VIDEO: Raheem Sterling's excellent debut for Liverpool FC...

Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling made his debut for Liverpool FC today, and in the sixteen minutes he had on the field, the left-winger showed why the club's fans have been calling for him to be given a chance.

After the game, Kenny Dalglish admitted that he was 'forced' into including Sterling on the bench, and suggested that that throwing him into the game was not 'the best way to manage' the youngster.

Liverpool fans won't be complaining though; it was just refreshing to see something different for a change.

What do you think?

Playing Henderson on the wing when you have a player with such pace waiting for opportunity..

  2. Yes, it's ridiculously frustrating

  3. Another attention seeking headline from you jamie.

why are you such an attention seeker? did you not get any as a child

  4. i,ll rather play him than henderson cos he can add more option to the team like he just proved with his cameo

  5. Thanks for the video Jamie. I didnt want to watch the game because i was certain we would loose.

I hope Liverpool try to sign  Swansea player Gylfi Sigurdsson who is on loan from Hoffenheim. We need someone with firepower who can score outside the box. Young and full of potential:

  6. I thought the young man gave a good account of himself. He's got the pace we need, and some guile too. I have said this a million times: how does Henderson get into our first team sheet week in week out with a talent like this waiting to come on? When did Gerrard make his Liverpool debut? Owen? Redknapp? Jaimie, do you agree with all this "nappy rash" bull that KK is spilling? Our season has crumbled!!!

  7. I watched a load of U-18 games last season before I ditched cable TV, so I've seen Sterling play a lot. I knew he was fast, very fast but until you see him up against senior players you just can't judge how much pace this kid has and he was like a rocket in the second clip. From what I  have just watched I think that Kenny has found a part of the answer to what's been going wrong this season. Sterling is not going to go to Spurs, if he can get another cameo or a few starts then he'll feel like he belongs at Anfield. He HAS to play in the FA cup, if we get to the final then he at least has to make an appearance and, at 17 years of age, can you imagine what it would do to his already high level of confidence of he gets a winners medal? I was still at school at that age, ffs!
Adam Morgan next, then Suso, then Tony Silva, then Coady etc etc.
We could bleed these youngsters between now and the end of the seaon and save the club a fortune!

  8. Cant agree more.

  9. rafa signed him and would have given more chances to him and also suso by now. plus of course we would never have signed carroll, henderson, adam or downing so wouldnt have wasted so much money.

  10. Sterling is a player that beyond a doubt needs to be kept by Liverpool. With only 5 min on the pitch, he gave the left side of wigan a run for their money and made downining look like the reserve player. Rather than tell the boy to stop complaining and work for his spot KD, I think this performance (even as short as it was) proves his spot on the first team roster. Now to get the other youngsters incorporated and we'll have some progress. YNWA!!!

  11. He was the only good thing about today, should've given him more time maybe 30/ 35 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  12. He was smart when he had the ball. Good stuff, but he still 17. I think he needs to add some more muscle else hes going to get injured very easily because we all know how defenders love to give little kicks in the Premier league. But from what I have seen, he is better than Henderson just from 1 cameo!! This is what true potential is, and thank Rafa that he found him. He's going to get better and better. What did Comolli and Kenny see in Henderson in all the video footage? Sterling showed in youth he has a footballing brain, and he isn't short of any confidence too. What has Henderson got to show? A overpriced tag.

  13. Sterling did really well for the 11 minutes he played

Pace is the most important attribute in PL football and we have lacked it since Owen left

Hopefully Kenny meant that throwing him on in the 84th minute when losing was not the best way to manage Sterling. He seems ready

Skrtel has had a shocking week. He must be missing Agger big time

  14. Seeing the ball come over to the left with a sense of excitment when raheem was on. Reminded me of days watching john barnes...when u just had that feeling something special was playing on the left wing. i hope he continues to play and showed some of our senior players how to handle expectation and playing with belief and confidence in ur own ability. WELL DONE LAD!!!

  15. He displayed everything we need from him

    - almost ran onto a long ball in behind defence using his blinding pace
    - skinned 2 players when cutting in on his right to shoot
    - dug out a decent cross on his left when Suarez over hit a pass to him
    - caused panic in the defence and won a free in a dangerous position with a driving run

    He has to play

    ReplyDelete
  16. Kenny you need to go to Optical Express,Henderson brings us nothing. This boy Sterling brings us skill and speed n thats what we need.

    ReplyDelete
  17. He does need managing or we will end up like Owen injured with in 2 years then struggling with injuries for the rest of his career like Lennon does at Spurs.

