Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish laid into his players after tonight's Anfield defeat against Fulham, accusing them of having the wrong attitude and approach to the game.
Speaking to the Press after the game, a clearly disappointed Dalglish made it clear that he was not happy with the performance:
"I think their attitude and approach to the game is where it all went wrong.
"Maybe I'm culpable too for giving as many of them a game to put themselves in the frame for Saturday but, but the attitude and desire just wasn't there.
"One or two did well, but apart from that, it wasn't a good night for us, myself included. It's disappointing, but it's not going to affect the performance on Saturday"
It's all well and good criticising the players but the buck stops with Dalglish, and if the players' attitude and approach was wrong, then he needs to take the blame. After all, the manager is responsible for preparation, tactics, instilling belief, and motivation, and in all respects, he failed miserably tonight.
Prior to the game, Dalglish claimed that this game was a chance for fringe players to stake their claim for a place in the FA Cup squad, but it seemed to me like none of the players on the pitch really believed that. How else can the lack of urgency on the field be explained? Some observations from the game:
* No game plan whatsoever; It seemed like Dalglish just threw a group of players together and hoped for the best.
* Nine changes showed that Dalglish did not prioritise the game at all, and the momentum from the Norwich game has now been wasted.
* What was the point in bringing on Enrique for Aurelio? Liverpool were 1-0 down and a goal was needed, so Dalglish makes a like-for-like defensive change? It was change for change's sake, and served no tactical purpose. Why not make a positive change to try and win the game? We do still want to win games at Anfield, right?
* Dalglish brought Downing on at half-time, a player who has NO goals and NO assists in the league this season. Why not just bring on Sterling at half time; it's not as if he could do any worse, is it?
Liverpool have now failed to win 64% of league games this season, which is pathetic. Dalglish is not the answer, and he needs to step down in the summer.

At a loss to even begin to analyze that. Big changes needed at management level and the playing staff.
ReplyDeleteI actually felt sorry for kenny tonite, he's too trustworthy with some of our player who just dont wear their heart on their sleeves. I hope this means the likes of downing, spearing etc will not get a sniff on sat....THANKGOD!!!! Some of us fans knew for a very longtime that certain players are just not worthy of wearing the famous red jersey.
ReplyDeleteHowever I bet Downing will still start on sat

Wasn't kds fault he was missing Charlie Adam
ReplyDeletehis overpriced flops never seem to be spoken out against by dalglish despite several crap performances but once the fringe players play crap he slates them. dalglish has to stop giving his overpriced flops special treatment
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Spearing should be nowhere near a liverpool starting 11. Such a limited player. Henderson for 16M. what has he shown? Downing? 20M. Cowardly again tonight. The manager takes responsibility. His signings, tactics, subs, motivational speeches pre match and at half time. The present management doesn't fill me with any confidence
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of toasers manager included! Every team, actually, any team can grab a result at Anfield. First win for Wigan at Anfield in 50+ years, same for West Brom and now Fulham. No clue, no backbone, no heart, no desire. I hope half the squad is gone in summer AND YES, i really hope Dalglish has just the remaining three games and gets given his P45. He must be by now the worst of the worst LFC managers ever. Only toasers are still singing his name.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how disappointed KD might be, it is not one tenth as much as the fans. This season has been an utter and total disaster. So many mediocre players, so many who just don't give a toss. The fans must take a lot of the blame for tolerating the rubbish they've been offered all season, in particular from the simply dreaful Henderson ( who is sure to start at vWembley ! ) Words fail me - the team is a total disgrace.

If Benitez was at the helm, players would be playing for their lives instead of acting all cosy.
ReplyDeleteShameful. Disgraceful. Inept. Spineless. But enough about Hederson's season, let's admit the rest are rubbish too. We need a new team - no, not a bit of fine tuning, a new team. The one we've got is utter rubbish.
ReplyDeleteNo nonsense about one or two quality players - we have one decent player and need at least ten more. And, of course, we need a new manager.
Wasn't there so can't comment on tonight.
ReplyDeleteWhat I will say is; things are clearly not working and the cups are papering over the cracks...as much fun as it is.
Potentially the worst league campaign since early 1950's speaks volumes...potential will be reality if we don't win both remaining league games.
