Collymore: Carroll and Torres should return to Newcastle and Liverpool...

Andy Carroll signed for Liverpool almost a year ago, and it's fair to say that the big man has still not settled in at Anfield. The question is, will he ever do the business for Liverpool? Stan Collymore doesn't think so, and believes that the best way forward would be for Carroll to return to Newcastle.

In his weekly column for The People, Collymore - who formed a lethal partnership with Robbie Fowler between 1995 and 1997 - argued:

"It will be the transfer sensation of all time. LIVERPOOL must send Andy Carroll back to NEWCASTLE and then ask Fernando Torres to pack his bags at CHELSEA and head home to Anfield.

"Neither move has worked out, and everyone involved would be much better off if some deal could be hammered out for the £85million pair to return to their old clubs.

"The issue with Carroll is that he had only been in the Premier League a short amount of time before leaving Tyneside and he desperately needs games.

"Now, with Demba Ba heading off to the African Cup of Nations, Newcastle would surely jump at the chance to take Carroll back – even in a loan deal.

"His style is not suited to Liverpool, so he cannot take all the blame for the fact his move has not gone to plan.

"In this day and age, you’ve only got a matter of weeks to adjust before you are branded a flop, so Carroll needs to get back to basics and get some top-flight games under his belt. If it happens he could keep the Toon steam train chugging on".

If this was a possibility, I would take it in a heartbeat. Even on current form, I would rather have Torres, and in my view, Liverpool should just cut their losses on Carroll and let him return to Newcastle.

Alan Pardew admitted a few days ago that he would 'love to have him back', so the door is definitely open.

Do it!

  1. Seriously, it's getting boring now.

Come Jan 31st there is more chance of you coming up with an original atricle than Torres and Carrol both returning.

    You are a wannabe journalist.

Journalists don't sit reading through other sites such as Tribal Football and other websites with zero credability. You just rob content from other sites then stick a no right click script (which doesn't work by the way) and claim it to be your own.

  2. must admit i agree with Pepe, get the facts straight, Andy Carroll was bought by Liverpool on the last day of the Transfer Window, so how is it 1 YEAR today.. its 1 YEAR on Tuesday 31st January 2012 :)

  3. This becomes quite comical. His style suits Newcastle but NOT Liverpool then why on earth would a loan back to Newcastle make him suited to Liverpool on his return? He would be playing the NUFC way still ! This smacks of Alice in Wonderland to me....smiles.

  6. There's not a DOGGING chance of that happening stan ,

  7. There's more chance of stan coming back and leading liverpool to a league title

  8. Stan Collymore - what a shining example of a human being he is.

Why on earth would anybody take heed of anything he has to say about anything. Why doesn't Andy just blame his struggle to find form on 'depression'. I'm sure Stan, for one, would understand.

  9. He's correct in that Donkey is an Ass.
Carroll is never going to make the grade.
You lot can stick your heads in the sand as much as you want CARROLL IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

  10. I'd forgive Torres if he genuinely came out and said that leaving was a mistake and he'd be loyal to Liverpool, but he won't ever be 100% loyal so he can f off. AVB has said he's not letting him go.

I remember a year ago when we had just signed Suarez, I was dreaming of a Torres/Suarez partnership, would've been magic. But that went to shit pretty quickly.

When asked about a possible return to Newcastle, Andy Carroll said "Hee-haw, Hee-haw" and continued to eat his carrot.

  11. What does Collymore's past have to do with his opinion on this issue? Attack the argument, not the person.

  12. Carroll responds to the speculation on his return to Newcastle.

  13. Now that Gerrad is back you will start to see Carroll banging the goals in all he needs is a good supply and im sure Captain Fantastic will offer the crosses that he needs.
I cant wait to see who is brought in in janaury would love to see Cavani or Soldado,F.Reges and G.Cahill i would also love to see A.Johnson on are right flank we need CL football so we can bring in the world class footballers.
PLZ PLZ PLZ NOT D.BENT KING KENNY PLZ PLZ PLZ!!!!!!!

  14. At United we saw enough of Andy to know he's a good player - but £35M was well over the top and impossible for us to refuse. I'm sure Dalgeish will find a way to utilise Andy's talents.

  15. Why do  people persist in insulting Torres,Torres did nothing wrong he hung on in the hope the false promises by H and G would come to fruition ie Rafa would be given the money for 4 or 5 world class players. It was all lies, then they got rid of Torres mentor and the man who made him the worlds best striker and replaced him with Hodgson. When the new owners came in they said they would be building for the future,no quick fix so i believe as Torres isnt getting any younger he was within his rights to leave, he couldnt hang around for another 3 or 4 years to see if Liverpool could become as successful as we were under Rafa.

  16. Agree 100%. I have said same, may times. Carroll is championship material, he is far too sloooooow and cumbersome to be anything else.
He might also learn, for instance that, u don't win headers, when u jump, from a standing position, u need to ATTACK the ball!!!.