    ReplyDelete
  18. lets just hope he doesnt want to leave. looks better than walcot when he was his age. to little to late from kenny. poor henderson back out there on the wing next game probably. totally clueless.
why is it almost every liverpool follower can see henderson offers nothing out wide?? laughable

  19. Season is over league wise. Lets play the youngsters. I want sterling to play a full game. He looked good. He Looked very Aaron Lennon like.

Fed up of defending the piss poor buys again this season. I can no longer stand by Andy Carroll. I also believe that the Henderson deal was very odd. Why would we pay so much for a player that had no other teams in for him. We could have had him for 8mill and I would have still passed.

Charlie Adam was cheap but has failed to deliver the qualities of delivery that he showed at Blackpool.

Downing I understand but still feel we got ripped off.

The Aquilani situation is beyond me. We give Andy Carroll time but he is out the door on loan.

I am beyond blaming the manager for these buys because it was happening with Rafa. Robbie Keane in and out. Crouch in and made small appearances. Joe cole on a free but never really played. Bellamy in then out then under Kenny in again. Not to mention a long list of whats and hows....

Our problem is simple we do not give the youth their chances.

Gerrard was the the hungriest player when he first appeared and Owen. Owen never did anything after Liverpool.

What makes it worse is people believe we have to spend to get top 4. Arsenal are a perfect example of good business and results. Yes they have not won anything in a while but they have a brand new stadium and long term stability with a manager that makes something from nothing.

We have spent the money on nobodies. Would be in a better situation if we played the youth all season at least they would be ready for next season. I feel sorry for our new owners. Bunch of flops every single one of them.

If people believe we are going to do anything with this current team as it stands I can assure you that bus will not arrive.

I recon we need to do work with Suarez. Its embarrasing watching him fall over and moaning. The reason our chance to goals ratio is so poor because he is excellent and creating chances but poor at converting them. Just clumpsy at times. Would take a Berbatov to convert his post hits.

  20. It's getting to the point that just the mere sight of Dalglish or the sound of his voice sickens me!... im starting to hate him with a passion...

    ReplyDelete
  21. You're a Liverpool fan and the sight of arguably the best player we've ever had sickens you.

    Amazed.

    ReplyDelete
  22. You all expect a 17 year old to play week in week out in the prem, a 10min sub off the bench is one thing but to put a young players career at risk so you can enjoy sitting in your armchairs, watching the team you claim to support. While slagging off one of the clubs greatest ever player and manager because you want instant success! what a bunch of tossers. Jaimie K you have to be the biggest tosser of them all, jump off a cliff.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i understand KK was forced to put sterling in, which is wrong.  its the managers decision who plays, but never the less, the young lad showed something different which was a plus...  In my opinion it should have put suso who deserved to get some game time...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Absolutely right bb. Things arent going well at the moment but Dalglish loves the club and would do anything for it. The players that he bought are letting him down big time at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  25. To be honest im glad that we lost today and carry on losing till KD gets sacked. There's no point winning 1 or 2 games and losing the rest, it will get you nowhere! Oh man where has our club got into? Where is the attractiveness and the excitement we used to get watching our beloved reds?! Please bring Rafa back NOW as he might not be available later on.

    ReplyDelete
  26. oh right like rooney?? ballsh#t

    ReplyDelete
  27. It was the right time for Rafa to leave and he did see with the utmost respect for the club and we give it him back, however, this idolising of Benitez when really he didnt win anything for the last 3 years is getting silly, idolise shankly and paisley, not bloody Benitez. Maybe KK isnt the man to bring us the title, but he is the man to win us trophies and work us through this transitional period.

  28.  gagnauga

I agree with you. After a few minutes you know in yr heart of hearts despite of YNWA cries, liverpool will suffer somehow when they dont put the goals in. True to form. I will now stop watching the games becos we hv given KD lots of time to get it right... Carroll sucks all over. SG didnt play his heart out too. Sigh... A season to forget. I will be happy if we finish 10th.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Rasheem made a good account but he lacks the big game. Slowly he will deliver. As for KD, his time is really truly up. I cant watch any more of such games.. dominating and losing is not the liverpool way. Manure - not dominating or dominating and winning, that has been the Manure's brand and it scares the hell out of every tea which meets them. As for liverpool, every team now knows they can win against liverpool, even at anfield... sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  30. skrtel is missing agger. I am sori to say this, Carragher has lost it. SG sees to have lost it too. YNWA.

