If you believe the rampant transfer speculation, 90% of the world's players are moving to Liverpool in January. As usual, most premier league transfer rumours at this time of year are nonsense, and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has stated several times that the club is not planning to sign anyone. Hopefully, that will not turn out to be true, but here are nine transfer deals that definitely will not be happening.
These statements were all made in the last three weeks:
Eden Hazard (Lille)
Speaking on French Radio, Hazard's egent Marc Fourmeux revealed a long list or potential suitors for the Lille winger and, sadly, Liverpool was not among them:
"There is much talk of an offer of €30m from Manchester City, which will see him remain at Lille for the next six months. Michel Seydoux [Lille President] is seeking €40m though. His future is in any case destined for a big European club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City, AC Milan, Inter or Juventus."
Lucas Moura (Sao Paolo)
Moura's agent Wagner Ribeiro recently told a Brazilian radio station that Liverpool had put in a bid for the exciting starlet:
"I received three offers for my client [Moura] from Chelsea, Inter and Liverpool"..
The player himself has also insisted that he has no plans to leave Sao Paulo:
"I will stay at Sao Paulo. You will see a more motivated Lucas who has a desire to succeed. We lacked a title in 2011 and that is objective for the New Year. I expect a better 2012 for myself and the club".
Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid)
The 24-year-old's father and agent recently told La Stampa:
"When someone tells us we are not welcome at the club then I'm sure we will receive very good proposal. However, Nobody at Real Madrid has said anything about wanting to sell Gonzalo and he doesn't have any intention of leaving. In fact, he wants to continue with Real Madrid until his contract expires in June 2016".
Benjamin Corgnet (Dijon)
Corgnet recently told L'Equipe:
"To stay with Dijon, that's what I want, and that's what the coach wants. After, you never know what can happen, but I think it would be the best for me to end the season with Dijon".
Loic Remy (Lyon)
Speaking after Marseille's 2-0 victory over Lille last weekn, Remy - who scored both goals - reaffirmed his commitment to Marseille:
"I'm staying. I will 100 per cent stay at Marseille until the end of the season and even the end of my contract. I have spoken with the president and the staff. And it would not be right for me to leave this club. We'll see next summer, but that's not even in my head for now".
Fernando Llorente (Athletic Bilbao)
Llorente told MARCA last week:
"I don't listen to any of the speculation, and I am very focused here at Bilbao. I feel very comfortable and appreciated, and I am not thinking about anything else right now."
Cheik Tiote (Newcastle)
Tiote recently told the Newcastle Chronicle:
"People can say whatever they want to say about me, but I'm a professional footballer, and I play for Newcastle. I'm not thinking of leaving in January, I'm very happy playing for this club. That's my job, and I need to work hard for the team and the club".
Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina)
The Italian's Agent recently dismissed speculation:
"I was quite surprised when I read the report about Riccardo allegedly having turned down Juventus. I can say that there are no recent developments regarding his future".
Yann M'Vila (Rennes)
Over the weekend, M'Vila's agent, Tim Hager told fcinternews.it:
"He [M'Vila] is happy at Rennes, the directors do not want to lose him. President Patrick Le Lay is very rich and does not need to sell players. Inter haven’t contacted me, and nor has anyone else, so I can say that M’Vila will definitely stay at Rennes."

hopefully some foreign flair will be coming to compliment luis.
ReplyDeleteGreat Brief!!! Thanks. YNWA
ReplyDeleteHazard destined to top European club and they mention CITY! let him say European clubs with money then that would sound more like it! And he they are so eager on more money why be ashamed of it later... and claim that they did not join for the money! seriously there attitude is pathetic, but after all what would you expect from a 21 year old with lots of money?!
ReplyDeleteI doubt many think we are realistically in for Hazard and Higuain.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that John Henry will not be writing any cheques for Kenny.
ReplyDeleteHence why we are now starting to hear about LOAN DEALS.
I'd wager none of these players mentioned comes to Anfield.
I'd love to be wrong but doubt it.
Jaimie on another note why don't you ask the fans should Dalglish fall on his sword in the summer who we should be looking at?
I know many don't want to entertain it but as a exercise on it would be interesting to see what peoples view are on the alternatives...you can tell it's slow at work for me today...lol
Countdown is just a few days. Go and get em.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fortunate if KD does step away in the summer and Mourinho steps in...Now that would be something!
ReplyDeleteNo more money for Kenny. This madness must stop now. Our transfer money bonfire is spreading uncontrollably like an outback bush fire/ Unless Kenny can recoup exactly what he spent the purse strings should be welded shut. This recoup in spending will only be possible once a Boeing 747 is pulled through the eye of a needle.
ReplyDeleteThe list is obvious. All 9 players are non British & I have little doubt that after the treatment non Brits were given @ LFC by KD & his deputy any quality foreigner would like to come here.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't think JH 'll give a single penny to KD after his transfer howlers. Someone stop talking any rubbish that the transfers are Commolli's fault. It's LFC & someone please don't ask me to believe that an young Frenchman 'll dominate King Kenny here. Actually, only great purchase in last 2 windows was Suarez & the credit goes to Commolli; KD had nothing to do with it. Had he been there, I am sure KD would have spent that 23mn for some more British trash.
