points behind Manchester United in the Premiership.
Scraping into the Europa league, courtesy of a League cup win.
Failing in the summer 'again' to attract the worlds top players again through not being anywhere near the Champions league competition 'again '!
City won their first Premiership title after 44 years of a barren period, having spent £500 million pounds to asemble the team , by  goal difference of 8.No premiership title has ever been won on goal difference , till City forged the win against a 10 man team, after another nutty Scouser Barton acted like a Liverpool thug.
They have a premiership title to their name Jamie,do Liverpool?
Keep winding-up United supporters though Jamie, we just look, laugh, at Liverpool, not magic.
Infamy Infamy , they've got it in for me.Says Kenny Dalglish.

  60. I dont understand how some people still want dalglish to stay after the fiasco of this season. Let me refresh your memory:

    1. We are 8th in the league only besting fulham on goal difference
    2. We sit below rivals Everton(7th)
    3. We have the lowest point tally (53) ever, since i dont even remember when.
    5. We lost 13 matches in all which is one third of the total league matches
    6. We lost the FA Cup
    7. We are out of champions league only qualifying in europe thanks to the carling cup

Now my question is: How can u still trust kenny?

  62. WE CAN NOT SUBSTITUTE OURSEVLES INTO THE PLACE OF THE OWNERS AND THE ACTUAL MANAGER BUT WE CAN CERTAINLY VOICE OUT THE CONSEQUENCE WE ARE CURRENTLY WITESSING!
WHO'L BE THE NEXT MANAGER ISN'T IN OUR HANDS BUT ONE THING FOR SURE IS THAT WE DO REMEMBER THE WORDS OF STEVEY G LAST TIME WHEN WE ENDED 2ND '...LIVERPOOL WILL WIN THE TITLE IN 5 YEARS TIME'.
WE NEED THAT PASS AND MOVE FLUID TYPE OF FOOTBALL WHICH GUARANTEED US THE 2ND PLACE SOMETIMES BACK!!!!
CURRENTLY, THER ARE TEAMS RELYING ON PLAYERS BOUGHT FOR BIG MONEY TO CHALLENGE TOP FOUR PLACES, THIS IS WHERE A COACHWHO IS A GOOD TACTICIAN IS VITAL.

WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO RELY ON TOO MANY TO-BLOSOM-TYPE OF PLAYERS TO GET RESULTS.
WE ALREADY HAVE SOME OF THESE- I BELIEVE CAROL, DOWNING, HENDERSON, SHELVEY, ADAMS, SPEARNG ANDLAST BUT NOT LEAST STERLING WILL SHOW A POSITIVELY DIFFERENT PERFORMANCE NEXT SEASON. LUAS WILL BE BACK.HOWEVER WE NEED SUPPORT FOR SUAREZ.

GERARD WILLBE VERY PRECIOUS IN CRUCIAL MATCHES.
BUT WE HOUD NOT BE PLAYING ANYMORE KICK AND RUN TYPE OF FOOTBALL!

Sounds to me that he knows his times up.
Hence the dignity and integrity bit, now he's using EMOTION  to cloud the FACTS which is that this is the WORST league performance in 50 years.

He's not going to resign and will have to be sacked mark my words.
He wants a pay off but will use the pretence of the Love of the Club.
If Kenny really really wants the best for Liverpool he should just say I can't take the club further and GO.
I think many fans who assumed he loved Liverpool so much will be surprised at how difficult he's going to be.

Yup Can't wait to see Rooney threaten to leave again and watch everyone at Manure Panic, Kiss his Arse to try and keep him while throwing ur dignity out the window. Classy Act. the only difference between UTD and how Chelski and Now City won the league is that they have the cash and didn't have to sink themselves into what is it about 3 quarters of a billion debt to do it. Seriously King Go to your own sites and as being honest nobody wants to hear ur sour grapes. Once Again Well done City.

Why will Manchester United not recover from this ,its a young team in transistion, that Sir Alex Ferguson , Liverpools nemisis is building.A few key signings in the summer ,will drastically change the team.
The young United players , need to taste defeat as well as success, to grow.

  78. There's an old saying the truth always hurts...learn to deal with it, the league table never lies. You get what u put in...I don't think kd deserves to get the sack yet but 8th place in league is not success or progress and no one has the right to do that to the club. NO ONE is bigger than the club and remember excuses about hitting the woodwork are for the weak who never win anything major. The other thing is u look at other managers who have spent as well and also did not have the initial support of the fans and still came through all that within the same period. I think in that aspect kenny has had it easier and has lost some of his credentials. Alan patdrew is just one example. Like i said truth hurts and we are worse off in league than last season..

