Kenny Dalglish has rested several key players for tonight's game with Fulham at Anfield.
In a widely predicted move, the likes of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger, Jose Reina, Luis Suarez and Jamie Carragher have been given the night off, and several fringe players come into the team to fight for the remaining places in the cup final squad.
FULL LINE UP:
Doni, Kelly, Coates, Skrtel, Aurelio, Henderson, Spearing, Shelvey, Kuyt, Maxi, Carroll
It's great to see Raheem Sterling on the bench too:
Subs: Sterling, Downing, Robinson, Enrique, Flanagan, Carragher, Jones.
Jaimie Kanwar

I'm actually pleased with this line-up. Good to see what some of these players are made of. Henderson and Shelvey will have to step up. One will have to play higher up the pitch- Shelvey I'm guessing. Henderson/Shelvey did well together the other day.
ReplyDeleteReally nice to see Aurelio get a game too. I hope fans realise this will be his last hurrah and give him a good send off. Excellent player, shame about the injuries. I'll always remember that the one season he was consistently fit, 2008-9, he was a big part of us nearly winning the title.
Also, surely Sterling will feature at some point. Very good news.
if carra starts before skital on sat he should be sacked for putting his own interests and favourites before the welfare of the club
ReplyDeletethat won't happen as Skital doesn't exist
ReplyDeleteok this is reasonable, all eyes on fa cup final, but we cant deny this is a very weak line up, just hope we dont lose because i cant see us winning, a draw maybe could be reached, although anything can happen hoping for a good performance despite playing with second best's, kenny must give some more minutes to raheem, about 20-25 i say, not just 5 or 10
ReplyDeleteWho's the wing starlet? Downing?
ReplyDeleteVery rarely will you see a side that contains absolutely no dribblers/flair players. Congratulations Kenny on giving me another boring (win or lose) afternoon.
ReplyDeleteRaheem is the only thing that will get me through tonights match.
You'd expect Skrtel to come off at some point for carragher and hope kenny makes use of sterling.....amazing talent and showed some real promise against Wigan. Not sure why he has not featured since as we have been crying out for a skillful winger since the days of mcmanaman and Riera.
ReplyDeleteWorrying fact, sterling showed more ability on the wing for those 7-8mins and then downing has done all season.
Anyway, hope sterling gets a chance tonight and books himself a place on the bench for the cup final....
Downing is on bench ..Feel sorry for chelsea because k is going to unleash Downing on them..
ReplyDeleteAt the same time they are lucky that Adam is injured otherwise DOUBLE TROUBLE.
What you trying to say that Spearing cannot dribble or doesn't have flair
ReplyDeleteUnleash? lol
ReplyDeleteFulham's Alex Kacaniklic looks decent...hold on that name rings a bell!.........Oh thats right we swapped him and Dalle Valle for Konchesky.
ReplyDeleteThe joke is on you Fulham...........
Bingo!
ReplyDeleteKuyt hits a volley wide and the commentator says enthusiastically
ReplyDelete"That's what he's capable off"
You're telling me................he's been hitting em wide all for 6 long painful years.
Think this will be Maxi's last game and reckon Kuyt will also be on his merry way.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we get better quality players out wide cause both these players have absolutely no level of creativity.
pretty woeful stuff,we are not good.
ReplyDeleteWho is the captain tonight?
ReplyDeleteSkrtel
ReplyDeleteyeah like downer and henderson
ReplyDeleteI've had enough. Even IF we win the Fa cup, and that is a big IF, Dalglish has to go. Win or lose, we have not been good enough. Bar the game against Norwich, when was the last time we won convincingly? Apart from Suarez and Enrique, Dalglish's signings have been woeful. Downing is a winger and cannot dribble, Henderson has a mental block of getting into the box, Adam takes too much time on the ball and is a liability defensively and Carroll is simply not good enough, in any way shape or form, to deserve the red shirt.
ReplyDeleteJaimie, what's your view on Dalglish's stance? should he go or stay?
Agree. Dalglish has to go at the end of the season, hopefully of his own accord. LFC will go nowhere with him in charge.

Who would be, realistically, your first choice to take over?