Actually, I think by the end of this season KD 'll step down with personal reason & the owners 'll allow him a passage to slip through gracefully. This time the yanks are not going to make the same mistake - they 'll appoint the Manager with proper due delligence. I 'll not be surprised if a French, Dutch, Portuguese or Spanish taking over (I can bet O'neal 'll not be selected - the yanks are not going to appoint another 60 years old Brit) with full backroom staff. The new manager 'll simply broom away the KD biased trashes to free as much salary as possible & 'll build the team almost from scratch.
Jose might be too much to ask for, but I 'll not be surprised if we see someone like Deschamp, Rafa (yes, yes) or Rijkard to take over. There 'll be lots, lots of continental or Latin players, far superior in terms of skill, tallent & speed than those KD picked garbages.
In King Kenny we must trust
ReplyDeleteOn another note why dont YOU bugger off instead of coming with this bullshit kneejerk reaction to failed instant success?
ReplyDeleteKenny will be here for at least 3 years so why dont you just give it a break and support the team instead of coming up with your bollocks?
you'd be surprised... lol
ReplyDeleteomg weve barely spent 60m and youre acting like it should guarantee us a top 4 spot....FFS get a grip!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe mistake was going for British players who more than often overvalued but not gifted talent wise.
ReplyDeleteWell im embarrassed about the posts previously...firstly nice article and nicely summed up.
ReplyDeleteBut, what are these people going on about?? do u not remember the state we were in last year, and as jevon said, weve spent 60m and were still in with a shot of the top 4 - yet according to sum we need to sack the whole staff at the club..pls get a grip
as for KDs british purchases, coates? texeira? what are they?? english?? seriously,
if ur going to make accusations, pls back them up..
Whatever happens with Kenny I would hate to have Mourinho as our manager. He may be a good manager but he is a total disgrace and I despise him for what he has done with the great club Real Madrid.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to understand what most people are complaining about, did Kenny buy the players because they were British or because they all had premiership experience, availability, youthful potential and didn't demand Champions League status?
ReplyDeleteIf Kenny really had a buy British agenda, i'm sure we could have had Wayne Bridge or Stephen Warnock at LB instead of a Spaniard. I'm sure he could have found a British understudy goalkeeper too instead of the Brazilian Doni. Maybe even had Gary Cahill instead of Uruguayan Coates. Why did he allow a British player Joe Cole to go out on loan?
rafa u avin a laugh av u fogot the game we needed to win when he took torres off then every week after bad choices he lost the job and what a surprise get his pay off and walked into his new job, then cocked that up
ReplyDeletea realistic fan.........................thank god.
ReplyDeleteand needs money to spend................not a meesly £60 mill in this day and age
ReplyDeleteagreed. the idea was right of kennys. but so far its not worked out.
ReplyDeletetheres just no patience. but the effort and desire has to be a lot better.......clearly!
please tell me you are either:
ReplyDelete(A) Joking
(B) Not a liverpool fan
(C) All of the above.
Well, thank goodness no footballer, agent, club or manager has ever made a misleading statement about a transfer immediately before doing the opposite. - thanks for conclusively revealing the CONFIRMED transfer DECISIONS Jaimie.
ReplyDeleteYou even say in the article that Kenny has said we're not signing anyone - but that you hope that's not true (accepting that quotes are often untrue). And then you list quotes from other sources as if they're gospel and proof of CONFIRMED DECISIONS.
Obviously most, if not all of these rumours are nonsense. It's January, and newspapers are lazy. But you really didn't CONFIRM any DECISIONS here Jaimie.
Well, none of these guys will end up at Anfield, that's for sure. And, even if they do, you wonder whether we can reverse the slide in our coaching that makes decent prospects look like donkeys. I'm still not convinced that is not us and our poor tactics making our players look worse. Very few players seem to succeed here. I am starting to wonder if they are all bad signings or whether we are managing them properly.
ReplyDeleteAs for successors to our manager. I called for O'Neill last year, people said he was rubbish but he seems to be doing it again with Sunderland. As for Mourinho, he's gone down in my estimation since he went to spain, but he gets results and doesn't get many performances like we saw at Bolton from his teams.
Moussa Sow is off to Fenerbache it looks like
ReplyDelete10m euros
kennys made the wrong signings for the wrong amount of money! end of!
ReplyDeletea total waste...henderson...downing...CA...carroll..all of them undoubtedly admired by EPL managers...but never as excited as LFC to buy them....
ReplyDeleteI am glad you think top 4 wake up clown and as for coates he will be lucky to get a far chance and as for texeira well he was only just bought. Let me sum it up for you if you want flare and that something special you wont find it in any english player.