    ReplyDelete
  31. yup, he is a small guy and will kicked around big time.. Let him in slowly into the big boys game. And add bulk. Give him what those guys gave messi

    ReplyDelete
  32. we loved KD and now we just want him to remain loved but not at the expense of our more beloved club which stinks at the moment...

    ReplyDelete
  33. yup, did you see how henderson got a lovely ball in the box and his first touch was to take the ball out of the box. If he had the gums tro just turn and shoot he would have scored. Such is his method, play safe ! Even if he is in a scoring position. This is the way liverpool has been playing, safe and cautious methods... come  to thin about it, only Suarez and SG are taking shots. Even SG is slowing down in this dept. His shots (so is Suarez's) are going nowhere... Sigh... how to win ????

    ReplyDelete
  34. For once this season I stopped watching after dominating and the opponents scored first... it always invariaby means that liverpool will lose heart and lose eventually....sigh. Such is the strength ...YNWA

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think he did ok, but he still has a long way to go and I don't want to see him ruined by expectations. A few promising performances and everyone will start to expect more, and then when his form dips the crowd will get after him. More games in the league, but i think he needs to stay on the bench for the cup games, even if the wembley pitch might suit him.

Had to go for a few drinks after that result today. Unfortunately, all too predictable. Now, we are told that the players were tired. How many of our clubs who are in Europe play 3 games in 7 days, without getting such poor results against a team who had only won 4 games all season?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, I agree, its going a bit far to say you can't stand Kenny, but, if he would do anything for the club, standing down should be in his thoughts at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  37. We just need to watch out that we don't overplay or exhaust him. Those niggling injuries you mentioned are more down to the bulking up process than simply playing football.

Sterling doesn't need to bulk up much, because his strenghts are his pace, velocity, balance and dribbling skills. It won't do him any good at all, imo.

It's a diffferent story for centre forwards, central midfielders or any kind of defenders, but pacy wingers / wide forwards simply don't need it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Who is saying that he should play week in week out ?? We just want to see if he is able to cut it in the league .... we still need to have a first teamer in front of him, but he could be the back up player and so saving us a shetload of money.

Why do we even have an academy if not for trying to get young players in the first team ??

    So stop lecturing us ....

    ReplyDelete
  39. What have we got to lose by playing the youngster? If nothing else he has incredible pace something the side has been sorely lacking. KD seems to placing all of his focus on the FA cup but without a Champions League slot it will be impossible to attract the kind of talent we need to challenge for the premier league title

    ReplyDelete
  40. Daglish is a Liverpool legend who will be there to collect 2 Cups this year - more than any other team. BUT.....his signings have not been the best & its true that definately need more quality - 2-3 more world class players to challenge for the premier league title.  Will this happen  - can only hope...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Now you're sounding like a liverpool fan.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It was a good decision to play him for the last 15 mins. He has confidence and skill but I still think he's still very young to be considered a regular.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks for the clip Jamie. I'm part of the give a new manager more than a a full season brigade. Id even go so far a three. The comment makers here wouldn't be into all that!! I don't think the 80's was a fluke, I think the manager still has the football brain to win titles. I really hope Kenny can fast track success because modern football won't give you much time. i will also take our managers word when he says the player inclusion was forced. I'm sure he will be a huge star but maybe its too early. I don't train the team so I can only go on the humble opinion of the most successful managers in our clubs history

    ReplyDelete
  44. There are no world class British players so no, it won't happen.

    ReplyDelete
  45. without doubt the best part of yesterdays game was seeing sterling come on. surely the best of our youth players, could give the under-performing dross kd has bought, a kick up the backside. They deserve a shot and can't be worse than the likes of downing, adam and henderson.
sterling and conner c would hold their own imo.
KD's only hope now is that the players turn it on for the FA cup, but my feeling is that, if we end up playing everton, its unlikely we'll win. the law of averages suggests we wont beat them 3 times in a season.
if we did reach the final, spurs have already proved they are far superior to us, so for me it has to be sunderland and chelsea for us to have a chance. honestly though, i just dont see us winning the FA cup.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Downing better watch his back and up his game, Sterling will take over his role after next season. Time to blood Suso and Coady next.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Rooney, Fabregas, Fowler and Owen all started playing regularly at 17. "If you're good enough, you're old enough." You're the tosser.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 2-3 "MORE" world class players? We don't have 1! Anybody that thinks otherwise is either deluded or looking through rose tinted spectacles. As a Liverpool fan myself, this is arguably one of the worst Liverpool teams I have ever witnessed! Time for Dalglish to leave if he really loves the club and take all the shite with him!!!! It's getting ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  49. haha well said lol

  50. If you are good enough, you are old enough...

    ReplyDelete
  51. i totally agree wit u sir.... just give KD time as he hv already give liverpool fans d first cup....and still to come....if not for the love of leiverpool i don't see that he'll comeback ever again...and i don't see any other man who can really give what KD hs given...dont ask KD to swollow a big chunk ...he'll be choked...just give him one at a time...he'll swollow it....he's the best man in the game for liverpool....