How much further can we actually fall?
SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE, AND QUICKLY!

Please I plead bring Rafa back..please...I'm tired of Kenny already. Kenny is a legend but i guess he is going to ruin his own status soon with these lame excuses. I know I'm not a great tactician in football to comment about Kenny, but it is very straight forward Rafa brought results with limited resources he had except his final year with LFC.
ReplyDeletePlease give him another chance. I just feel it's pointless to blame our players (downing, henderson, carrol) when it was Kenny who purchase them. He should have known better.
Worrying, really worrying the type of mentality and attitude that is being bred at this club. Basically, give it our all in the cups and not bothering the league, just because CL place is out of reach (It was kinda the same in Rafa's reign, for most seasons, i.e., give up on the league by Xmas and go for it in CL (hence the massive points difference between us and the league winners in the seasons we reached CL finals). That is sad to see. Also what is worrying is the major difference in terms of effort and desire between the first XI and the rest. Far too big a difference. Modern day football is about the squad, not just the first XI. I really hope it isn't the same next season but if it is, expect more 'cups' v 'league' justification, instead of genuinely and realistically juggling both like a top club should do.
ReplyDeleteAt least with Benitez (like him or not) there was electricity in the air. With KK it is the Era of Boredom with no end in sight.
ReplyDeleteThe KK LFC is a walking zombie.
Bring back Rafa
I have no doubt whatsoever that KD loves Lfc and the man will ALWAYS be a legend at anfield! Which is why I think he will do the honourable thing after saturday's cup final! And he can still do it with his head held high for leading us to two cup finals!
ReplyDeleteDisappointing match ? How about disappointing season !!
ReplyDeleteI've seen many worst matches this season so why is the sudden over reaction from Dalglish ?!
Its just a song and dance to field his expensive flops in the final against Chelsea .
And yet its comolli who gets the sack, dont figure!
ReplyDeleteI just hope we can win the FA cup on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteBEFORE: Alonso, Sissoko, Mascherano, Gerrard and Rafa. NOW: Adam, Spearing, Shelvey, Henderson and Dalglish. Case closed.

Daglish must go. He couldn't win on FIFA manager if he tried!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe game is not that important, who cares if finish we finish the league 6th or 17th?? why think too much about the negatives, Kenny has a better image of his current reserves!
ReplyDeletePoor, poor, poor, Liverpool. What a bunch of toasers, Kenny Dalglish knows absolutely nothing, crap performances, crap players, nothing but crap, crap, and crap.
ReplyDeleteReminder: Any posts that personally insult the manager/players will be deleted.
ReplyDeleteYou lot are the thickest bunch of so called supporters ever gathered in one place. None of you know the first thing about football and seem to use this site as a way of provong it.
ReplyDeleteOf course he was going to rest players, just like Chelsea will do tomorrow. Liverpool B team isn't good, Carroll, I can't stand even looking at him, always blaming everyone else. Henderson is a train wreck every time he plays..
ReplyDeleteSomeone like Dogleash and his squad!
ReplyDeletecouldn't agree more, he can move upstairs and be a great ambassador for the club. i feel the club need someone with a strong vision. who this is is another question. unfortunately we are not the powerhouse we once were.i also feel a lot of investment is needed in the summer as i cant see a massive resale value of the players we have.
ReplyDeleteAnd you don't know anything about anything. What makes you think you know anything about football?
ReplyDeleteRafa bought Shelvey, Gerrard and Spearing was already there.. Sissoko was a waster...
ReplyDeleteIm not being funny but is something wrong with Kenny Dlaglish?
ReplyDeleteHow can he slate the players when it was clear who he intends to play for the final already.....?
Talk about DEMOTIVATING the squad.....Carroll gets a nice winner in the semi and looks more confident only to be thrown into the "seconds" team and left with feck all service again....
Jeez, our problems are self evident...where the fcuk is the common sense? Why do i feel like i could do a better job of managing LFC than Kenny....?
FFS Kenny IF certain players are letting you down consistently....then WHY the fcuk keep playing them??? Jesus H Christ, Shankly would have busted a few skulls and thrown 1 or 2 star players in the reserves IF they had tried pulling one on him.....but what does Kenny do? He keeps playing them......? Baffling, esp considering it will be his head not theirs that rolls first....
