Agent: £10m star may leave if a 'good offer' comes in. Should LFC bid again?

In 2007, former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez tried to sign holding midfielder Javi Garcia from Real Madrid's 'B' Team. The move fell through, but according to Garcia's Agent, the Spaniard may be available again soon. With Lucas Leiva out for the season, and quality cover for the Brazilian thin on the ground, perhaps Liverpool will be in for him again?

Liverpool's interest was confirmed by Garcia in 2007 when he told The Mirror:

"My colours are Real Madrid but if it's impossible to play there then England is a sensational country and Liverpool is a historic club."

Earlier this week, Garcia's Agent Manuel Garcia Quilon seemed to suggest that the £10m-rated midfielder would be available for a possible transfer at the end of the season. He told O JOGO.

"There are several clubs following him very carefully, especially Premier League clubs. Then there is also one Bundesliga and one Serie club.

"Nothing has been discussed with [Benfica] president Luis Filipe Vieira, but if a good offer for the club and Javi arrives at the end of the season, we will analyse it and then we will see".

  1. Not sure the Lucas Leiva point is valid since we won't be able to sign Garcia until the end of the season anyway but I would be happy to have more options in midfield next season.

  2. Have to agree with Alex-Star. I myself couldn't see the point about Lucas as he should be back by or before the end of the season.  But with the changes to the make up the squads we would need to offload some of our foreign players to bring in replacements from abroad.

  4. after the Man U game, it has become a NEED now to go out there and get quality back up in that dept. Gerrard could not trust Spearing/Henderson in that position for him to paly his attacking game. whoever we get must be class and will cost us.

  5. We need a good passing midfielder in alonso class, lucas back soon to,plus a good fox in the box striker,i still think kenny should have gone with bellamy up front to help louise, utd defence had to much time on ball,to play out from back, plus adam or shelvey, instead of spearing and hendo,as for carroll and downing, what can u say.

  6. If he's no better than Lucas what's the point ? Lucas played 12 league games before his injury I think we had 20 points after 24 games I think we had 39 points , and we'd knocked City and United out of cups , scored 5 goals against Oldham , he was in the side that conceded 4 at Spurs , what I'm saying is he himself is not good enough , we need players to improve us , and if this fella is no better than Lucas forget it .

  10. That's the same thing everybody said when I said we needed another holding midfielder in the summer. And now we're left depending on flipping Jay Spearing. Good times...