    ReplyDelete
  52. Red, there's an unwritten rule about washing your dirty laundry in public with LFC, that also applies to backing the club AND the manager - yes, I know RH didn't get ANY support but he had us in the relegation zone and how much of that was down to the pair of cowboys, nobody knows.
It's absolutely killing me seeing the club sitting in 7th place and losing to teams we should be brushing aside. I also remember the awesomeness of watching Kenny's teams of the past, both as player and manager. I would never disrespect Kenny, even if he lost us all 38 league games in a season. I'd put an arm around his shoulders and tell him that it was time to go and that he will always be remembered as one of the club's most iconic figures.
I hate all this internet bashing, trolling or whatever it's called. People seem to think that they can hide behind their keyboards and say what they like about anybody but, if faced with that person in the street, or wherever, they wouldn't say a thing.

The situation we are in just now is the old head & heart conundrum; we love Kenny Dalglish as we love Liverpool but we want to be winning more games, scoring more goals, pushing all the way for the league title and reveling at phenomenal footballing performances week in, week out. Unfortunately, none of this has happened this season and some fans are going ballistic and spewing bile towards the great man, which is something I hate seeing.

    ReplyDelete
  53. by the way...can anyone let me know how many times did Benitez won the PL for liverpool...if he really is that good.....

    ReplyDelete
  54. Don't forget Shelvey! He was pretty good too, made our midfield tidy! We never had that since Alonso left and Aquilani wasn't given enough game time.

    ReplyDelete
  55. He offers nothing anywhere - for me he's worse than Carroll (but only just)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Gareth Bale and Joe Hart are British. The likes of Joe Allen, Oxlade Chamberlain, Jonjo Shelvey, Tom Cleverley and Raheem Sterling have the potential to become world class too!(And if Gianluigi Buffoon is right, so does Carroll)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Our 2 biggest stars in the match were in their 30's... No.31 and No.33! No.38 had a good game too.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Sorry I meant there are no world class British players for KD to sign.

    ReplyDelete
  59. To be honest, Its the first time a stop watching liverpool's game half way this season. From the defensive starting line up at home, my interest in d game already decrease by half. Continuous suffering by looking at the aimless passing time to time, i start to wonder, is there any more bottom lying teams play worse than us. At least d so called bottom clubs dare to attack, even though not 100% convincing; liverpool team simply shows no interest in winning. Unless KK step down, I'm quite sure we r heading no way.

    ReplyDelete
  60. What a utter ****

    ReplyDelete
  61. Not as illustrious as them but there is also Milner

    ReplyDelete
  62. Chi Bai lu, he should have come off the bench earlier to replace Henderson. This bloke Henderson, who miskick the ball that gave away our first goal when it landed to Moses.

    ReplyDelete
  63. the problem kk has got is this: he spent lots of money on these players therefore he had to play them and hope that they will improve. there is a reason why most managers in the premier league didnt buy these players. why did alex ferguson buy ashley young instead of downing? remember they cost the same.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ha ha well said. Most of these don't remember the 80s or were supporting Leeds. The guy up in the comments who said he can't stand the sight of Kenny.....can he be prevented from supporting. I just don't want him being happy when we win. Id like him to support man united or someone with that kind of hate/love week in week out mentality 'they' show for their club. I know a united fan who actually reads this blog because its packed, like many blogs, with delusional fans who think...kenny is back we are going to win the league. People...wake up, we are on the level of spurs three years ago, but I know we have the right man....has a bit of cunning to him like no one since Fagan.

    ReplyDelete
  65. looked very good! cant wait to see more

    ReplyDelete
  66. I am never comfortable with Carragher in the team.  Why was Meireles sold? The kind of football Liverpool played in the five goal mauling of Birmingham was great to watch.....and this was without the Multi million signings we have now!!??
Henderson is not confident at all..... He seems afraid to do anything with the ball....

    ReplyDelete
  67. Going by what KK said after the game, doesn't look like the youngsters will get much of a run out in the remaining league games.