Urrghh, i don't know who im more angry with atm...the players for letting us down relentlessly....or Kenny for not being able to get a handle on the situation and simply benching said players........
Never been so angry before, can't recall a season this bad in the league, win or lose the Fa Cup we have MASSIVE problems at the Club, the damage that has been done to our profile is considerable.....we are so far off the top4 it is a joke, all the bad press this season re Suarez etc is for sure going to be costly also...
1 carling Cup won against a championship side in the final in what was a poor display does NOT fill me with any confidence at all.....Chelsea must be licking their lips in anticipation....
An absolute disgrace as per usual, Dalglish needs to be sacked immediately, or at the latest after CSKA Londonistan thrash us on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteKenny is the one who needs a boot up his arse.
ReplyDeleteSadly KK is damaging his legendary status with LFC. Worse still KK is damaging KK's legendary status with the rest of football. The FA Cup final presents a very interesting point in our current histrory. Win it and KK has won 2 cups in a season and would, seemingly, be hard to sack. OR another outcome win it and KK can step down an loving and eternally grateful KOP remembering him as a great.
ReplyDeleteLose it, well that cannot be anything but a disaster unless we are judged unlucky or beaten by a poor decision. The disaster being that when the excitement of the cup dies down and in this scenario we lose the FA cup final, the focus falls back on our totally unacceptable league position.
So how did we get in this position? The overall consensus seems to be poor transfers. So who is to blame for that? Certainly Comoli had a huge role in our recent transfer policy BUT our club allowed him to fail. We adopted a continental management structure whereby the manager says I need a striker but doesnt get to choose him initially, the Director of Football does all the searching and presents the players purchase as a fait accompli to the manager. At first that would seem to exonerate KK but it actually makes him look like a weak manager and a poor coach.
It is with regret that I say KK has to go, I would rather it be on his own terms and with the FA Cup in the cupboard, but go he must
Kenny was given two objectives:
ReplyDelete1) To help stabilise the club.
2) To build for the future.
He's achieved objective #1 to a point. Things could have been a lot worse had FSG appointed an outsider. So let's not forget that. At least now we have a trophy in the cabinet, another final to look forward to and, more importantly, FSG have had time to restructure other areas of the club in order to build the club with the knowledge the team was in the hands of someone that cared.
Rightly or wrongly that is how it is. My view is that it was the right thing to do.
It could be argued that he has achieved #2 - We have a young squad (in the main) that "should" improve - but let's face it our league position cannot get any worse...can it?
We never expected CL qualification, did we?
And it's obvious that the eggs went in the Cup basket at some point, consciously or sub-consciously, with a view to breeding an element of success whilst affording a young (in the main) and inexperienced squad time to gel....Rome wasn't built in a day.
So there is room for major improvement and I'm inclined to think that with the right additions to the squad in th summer, and the right players leaving, this can be achieved.
That said, it may be that Kenny has taken us as far as he can....I hope not.
At the end of the season he will undoubtedly reflect and ask himself the question if "he" can achieve what is required, can he carry Liverpool Football Club back to it's rightlful place.
If his anwer is yes and he carries on, then he will have my full backing.
If he answers that question with no, then I sincerely hope his dignity is maintained and he steps down with his reputation amongst Liverpool fans relatively intact in terms of football management.
As a player...well, the greatest ever.
But as a person, his dignity and his passion for Liverpool Football Club, for the supporters of Liverpool Football Club and for the people of Liverpool in general cannot ever, ever be in question or sullied.
There are too many people on here far too eager to disrespect him, which, quite frankly is APPAULING....you are a disgrace to the club...go and have a long hard word with yourself.
In Kenny We Trust...!!!!
You can trust him as much as you want......i want him booted out head first....before it too late.....we are like the titanic sinking but you are like the band who thought it wasn't sinking....what was the result
ReplyDeleteIt was the same under Rafa....whenever changes were made "en-mass" the performances were dire....