ReplyDeleteThe team has potential as shown in the 1-0 win over City & 1-1 draw when Liverpool clearly dominated Man Utd. Must admit the effort at times appears lacklustre against the bottom teams. Without Suarez the zest to finish opportunities is evident & Carroll though trying - lacks the pace to finish moves with Liverpools attacking style. Keep in mind Liverpool has hit the woodwork as often as the net & only inches have seperated us challenging the top 2. Agree we need a speedy Talisman to cash in up front but apart from that watch all the ppl who are whining change the tune after Liverpool beats Man City(again) & Man Utd in the next few days. Support KK & the players now when they need you- not just when LFC win - some shallow supporters out there & its not the Liverpool way.
ReplyDeletesack dalgish first!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI cant believe some of these comments, show some re4spect to Dalglish. He loves Liverpool Football Club and is looking to take us back where we belong. Yes he has bought mostly British but as stated above, if this was his only policy he would never have bought enrique, coates, doni and allowed cole to go on loan. There are now rules in place which mean u must have a percentage of home based players in the squad and remember Adam counts as a foreigner under this policy. Carroll has been poor but looks to be improving but the gap between our midfield and lone striker is widening. He has no support and for the time it takes for someone to push up the attack is broken down, but again it will be Carroll that gets the blame for this. Downing has been far from poor, he has put in more crosses than any other player and has created more chances than any other player but it is Carroll Suarez and Kuyt as well as some others who have failed to convert the opportunity. As for henderson, at the beginning he didnt look like his heart was in it but he is a young lad who has moved form his boyhood club to a massive club. He seems to now get it and he was by far our best player against Bolton, infact he has ran his heart out most games hes played since november and been motm contender for a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteI think every liverpool fan should get off their high horse, stop calling for Dalglish's head, we kind of expected a miraculous turn around but we all know it takes time. Give him the time and respect he deserves and this squad will come good!!!!!!!
and u can do better rofl , dominated nearly every team weve played this year if u have watched each game ,its not kennys fault we hit posts or goal keepers play blinders against us ,seriously look at the money rafa benitez wasted on players ,and kenny is ridiculed ,support ure club , if a bit of l uck had gone away this year wed definately pushing top easy
ReplyDelete100% spot on
ReplyDeletewe paid 35 million for Andy caroll and we don t wont 2 pay 25 million for hazard!!!!!!!! what is this
ReplyDeleteThe chances of Higuain joining Liverpool are about the same as me sleeping with Jennifer Aniston. Why on earth would he go to Anfield if he's with the second best team in the world now? Get serious! And if he DID go he would be awful overnight, just like most players who go to Liverpool ( Keane, Cole etc ).
ReplyDeleteANY other rubbish article on the subject would have us signing if not already signed at least one of those players, and I wouldn't have believed it not even opened it... saw this article and thought fkn finally some good news from a good source!! But no good news... we got Suarez this time last year so i guess you never know but i think we really need at least one fresh attacker good enough to at least scare our boys into playing at their true level
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking our best bet to beating off Chelsea, Mancs, even spurs to Hazard would be Joe Cole's influence - doesn't matter the price - and they love Cole over there so the signs are good but we wanted to sign Sow and can't even beat a Turkish club (no disrespect to the Turks and their league) ....
ReplyDeletecome on give Kenny a break even Capello was wetting himself over those three a year ago. They haven't worked out sure but they were proven. Henderson is basically Gerrards understudy so his progress is nil, Carroll was never a direct replacement for Torres (we got Suarez) and poor old downing even though most of us knew his brilliant assist stats from last season no one was really excited to sign him.. don't know whats up that..?
ReplyDeleteblah blah blah only "five days" to go in this transfer window and all we read is speculation and no concrete signings what the hell i believe LFC is already resigned that finishing 6th or 7th is fine rather than to overspend in this window gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
ReplyDeletei personally think there needs to be a clean up of players at liverpool.. im confused why we bought carroll in the first place he doesnt look fit enough or very ball aware at times his first touch is shocking to say the least..we need first of all to sort out the defence as sometimes they just dont seem to have a clue.. midfield just doesnt seem to fit well with the likes of downing, charlie adam and gerrard together... to look at the first team the only players who actually worry teams are suarez and gerrard.. we need players who scare other teams can cause problems.. we need two fast wingers... and a striker to help out suarez.. shame we didnt keep some decent players a liverpool..alonso,cisse i think dalglish needs another season to sort the squad out realistically and while it may not be the best team at the moment ill stick by liverpool and the players no matter what happens
ReplyDeleteThanks for being our bitch - hope you enjoyed the Man City game - I'm sure if Higuain watched that dominent performance he would be on a plane to Anfield now. A couple of players you forgot about like Bellamy were not so awful after all hey??
ReplyDeleteFull credit to KD for getting to Wembley with a very mediocre bunch of players at his disposal. I've always rated Bellamy and was gutted when he was turfed out the first time. However, if you truly picture Gonzalo Higuain joining the Reds you are sadly mistaken. Only hope Liverpool don't approach Wembley with the same arrogance they approached Bolton or the result wil be the same.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with everything on your post - though mediocre was a bit tough its a fair call for over half the current squad.....
ReplyDelete