ReplyDeleteYes, the jury is still out on Hendo and Downing as they have not even completed a full season yet and will have another season to prove themselves but unfortunately Maxi and Kuyt are way passed their sell by dates.
ReplyDeleteDembelle is running the show.......good little player.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that Carrager is rested for the FA Cup final. If yes than god help us. Lfc is very sentimental and the sooner that stops the better. In any business he would have lost his job long time ago for wasting all that money but not at Lfc cos he deserves to stay there and waste more money in the years to come. For Lfc to move forward KD has to b moved on. New mngr is needed for next season or it will b another season like this one.
ReplyDelete...taste the rainbow...
ReplyDeleteWhy throw Downing on instead of Sterling?! Downing has done nothing yet again in this game!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more. Nothing fills me with more fear than imagining Didier Drogba or Torres bearing down on JC as he backs off to his own 6 yard box.
ReplyDeleteok it's about 75mins in. It's time for us to hit the post......
ReplyDeleteI think the jury have already returned their verdict.
ReplyDeleteguilty on all counts. sentenced to a four year contract at either Stoke or Villa.
Yeah just like Lucas who was rubbish when he started his carreer at Anfield and now after many years is the best DM in the EPL.
ReplyDeleteSome players need more than one season.
Sterling has provided more dangerous crosses in this game than Downing has done all season.
ReplyDeletefed up, fed up, fed up............fed up.
ReplyDeleteWell... the players have given Kenny a selection headache for Saturday.
ReplyDeleteSame sort of play as the main 11 under the King all huff no end product and always looking likely to conceed,oh well didnt expect anything else same as wigan, west brom, but hey its the king and that makes it ok.Dalgish da da da da da da da da da Dalglish.
ReplyDeleteKenny, please resign at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteI had too much fun tonight ive got to thank kenny, that was the best football comedy ive ever seen, likes of coates SHELVEY kuyt are just magic, shelvey that guy is better than messi I swear he is, please watch him closely hes fantastic i love him, kuyt also hes a king , coates skrtel brilliant defenders , downing legend carroll boss, hendo hahaahhaha damn man this was a hilarious night had so much laugh
ReplyDeleteLucas was a much more promising player and he came from a different league, those guys were in premiership from the beginning and they are average, mediocre and well not very promising
ReplyDeleteSpeechless again .. but nothing new .. been speechless most of the season!
ReplyDeleteAnd still kenny persists with downing, who keeps on drifting in from the wing so he can HIDE behind other players, even david fairclough made that comment live on TV. But hey we cannot judge kenny. Even McAteer who has backed kenny all season, said he was surprised not to see sterling start.
ReplyDeleteThe team looked as those they have just met on lastminute.com
Dont they train with each other everyday. seemed like strangers to one another. I'm not disappointed with the result because it was a type of game where we would expect at best a draw.
maybe that would make him realize, it's time to retire, hopefully
ReplyDeletehttp://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/7850531/espn-magazine-sportingintelligence-global-salary-survey-espn-magazine
ReplyDeleteJust look at how high we are up the table, compared to say Newcastle.
The standard of football tonite was a bit like watching a sunday pub team, obviously barring sterling and doni who were the only positive. At least this means spearing will not be starting on Saturday....phew!!
ReplyDeleteEver heard of sarcasm ;)
ReplyDeleteI watched Lucas when he was playing off the striker for Gremio. I thought it was unfair that Rafa would ask him to play DM in the first place. For me Lucas was never in doubt.
ReplyDeleteI have never in my life rated Downing. When he was at Boro he was poor. When Mclaren gave him a starting berth for England on the left as 1st choice...he was soon dropped for being poor. Downing has had 1 decent season playing for villa on the right of three forwards, Kenny wants to play him left of 4...NEVER GOING TO WORK, history proves this.
Henderson looks like a lad lost in IKEA. ""Can the parents Of a Jordan Henderson please pick him up from the checkout...Again thats Jor-dan Hen-der-son"
If they make it I'll send you a cheque.
no tactics no clue no formation i could go on but i cant be bothered anymore
ReplyDeleteSo fed up of this. This has got to be the worst Liverpool team I can remember. Sorry Kenny but it's just not working. Please FSG go out and get us a top draw manager (not Rafa).