ReplyDeleteDalglish has tried his best and it hasnt worked ok, no need for all the slagging off, saturday is a make or break for kenny and LFC.... Also Rafa nice guy and all that he is not the answer two holding midfielders negative tactics putting kuyt right wing. We need a fresh face with new ideas prob need to go to europe as nothing in this country maybe Dortmund manager... YNWA
ReplyDeleteStability is all about the team showing a certain level of consistency....frustratingly that has failed to materialise in the league and any other manager would be facing the firing squad for that alone.....unless we are now on the same level of expectations as Stoke or Everton etc these days....?
ReplyDeleteAll we need now is for Roy Hodgson to have a great Euro competition in the summer and the humiliation will be complete.....
My point is he deserves dignity afte everything he has given us....clearly you are either too young to remember, or you forget very easily.
ReplyDeleteThe man has LFC coursing through his veins, and if he has doubts he will step down.
We are actually not far away from where we need to be...a finisher, Lucas back in the middle of the park (read Opta.index for reasons why) and two decent wingers.
The man deserves respect... #justsayin
Stability of "THE CLUB" was needed from the ground up....for the club to succeed on the pitch it needed transforming off it.
ReplyDeleteEvidence of progression off the pitch is evident.
Progression on the pitch takes time....i'd rather not mention that "Bacon Face" had 7 years but clearly that is the best example to use.
Sometimes, as in business and other walks of life, you have to go backwards to go forwards.
Time and effort was the only solution, not a silver bullet.
Action is required..I'm not blind or daft enough to think otherwise.
But if Kenny thinks he is close to success, then he deserves the chance to prove his doubters wrong.
Let's not act like fans of other clubs, let's pull together as we have done before in the face of adversity, and succeed as one.
NOBODY deserves it more than Kenny. But let him be the judge, as he is the person most qualified to do so.
Roberto Martinez is as good as anybody.........if not Kenny then Martinez ges my vote. (Think about his qualities before dismissing him)
ReplyDeleteThe only manager who can get the best out of this group of players is BIG SAM.
ReplyDeleteThis strategy would involve selling your footballing soul to the devil and then agreeing to bypass the worst Liverpool midfield I have EVER seen time an time again with long balls onto Carroll's nut.
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire... Sam Allardyce.
Sad but true
ReplyDelete'the best example' is from the 1980s.
ReplyDeleteWas there , it was shite
ReplyDeleterespect
ReplyDeleteA lot of fans were saying things about Carra not too dissimilar to what you are now saying about Dalgish. Words like "deserves" or "let him decide" or "he's a legend". That all stopped however when Carra got dropped and fans suddenly realised he was the problem all along.
ReplyDeleteKenny has screwed up big time. Terrible signings, terrible back room staff (that got West Ham relegated like an Elephant in quicksand), terrible tactics and terrible public relations. This season Kenny has got every aspect of managing LFC WRONG. What is ironic is now some expect HIM to make the RIGHT decision with regards to the future of our club and whether HE believes he is the man to take us forward.
When a man has proved he is so adept at getting things wrong why do you hover in hope waiting for him to do something he has shown he is not accustomed to?
Some coffee surely needs to be sniffed.........
We are the resistance.................
To all the proper Lfc fans enjoy it. I'm talking about the ones they keep telling us "not the proper fans" to go and support Chelsea or MC. The ones they keep saying that KD did so much for this club. While we appreciate everything that KD did for Lfc, he should do one more thing LEAVE at the end of the season. Im trying to forget this season already but I'm worried that the next season will b the same. God and FSG help us.
ReplyDeleteThe "best example" was given TIME to succeed and look what happened.
ReplyDeleteWe're not in a position to throw Arab or Russian Millions at it and hope for istant success....and neither is football anymore with FFP Rules coming in.
So we're back to the 80's mentality of running a football club properly. That is what FSG are doing.
So, back to Kenny knowing how close he is...and letting him make the decision.
Whatever that decision is, in the interest of LFC we should all support it...after all, KENNY IS ONE OF US.
Our history is haunting us. It's teasing us to crave for instant success.
ReplyDeleteKenny has made mistakes, he did so to keep the team together as one, in the best interest of the team, the club and us, the supporters.
He was blind to what Suarez really said, and the intent in which he said it. Kenny was lied to, we were lied to. In my opinion he acted as a fan would have acted and not as a politician....we're all guilty of blind faith toward our club at some point.