  17. Collymore speaks his mind, doesn't matter the possibilty is always there esp. Any Caroll goes back to Newcastle. A polific striker is need to complement Suarez. Better get an excellent one qiuck, the likes of Messi or Higuan but not Darren Bent. Me, Ashfah loves Messi.

  18. we wanna move fowrard not back keep it the way it is and we'll see what caroll can do during suarezs suspension if kd plays him 90 mins in them 8 we might jus get some of the 35 mill back i think he defo deserves another year hear and im ashamed of all the so called reds letting him walk alone thats not the liverpool way. YNWA!!!

  19. as someone who lost a family member through depression i would rather you didn't mock people  with it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. And if it was depression, then he obviously wouldn't get your support you moron, why would you comment with venom on Collymore and Carrol. 1 in 4 get depression at some stage in their lives, its a global phenomenon. This is the worst comment if ever seen on any forum, total plonker

  21. Kellymw83...can you explain why we have to wait for Steven Gerrard to come back from injury?
I thought we bought Stuart (headless chicken) Downing to provide crosses...and Enrique.
Enrique mind has provided crosses to Donkey but he simply can't score them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ashfah I agree Darren Bent wouldn't work with Suarez as he DOESN'T TALK TO BLACK PEOPLE

  23. Sure why not just sign Xavi, Iniesta and Ronaldo too..ridiculous comment

  24. 35 million it still makes me sick everytime i think about it!! but it's not carroll's fault he did not set the price if anyone is to blame it's kk he rushed into this with out doing his homework there was so many players out there he could have brought for half that who would have put the ball in the net. but hey whats done is done as long as torres strugles to find the net im happy not that i have anything against him personely it just takes a little bit of presure of andy c. people moaning about bent make me laugh bent + chance = goals

  25. Carroll is young, and like most of us at that age he thrives on confidence.Imagine the warmth he felt coming through the ranks at newcastle knowing he had the support of his city, familly etc. Moving to liverpool he had lost all the comfort zone and was much more pressurized. With time he could get back to feeling relaxed and playing well again. The question is will he get it? If he doesnt get a bit of luck in these next few games he may never get the chance to settle in.

    ReplyDelete
  26. if we bought carroll for 7m then no 1 here would slag him of yes its his price tag but what do you all think he can do in last 10 mins when thats all he gets each match he starts i think he plays well he holds the ball realy well passes realy well we all no he can shot he just needs time i think downing been a waste of money tbh as hes here to provide great crosses think iv seen 1 its a joke we all no carroll not best on the floor but in the air who better then him no 1 in my eyes fuck torres the scum he left us noin he was are main man let him rot

    ReplyDelete
  27. carroll is the future in my eyes young just needs more playing time i bet if he plays them 8 games 90 mins he will score 5 goals

    ReplyDelete
  28. the most waste of money kk spent is the 40m on henderson n downing in my eyes shelvey twice the player hendo is and downing glen johnson could do his job and bring kelly right back carroll will bring goals to this club maybe not this season but next member what kenny said we didnt buy him for 1 season

    ReplyDelete
  29. as ridiculous as the suarez fa report!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Amy wouldn't fit our style anymore and a return wouldn't work as before we had a team got around supplying him long balls, free kicks and crosses.
When you lot bought him for £35m (for him to play his best), you should have also went for Barton & Nolan as these two were essential components of the previous Newcastle team/system.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Carroll is begining to show signs of improvement, the chances he has missed have come from is movement and runs into the box once he gets his power back he will start taking those chances.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Another duff article Jaimie. You seem to have considerably upped the amount of lacklusture posts of late.

Shame on all you fans for not giving Carroll any kind of chance at Liverpool.  He has had a fair amount of bad luck / good saves this season and one thing which will not help him is a lack of support from the fans.

ps several of you who have posted your venom on here also routinely slagged Lucas off - i guess age range of 12-17

    YNWA

  33. Isn't Carroll a risk of depression with all this negative press, home sickness and poor form? Collymore should offer more support to Carroll and how he can succeed at Liverpool not keep coming out with negativity which breeds negativity which breeds depression!

    ReplyDelete
  34. carroll might come good but going back to newcastle is not he answer,a good run of games and a fair chance before we get shot of him gerrard will give better crosses than that donkey downing and as for adam not fit to lace alonsos boots and as slow as a 3 legged horse

  37. Absolute tosh yet again being written about Andy Carroll. Yes he has officially been a Liverpool player a year but the majority of that has been in the treatment room or on the bench so how can judgements be made already? He is a young striker away from his boyhood club and home playing for a massive club in a new city with a hefty price tag wrapped around his neck and a media frenzy going on all around him. Is it really any surprise he hasn't hit the dizzy heights yet? Get off his back and give the kid some space to develop and grow.

  38. NEGRO is not a racist word. The United States Census Bureau announced that "Negro" would be included on the 2010 United States Census alongside "Black" and "African-American" - does that mean the US government promotes and condones racism?

The trouble here is the judgement has been made by 3 individuals who probably have never experienced a second of true racism in their lives. They are a joke and disgrace to the United Kingdom.

THE FA OF ENGLAND IS THE RACIST PARTY HERE, NOT LUIS SUAREZ!