ReplyDeleteIf that's what it takes we should play him.
ReplyDeleteBest DM? Pfft. Definitely one of the good ones though.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, Hendo and especially Downing, are in different and arguably easier circumstances than Lucas found himself in. Different league, different country, the dominant looming shadow of a peak Gerrard, etc.
Oh? and there was me thinking Mali didn't use sarcasm lol. I'm new to the site.
ReplyDeleteBoiling with rage after that performance tbh, struggling to muster the strength to watch us play lately, fcuking woeful league form with a fcuking woeful at times manager and bunch of shit players....
ReplyDeleteI just cannot accept this, i know we have a final in the Fa Cup to play but FFS what is the point of this season??? Can someone please explain to me what the fcuk is going on at this Club? Since when did the league take second place to a domestic Cup???
We are going top get slaughtered in that final IMO, i think the game's up for Kenny, it has to be, im so angry with him and his fcuked up team line ups etc i just cannot accept this shit any longer, another season of this and we will be fighting relegation, i just don't see enough from the manager and players to think that we might be getting there, we're not, we're just shit and someone needs to fcuking sort this shower out once and for all.
No one at the Club seems to have a clue tbh, i despair at how utterly spineless we are, insular and paranoid of changing anything for fear of upsetting the fans....
Our league form is a joke, simple as that, the players have played their part in our downfall this season and so has Kenny, those fans who turned up should be refunded....
Very despondent after watching that, had enough of seeing the same old shit time and time again...manager after manager....season after season...when is it ever going to change? When are we going to start showing some consistency?
So gutted, i was really looking forward to the final but after watching that shower i am dreading it....
God help us!
((stands up and applauds))
ReplyDeleteIt is a worrying attitude/mentality that is being bred at this club. Simply turning up for cup games and than showing a 'can't be arsed' mentality with the league. Pathetic really. It is also worrying the difference between the effort and desire between the first XI and the rest of the squad in their performances. Modern football is about the squad, not just the first XI.
ReplyDeleteGetting fed up with this wishy washy mentality and effort we put in the league.
you said it
ReplyDeleteIm not ordinarily easily riled but that game took the piss, it was just an insult IMO to the fans....
ReplyDeleteJesus Christ if Roy Hodgson had been presiding over THAT....he would have been hung drawn and quatered..the argument that we are playing better under Daglish than Roy has seriously been undermined after that game...
Absolutely no handle on the game whatsoever, midfield with Sterling and Spearing etc was abysmal....Kuyt was his usual shit self....Maxi at least tried....Carroll lumbered....same old disjointed crap that we have been watching all season..............
Completely fucked off with it tbh, sick and tired of all the false dawns, and the turning a corner, getting there comments, we really are just so shit it beggars belief.
Guardiola! LFC is a good challenge for him considering where we are.
ReplyDeleteDon't refer to him as king...he ain't worthy to be queen never mind
ReplyDeleteWell put...
ReplyDeleteWhat are you on about!? As Dalglish says, we've played amazingly all season and almost winning two cups shows how much we've progressed, even with the worst form in years... Any players that come in will have to be amazing to replace the current players we've got. Henderson + Adam + Carroll + Downing = An amazing team.
ReplyDeleteThis season has been an unbelievable fail and even the die hard Dalglish fans are starting to agree that he should go... Thankfully :P
ReplyDeleteI don't think that is a headache- it is a tumour.
ReplyDeleteCCan't believe its 11:30 and dalglish still not sacked....what will it take....what have we done to deserve him
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone so worked up after the loss? Isn't it CLEAR this is a second-string team while the first team probables are rested for the Cup final? How often do you see Doni, Aurelio, Coates, Maxi, Sterling get a game - other than being a inconsequential match? What worries me, is that Carra is likely to start in place of Skrtel for the Cup final. Carra was outplayed and outmuscled (when he was younger) by Drogba in the past, Carra can't score, can't pass, we need to start Skrtel with Agger.
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone so worked up? Well maybe because of the disrespectful 'pre-season'-like mentality and attitude shown in the league games such as yesterday
ReplyDelete