Had Suarez been honest from the outset the situation would, I'm sure, have been handled differently.
I agree this season has been a disaster, but my point is Kenny has LFC in his blood and knows what he has left to give....and if it is eough or not.
Evidence of progression OFF the pitch???
ReplyDeleteWhat you mean like how well THE CLUB handled the Suarez/Evra affair...???
Looked like a Club totally bereft of leadership tbh......something more akin to a shambles IMO, cringeworthy episode....
You say lets not act like fans of other clubs but what does that mean???
We've already shown ourselves to be just like fans of "other" clubs by the way we treated Roy Hodgson.....but now because its Dalglish we should all pull together???
Complete double standards IMO, one rule for 1 manager another rule for another.....
As i said, we lack consistency ON and OFF the pitch, so don't go telling me about some kind of progression and false sense of stability, we WON'T be a stable Club until the results and peformances change for the better.
Here cometh an awkward moment when I have to agree with Jaimie Kanwar on all points he made in this article.
ReplyDeleteStability of the club -
ReplyDeleteNot draining every penny to pay off leveraged debt.
The largest shirt sponsorship in Football & other commercial activity achieved & ongoing.
Managing the club finances prudently - according FFP Rules IN ADVANCE of them coming into force.
All of the above have allowed Kenny to spend - Rafa was having to sell to buy so IMO that is stability & progression, therefore, I sold them short initially.
Stability of the team (post Hodgson) -
Dalglish has took us from 16th & no chance of Europa never mind CL > Carling Cup Winners & FA Cup Finalists in his first full season.
SUCCESS BREEDS SUCCESS. WINNING IS WINNING.
Priorities will change next year and expectation will be CL qualification. Kenny isn't stupid, he knows what our expectations are and he knows how to achieve it. He has clearly prioritised these last few months and it sure as hell hasn't been the league over cup success that's for sure.
Proof we can succeed has come from the CC and (hopefully) the FA Cup success on Saturday....it's a platform to build upon...something we didn't have 18 months ago.
If your expectation was all of the above AND qualify for CL in his first full season then you are deluded.
Yes it's been horrendous at times...but it's a far cry from how bad it WOULD HAVE BEEN under Woy.
Mistakes have been made along the way, but nobody is perfect.
So I say thank heavens for small mercies.
And for the record, my expectation will change for next season...I WILL expect CL qualification, and if that doesn't materialise then that will be the time to seek a change...but only then and not now unless he steps down of his own accord.
See my reply to theycallmemrburt for my comments on the suarez/evra situation...
ReplyDeleteSuarez to blame not Kenny. "I didn't say anything racist" turned into "I said something acceptable back home (negrito etc etc)" when questioned by the panel handling the sorry affair....had he told Kenny/Club that from the outset it would have been handled differently......I'll forgive him, after all he's Luis Suarez and in the same breath i won't hold Kenny responsible.
As for the rest - my reply is being held by the moderator but will be released shortly.
YNWA!!!
Just because one example worked great from the 1980s, doesn't mean this second reign of KK will.
ReplyDeleteDifferent circumstances. Odd just pulling examples out of the air and assuming it makes the present all right.
Two decades of no league titles. Yep, we are used to league titles every season in the last 5/10 years(!)
ReplyDeleteI don't crave success, I crave entertainment. I long for the day when Liverpool change their transfer policy of buying 'standard' players like Downing, Barmby and Henderson and take a calculated risk on players like Ronaldo, Nani and Valencia. We have for too long been a defensive side relying on clean sheets to win us matches when what we needed was an offensive side that was able to open up teams who come to Anfield and defend for their lives.
ReplyDeleteAgain I am after a complete change of footballing philosophy at LFC. If the correct offensive players are brought in the trophy aspect will take care of itself.
Kenny has shown with his refusal to buy flair and the way in which he Shipped Ginola out for the late Gary Speed and Asprilla for Andreas Anderson and Stephane Guivarch whilst at Newcastle that his philosophy has become more rigid. The days of Signing players like Barnes, Beardsley and Rush are long in the past.
The king is past it, long live the king.