  39. Steven Gerrard set up more chances for Carroll in half an hour than he got all season..two or three. The big lad needs a goal or two for his confidence and if Gerrard can keep putting it on a plate for him he will come good. Now that Carroll has got the Newcastle game out of the way he might be able to feel more a Liverpool player ..his time here so far has been very stop start..Stevie showed his superior footballing brain the other night in demonstrating the type of service Carroll needs...it was as much a lesson for Adams and Downing as anything!

  40. I think it has now got to the stage where Andy now has history against him being a sucess at liverpool. Look back at all the big money signings especially strikers that have had such a bad start to their career at a new club, in every case i can remember they have been moved on without being able to turn it around at that paticular club. ( if anybody can remember any player who has then please mention them but off top of my head i cant recall one) Shevchenko at chelsea, chris sutton at chelsea, torres (most prob) at chelsea, forlan at utd you can also go back even further before the premiership. Gary birtles at utd, peter davenport at utd, justin fashnu at notts forest, if you were being picky maybe michael robinson at liverpool. all these players had mediocre to in birtles case horrific starts to their new club and each one moved on.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Suarez and Torres with Gerrard behind would be a dream combination. I'd pay 15m for Torres and give Chelsea Carroll.

    ReplyDelete
  42. A persons past experiences help to 'make' them the individual they are and as a result contribute to their opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sorry to hear that and I can assure you I am not mocking anybody that genuinely suffers from it.

  44. Carroll would and does get my full support. Collymore not an ounce.

Surely your not that simple that you couldn't deduce that from my comment.

  46. just one observation, most liverpool fans were calling for lucas's head in the last two seasons and now liverpool cant wait for lucas to get back from injury. give caroll time, hes only twenty two. He is a buy for the future, he still has 8 years of football left minimum, subject to injuries unlike torres who was a buy for the present for chelsea. he needs time to get used to the way liverpool play. if gerrard and the others keep on feeding him the way he was fed against newcastle, he'll eventually get into the game.

  50. I see Stan collymore is still smoking the wacky backie !!! The guy is a fruitcake! Never settled at LFC in the 2 yrs he had, so how can he know the answer? He wasted his talent and walked alone at LFC FACT! He beat up Urika Johnson way back in the 90s.
So woman beater , drug abuser , suffers depression , wrecked his football career .... Does his opinion really count? I don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thierry Henry at Arsenal, and Ian Rush and Peter Beardsley at Liverpool? If we extend it to wingers and other forwards, how about Ronaldo and Nani at Man U?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yea, and why not add Messi and Ronaldo to your wishlist too? Fucking Liverpool supporters just keeps on dreaming about the stars coming in every window, whem reality is players like Adam, Henderson, and Carroll...

    ReplyDelete
  53. True what game are you watching ..as bad as Carroll has been the supply he has been getting has been even worse...absolutely rubbish crosses into the box

    ReplyDelete
  54. Bring back Torres and the club will take another step backwards. Dun do it, pls. So many other good strikers like Huntelaar around.

  55. Fowler was lethal. But Stan far from it

  56. Nothing is impossible in football, it's a matter of willing buyer and willing seller. Keep thinking, folks.

  57. i would love carroll back at the toon

    ReplyDelete
  58. Gerrard put some great crosses in against newcastle.carroll is low on confidence (not surprising when reading thngs like this) give time i think he will start hitting the net. he has been unlucky a few times by world class saves like against man u and fulham i think. wait and see over the next few matches

    ReplyDelete
  59. Torres has been a poor player for almost 2 years. It's comical to see you guys (probably the same ones that were so vehement in your anger towards Torres!) be so quick to turn on Carroll and so eager to see Torress return

    ReplyDelete
  60. Carroll is 23 years old with barely any experience in the top flight. Drogba was a poor player for a couple of years for Chelsea (even after dominating us for Marseille!) before suddenly turning into a beast later on. Carroll could potentially perform a similar role for Liverpool. He has a long way to go, but a lot of time to reach his potential also.

(btw Dalglish only playing him against those teams that have bigger defenders than him surely isn't helping...)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sell Carroll back to his home club n buy Torres from chelsea that will be awesome in my dream Suarez will be awesome partnership with Torres so please buy Torres not d.bent

I been watching aston villa match, there is no goalkeeper n striker of Aston villa pass to d.bent n he shoot and then what happen. He blast wide with no goalkeeper trust me he is shitter than Andy Carroll.

King Kenny If you reading this
Then please sell Andy Carroll and buy torres back to his old club if he refuse back to anfield then try buy higuain

Also buy xabi alonso cover for lucas

    Thank you for reading

  62. Unfortunately Caroll is not a natural athlete and due to his size and body type, this will never change.  It doesn't matter how much "time" or how many games he is given, you can't change that fact. The thing that makes him good is if the team play a style to suit him. Liverpool doesn't - Newcastle does. I would be sad to see him go - he's young and he's a real trier, but I don't see him fitting in at LFC.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Would certainly love to have Torres back at Anfield but also want to give Carroll some more time to prove himself .