Below are the stats for this season. You don't measure the solidity of your foundations by what you see in the 1st season, We have with our investments bought potential, not the finished team and with 2 good buys in the summer hopefully (and in Kenny we trust) next season the chances we create will convert to goals.

    ReplyDelete
  84. that shows you complete lack of consistency, you take positives from that, good luck, i don't think anybody surrendered the league, they just played isht, bad tactics, lack of ability, no motivation. changing manager because this one is clueless wasted money, played blindly his signings all season without considering if they're playing good or not (henderson started virtually every game, that's a joke to me, dislodged Kuyt,  downing dislodged maxi unbelievable, downing was our worst player this season, quickly followed by Adam) say what you want but you're lying only to yourself

Let joy be unconfined ! Brilliant result by City. Old Rednose must have thought it was in the bag at the end of 90 minutes. What a finish. Right now I don't even care that we lost again today and have completed one of our worst seasons in nearly sixty years. Just so pleased that the MUck got theirs!!! Tomorrow, however, is another day. We might learn exactly what FSG had to say to Dalglish the other day

  86. reading the comments on this article gives credence to a comment I made on another of Jamie K's articles: that this site is riddled with trolling supporters of other teams (especially Manchester United) and to analyze his polls as saying "Liverpool fans" instead of saying "My Readers" is totally incorrect. But you can't tell him anything because he's always right.
Anyways congrats to City and yes I too agree that we can't and shouldn't depend on other teams stopping United as our main source of joy amusement. However I do not suscribe to the sacking/removal of Dalglish. I believe he deserves at LEAST one more season at the helm

i love reading the fans comments. the sack kenny brigade who are probably the same people calling for kenny when roy was in charge. lets get one thing straight all managers need time and money so sacking kenny this early on is not only stupid but also expensive we spent 8 mill getting rid of roy and now you want the club to spend probably more due to kennys high wage to get rid of kenny and no doubt when martinez fails after 6 mths you will want lfc to throw another 8 mill away to get rid of him. give kenny time to build a team and get them playing his way.

if lfc sack kenny to get a manager as piss poor as martinez we will be in worse hands than when roy hodgson had the job and we all know what happened when he had us. sack kenny for him and say goodbye to top flight football.

  92. So we're not allowed to have an opinion then Phil??? LOL I think someone needs a reality check. If i pay my money, to buy my ticket, to see my team. I have the right to have an opinion whether you like it or not. Take of the Rose tinted glasses Phil, all is very not well with LFC. Managers buy the players, pick the team, select the tactics played and therefore are responsible for the team performance. Sorry Phil but you're wrong but i do respect your right to have your opinion, i will not suggest you go follow another club and i will not refer to you as a dimwit but you are a Lemming.

  94. erm RAWK isn't exactly the most welcoming of sites, even for a Liverpool who dares to go against the RAWK majority's perception of norm.

We were probably the first club in England to start off the mass glory hunter movement. Loads of Liverpool supports down south still thanks to the 'history', despite the lack of league success these days. So I doubt their glory hunters will jump ship as they have been around for a long time as the big team in PL.

Our reputation as a club and as fans has taken a battering over the Suarez thing. Nonsense to make out we are some nirvana, in terms of fan support. What was done to Hodgson was a disgrace.

  99. I think more needs to be made about the fact that stability has brought Man Utd prolonged success as a club. Likewise Real Madrid when they were totally dominating in Europe in the 50's-60's. It takes time for a manager to implement a system within a club, likewise time to get to know the players' strengths and weaknesses. Patience within the club is what rewarded the Utd fans with long-term success when Ferguson was being hung by the media, and as a result the more fickle fans. Dalglish knows how to win. He's won the league previously with a team playing his style of football. How easy do you think it makes his job when the media, and again, the more fickle fans, start calling for his head? This man has won leagues and cups. Aside from Football Manager, what have any of you 'armchair fans' won?

Liverpool were sitting in the second division in 1958. They hired Bill Shankley as manager. In 1962 they got promoted to the old first division. In 1964 they won it. Thus begun the most successful 2 and a half decades in their history. Stability and patience wins titles and cups.

    Be patient. Support your team.

  100. Stupid scouse twats taking pleasure out of us losing the title on goal difference to a team that has cost £300 million to put together. We'll be back be sure of that. Fickle fuckers now calling for a new manager probably the same pricks who were spouting off about how "king kenny" was gonna bring the good times back. Sad that you dickeds need our narrow failure to help deal with ur own pathetic situation.