I am so incredibly sure that Dalglish will sell Downing this summer.
ReplyDelete" maybe I'm culpable too " no don't be hard on yourself Kenny your only the MANAGER . Disrespectful is what it is to the people who paid good money to get there and get in last night , as for saying giving everyone a chance to make a claim for sat , more like right get out there lads you haven't got a hope of playing on sat , oh except for you Jordan and Stewart , and if you can't see that Kenny well . I mean Aurelio for Gods sake man , and what was the idea of putting the kid on for 15 minutes ? 15 minutes were he showed more heart , fight , willingness etc than Downing's shown all season actually , but 15 minutes ? Not having a go at Aurelio's ability by the way , but we all know he's done at Anfield , so why play him , sentiment ? No effing room for it as I said DISRESPECTFUL to the paying public .
ReplyDeleteDisgusting tactics and performance too many players were invisible or just not good enough to play for the club. The only bright sparks for me was Andy Carroll ,good to see Aurelio play after ages yet still whip those crosses for Carroll i still wonder why KD would not play him as a winger instead of downing
ReplyDeleteIf he still be in the summer
ReplyDeletekenny should get his intelligence checked, and then be forced to resign, the fa cup final hopefully will be a nail to his coffin
ReplyDeleteI can't believe why there are still some fans out there who believe we are playing exciting, flowing attacking football. So far, we have only 43 league goals, even the so called Rafa's 'negative football' had score 77 goals. At least we have a game plan, knowing what to do on the pitch. Too many times in this season we're like headless chicken running over the place just like what Agger said.
ReplyDeleteRaul Meireles, Maxi Rodriguez and Dirk Kuyt contributed 28 league goals last season. Nearly 70% of the league goals we scored this season. But look at them now, Raul sold. Rodriguez and Kuyt often got ditched away from starting line up because of Kenny's beloved signings. Rodriguez scored two hat trick in two weeks last season, Kuyt's goals are at least double digit every season until this season, which is only 5 goals but still 5 times better Henderson considering the playing time.
sorry mate he said he wanted to win the league, he said that to Tom Werner. Comparing that to rafa's guarantee of getting 4th place, rafa at least tried, kenny fell short on the first hurdle, right now I seriously think Kenny needs a effing reality check.
ReplyDeleteRoy deserved every kick in his ass he received from the fans, if he stayed the disaster would be even bigger, kenny came under cover of the messiah but turned into a club damaging incompetent manager that lives in his past, absolutely the treatment should be similar, he failed there should be no sentiment
ReplyDeleteAgree with that, Original. We've been in FA Cup Finals before and never rested the WHOLE side. I, along with a lot of others, felt short-changed last night. When you fork out for your season ticket the least you should expect is desire and effort in EVERY game, then to be entertained in the majority of games (which, in fairness, I believe we have been), and lastly you hope that you can win most of them.
ReplyDeleteLast night people turned up to watch the reserves, which is an insult. Imagine if your are an impressionable youngster and that was your first game with your dad? It would put you off ever going again. You'd probably even shun football altogether, and join a gang.........
I think Kenny wanted a reaction from the players. He hung the carrot of a Cup Final place and NONE of them rose to the challenge. That speaks volumes for the current squad at LFC. Most of the team last night are clearly not up to it (Spearing) or coasting to see out their contracts (Kuyt). Kelly looked promising last season, but since that miss against Arsenal his head has gone.
Blame the players, because they knew the manager couldn't sub 10 of them.
Shameful and spineless.
That performance was nothing short of dire. It's OK everyone saying they were fringe players but Andy Carroll cost £35 million. Also, he brought on Downing to change the game. Downing?!?! He's never. ever been good enough. We should have seen the fact that no other 'big' club has gone anywhere near him in his whole career.
ReplyDeleteI admire Dalglish for coming out and holding his hands up, saying the attitude was wrong, but it's his job to motivate them. It's his job to direct them tactically. It's his job to pick 11 players who can play together and look something like a team.
He's bought badly, his tactics are outdated and his motivational skills are no existent.
I know people talk about stabilising the club and all that and the sponsorship deal. But come on, who really thinks Dalglish had anything to do with securing that deal. You have chief execs and finance directors who do that. Dalglish had nothing to do with it.