    ReplyDelete
  101. there are no foundations that will give you a good team, more and more players will leave because the team is not reaching it's potential, if you think carroll and hendo are the future, than i wouldn't like to imagine that future. The team's problem is not that it cannot convert chances, but they cannot play as a team, there is no impact from the bench, the quality of players bought in the summer was mediocre to say the least. there is virtually no one who can make a proper pass in the final third, maxi is leaving, shelvey needs time, gerrard is constantly injured. 2 additions would move us up one position in the league or even makes us go below the 10th. LFC plays hopelessly predictable, tactics are all wrong, there is no mentality installed, for 3/4 of the season we banged crosses aimlessly into the box with no effect, should i continue? yep one last thing we out played chelsea 4-1, kenny used the same tactics and players against swansea, the result was 1-0 for the welshmen no tweaking and plan b, KD has no clue how to approach games, whenever the team won it was down to luck, not with the finishing but with the tactics, plus motivation came only from playing proper rivals, especially if they beaten us b4. I rest my case

    ReplyDelete
  102. who actually cares about their reaction - well if that is all we have to shout about how the mighty LFC, the team I have followed for 30 years have fallen. We are a pathetic reflection of the past, signing "the best of british" - hardly for Mascherano and Alonso read Henderson and Spearing - absolute no hopers - we will never win so much as a tombola with them players in the squad....it's about time we stopped being so sentimental about the past and playing the victim card and brought in a manager who is rutheless, takes no crap and is given some serious money but sorry it won't happen cause we are not in the champions league and in decline......how much did Everton spend last summer and where have they finished today????? RIP LFC YNWA

Get ready folks, next year the battle that will be on our hands will be relegation and we be fighting for our lives to stay up as all the other teams in the league are so much better than us....

    ReplyDelete
  137. Totally agreed Gilstrap - as far as I'm concerned Dalglish has been selfish in focusing on the short-term (i.e. playing it safe with the expensive and experienced players), rather than doing what was in the long term interests of the club (taking risks to uncover some new talent). And playing it safe failed.

I don't see any real reason to be optimistic tbh, and am resorting to clutching at straws for a miraculous turnaround next season. The simple fact is that we need new players to get us out of this predicament, and Dalglish has shown nothing to suggest that he should be the man to buy our way out of the mess that he has dug.

This season has been an utter shambles, both on and off the pitch. The man in charge has to be held accountable for it, instead of just moving on all the backroom staff. Hopefully Dalglish will show one bit of class and do what is best for the club now, in stepping down gracefully asap.

    ReplyDelete
  138. It doesn't get much worse than being pitied by a club that is supposed to be a rival. And that is the position that Dalglish has left us in.

That is when he's not making everybody hate us of course...

Please.. Damm it ... Why do we surrender after missing out of 4th place and drift into the abyss >8th place. Turning point - loosing to Arsenal in run in to the 4th place finish. But what do we do throw in the towel and toally neglect the league. This is not on. IMHO the league is the indicator of good teams and bad ones. Unfortunately we are falling on the latter in terms of LFC history.

We needed to fight on in the league till the last match, not when 7, 8 or 9 to still go. Lets face it, Cup matches are a once off in a way, anything can happen, but the league is a true indication of performance !!!

In that note I say lets prioritise the league next season over cups. But whoo got the knowledgable understanding of doinf this. Not KD !!!

  143. "cheating thugs like Wayne Rooney"? Bit rich from a club which condones racism and Gerrard has been known to trip over the odd invisible foot...

    ReplyDelete
  144. I have to disagree that is seen as irrelevant by any LFC fan to watch MU's PL title win count increase.  Nothing has grated with me more than watching them rack up PL title after title with at times, a mediocre & average team.  It's been quite unreal.  To see them "lose" it, in the the fashion they did yesterday is the stuff of dreams.  It's not beneath LFC or any fan to wish nothing but a lack of success on our bitterest rivals.
Belive me, I celebrated that Aguero goal as if it was a Liverpool goal.  It is THAT important.

    ReplyDelete

  151. No, it really is mostly us Liverpool fans, sadly. Go on the BBC blog, its mostly Liverpool fans laughing.  It is sad.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I think this season's problem has been both psychological and tactical. At times, our tactics have really let us down and despite having eleven players on the pitch, it seemed as if we were only utilising 8. Another problem, which is a psychological problem, is that we overcompensated for our failures and ended up failing anyway. To cover for our short-comings, we went the extra mile too far. I credit this for our ridiculously high number of shots which hit the post, and I am afraid Kenny might have influenced our players psychologically into a state of over-compensation.

Dear owners, please get us a team of good sports psychologists! We clearly need one!

    ReplyDelete

  155. I wonder what will happen next season. last night game was awful as usual. The players are frustrated when they play against Swansea and the tactic from KK is not that good. ReplyDelete
  159. When the Evertonians in our office are bantering that they would love Dalglish to stay then its time me thinks he should move on and retire.
Someone said he has built foundations, but they are more foundations of a house of straw not bricks and mortar. As Stevie G gets older, main defender Skrtel is looking for a move, Reina becoming more of a Gary Sprake than a Ray Clemence, the house of Anfield is starting to shake and I think our American benefactors renowned for their ruthlessness at the Red Sox will soon hang Kenny out to dry. They have already gave a few back room blokes the chop from Comoli down obviously cutting back the overheads and it wont be long before the great player as he was will be consigned to the golf course to work on his handicap and a younger man with fresh ideas and outlook comes in.

    ReplyDelete
  160. SAF has moved on with the times he didnt take a long break from football as did King Kenny nor quit because he was stressed out earlier in his career. 186. Delighted. It's possibly my favourite moment in football not involving Liverpool. The last 5 minutes of that game were the best i have ever witnessed in my life considering that we were not in it. As a neutral, rather than a hater of Man Utd, I think it is clear that City deserved it. The press have been against them all year, the pundits have been hypocritical about their players, compared to others, and they bossed Man Utd over two games. If that moment doesn't cause the team to gel, nothing will. They now need another centre back as cover and they will take some stopping.

Now KD has to pull his finger out and make sure we are getting enjoyment from our own team, not others. Another dire performance yesterday, with only Carroll showing any fight, literally, at all. Not good enough and i think the manager's team selections encourage this poor attitude.

  190. It is a reward for Patrice Evra for making False accusation on Suarez. God has punish them all. The worst moment for United is still to come

  191. Erm, Liverpool qualified for UEFA as well... what team do you support? If United, then you are at the wrong forum

  194. Agree with you. I'm a Man Utd fan and I've been on here a few times criticising Dalglish so only fair I show up when United don't win. Let's try and get things in perspective:

first Liverpool (as it's an LFC blog): they're in transition from the '09 team but they've hit a few big bumps in the road - the LFC 'body' rejected the Hodgson 'transplant', and the follow-up 'blood transfusion' (CHAD) doesn't seem to have been of the right type. The good news is that Gillett and Hicks are gone (Liverpool are in a much better situation than United when it comes to debt) and it seems to me that FSG can be ruthless if required and this may be a good thing. If they replaced Dalglish with Martinez, let Gerrard (a 200% player in about 50% of the games), Downing, Spearing, Kuyt, Johnson (can't defend), Suarez (too much baggage without enough goals, although under new management might be worth hanging on to) and Adams go, get Carragher onto the coaching staff and buy in Moses and maybe Ba and a right winger, then with Lucas and maybe Aquilani coming back it could be an interesting team.

As for United - I've said it before, and you say it above, that they're
in transition too, e.g. in that 5-2 game against Spurs, in 2009, United were
playing with Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo and Berbatov on the pitch - there's just
nowhere near that level of quality now. Although we won the league in 2011 we didn't really deserve it by our own previous standards
(although we did "deserve it by everyone else's standards" - copyright
Souness 1984). So I can't be too displeased with this season, what with
significant injuries, Ferguson underestimating the opposition in Europe
more than once (can you believe it - he makes mistakes, maybe he's human
after all), and a lot of new young players trying to fit in (Scholes
and Giggs show some promise). The team pretty much did all that you
could expect of them - I don't think they choked in the usual sense of
nerves getting to them (as in 1992), it was more they met 3 good teams at the wrong
time (Wigan - got 21 points in last 9 games, 2 more than United and
City!, Everton - took more points off City than United, and City
themselves of course). So if United can build on this they could go on
and challenge for the league again next year. Problem is that Ferguson
can't go on forever (United have only had two good managers since 1945) and then there's all that debt.

  195. How are my Liverpool evil?

and secondly, 'most other clubs' is plural, not just one club.

Some people and their inability to read properly

  196. Most United fans and most Liverpool fans over the age of 10 don't care about the 18 times / 19 times stuff. Watch the football and stop staring at statistical tables - its about Fairclough in the St.Etienne match, or Dudek against AC Milan or (a million other things that happen on the pitch).