Time for change I'm afraid.
I disagree ... JK made an astute point -- No game plan whatsoever; It seems like Daglish just threw a bunch of players together and hoped for the best -- spot on.
ReplyDeleteIf the same set of players were what was available to Martin O'Neill or Rafa, there would be a gameplan, organisation, playing to the strengths of the players, everyone in the squad knowing what their jobs were -- basically, Martin or Rafa can motivate and over-achieve with "average" players, KK seems not to be able to. I really do not blame the players here.
Sterling caused more trouble to defenders in the two substitute appearances than Downing has done this season. I really hope the kid is still around when we have a new manager, who, hopefully, gives him much more playing time.
ReplyDeleteI realised that Dalglish was going to rest several of the first team players before Saturday's game but I didn't realise that the second string were going to be rested as well ! What a disgraceful performance. No passion, no desire, no effort, no idea. The one thing confirmed by that that game was that we have absolutely no depth of cover for the first eleven. A sad fact of life though, is that if we sold Adams, Henderson and Downing we wouldn't even raise £10 million for the three of them. What an absolute waste of money. Whatever the result on Saturday, at the end of the season, I hope that Dalglish will do the decent thing and walk !,
ReplyDeletekenny must jus go. for 35mills i bet we could have bought a well proven striker for 20mills we could hv bought a world class player, pple say saurez is racist hw abt kenny policy of buying most british players wat is that, the best playerz he bought are not even brittz
ReplyDeleteI think its convenient for Kenny to be saying he was dangling the carrot of an FA final appearance when reality says otherwise. This is a man who got visibly angry when asked about Sterling's chances of first team action after he had impressed in his cameo. Would Sterling for example really think he was being given a chance or just making the numbers to discarded the very next game.
ReplyDeleteWould Shelvey who has had better games than Henderson every time they play together feel confident when he was shifted to Blackpool while a more expensive but less effective player of a similar age gets more games despite his obvious failingsAll season players he has bought have under-performed and he has hardly given anyone else a chance in their place. For example Downing and Henderson have underwhelmed and only got one goal between them in the league in over 30 games apiece they have featured in but the most subbed player in the premier league is Maxi who actually scores. What seems to be happening is players have stopped responding to the manager and usually when the rot starts it spreads rather than get turned around. There is plenty of frustrated players out on the pitch most of the time if you watch body language of Reina and Suarez for example.I also don't get how Carra is suddenly first choice and almost guaranteed to start against Chelsea which will be good news for either Torres or Drogba.Carra has zero speed and his last ditch tackling heroics have left him but he still retains his beloved hoofs that takes out his team mates and gifts possession to opposition.
legend or not he cant keep playing his expensive flops in the hope they'll come good - or is it just so he can say to FSG that they are essential 1st team players , henderson and downing should be no where the 1st team on saturday but ive got a bad feeling they'll both play - we needed a head of steam up for the final and instead we got served up the worst performance since blackpool and wolves games under roy hodgson .
ReplyDeleteit beggars belief.
Kennys already stated categorically on the day commoli was sacked that he himself ( kenny) chose all the players who came in - damien handled negotiations and finance once kenny identified who he wanted.
ReplyDeleteFuck off Jamie!
ReplyDeletebefore you hurl the 'too young to remember ' line at me ive been a fan longer than most here have been alive - thats that out of the way . kenny looks lost - theres no clear message , no vision for the future - I idolise the man but for a few months now he has looked totally lost and bewildered , No manager would have been given the love and respect kenny has had - but even the most die hard apologist must know that he's looked way out of his depth for some time now.
ReplyDeleteDo I want him sacked - No way , I would love him to retire in a few weeks time with his head held high - believe me , he needs that more than LFC at the minute.
Progression on the pitch doesn't occur from stability alone it occurs by having the right man in charge! Case in point: AVB -> RDM, Mark Hughes -> Mancini
ReplyDeleteKenny doesn't deserve anything after this season but the ability to slip away quietly with his reputation still in tact. If you cared about him at all you wouldn't let it get any worse.
Yeah let's boot a man that gave his blood, sweat and tears and some of the greatest moments in our history for Liverpool up the arse, great idea.
