Alan Hansen's criticism of Chelsea has incurred the wrath of Andre Villas-Boas on more than one occasion this season, and the Liverpool legend has risked more bad blood by launching a stinging attack on Chelsea defenders David Luiz and Jose Bosingwa.
Earlier in the season, Hansen accused AVB of being 'naive' in his tactical approach, and dedicated an entire column in 'The Telegraph' to eviscerating his Chelsea team.
That criticism was nothing compared to Hansen's savaging of Luiz and Bosingwa though, which is sure to irritate AVB even further. Speaking on 'Match of the Day', Hansen raged:
"If you're talking about defensive play, the full-back, Bosingwa, makes Luiz look like a world-beater at times. He is so bad it's embarrassing.
"Against Wolves, right at the start, he gave Edwards a chance with a bad touch and a bad tackle. That's all right but from the set-pieces it was worse. The position he got himself in when Roger Johnson hit the post, that was terrible, for a full-back to get in that position, entirely the wrong side of the man he's marking.
"But when the next one comes in, and you would have thought he would learned his lesson from Johnson, he lets him get past him again. That's not good enough.
"In the second half it got worse. Right at the start he let Jarvis go past him, with an effort that's never been a tackle, never been a challenge, and they could have scored then.
"And for the equaliser, you have to watch his positioning. It was bad enough when the ball came in, the wrong side of Fletcher, but where he ends up, way to the side of the goal, is beyond belief"
Strong stuff! AVB responded to Hansen's previous criticism of his team; I wonder if he'll do the same this time...?

Bizarre how Hansen's remarkable insights into the art of defending have never seen anyone offer him a job coaching?
ReplyDeletehansen is absolutely right he cannot play anymore but of course still has the knowledge and experience as he was one of the greatest defender ever. keep it up alan we love you
ReplyDeletewhere are the comments on pepe reina from last night?
ReplyDeleteHow could you possibly know if he's ever been offered a job coaching?! TV and newspaper punditry pays better, but that doesn't mean he has been offered roles as a defensive coach, as he was a superb defender!
ReplyDeleteYeah thats why hes only ever been a pundit...its easy to pick holes in players when you are an armchair viewer.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair they've never forgiven us for taken their Nando away from them/1
Hansen has himself said he'd never go into management as you have to be committed 24hrs a day. He realised this after a night out with Kenny and after getting back to Kenny's for a drink in the wee small hours, Kenny was searching the channels on his giant satellite dish and found an obscure game from Argentina. Kenny lives and sleeps football. Hansen pursues other interests.
ReplyDeleteYeh it's true bosingwa sometimes gets him self caught out! I admit that as a chelsea fan!
ReplyDeleteNow you admit reina attempted save on aguero shot last night was if not the worst goal keeping seen in pl in a long time!
Pepe might even have over that donkey De Gea hahaha. Right about that!
i read the headline and i thought he was referring to andy carroll or stewart downing. *major sigh of relief*
ReplyDeleteany reason y my comment has been deleted?? just because i said i agree with hansen?? haha u funny jamie!
ReplyDeleteNone of your comments have been deleted. Check the thread properly before making accusations like that.
ReplyDeletehansen is absolutely right. whatever he said is true. he is paid to say whots on his mind, and that's what he is doing.. he is appointed because of his knowledge and experience, he is a every right in saying so. in fact any amateur watching the game can see that both chelsea defenders are poor. so y hansen cannot say it?
ReplyDeleteHe is ABSOLUTELY correct, Bosingwa is not good enough for Chelsea, when will someone start looking at Ashley Cole's awful defending?
ReplyDeletehe still a better kepper than that fag cech
ReplyDelete£55 million for him ? You'd give him back in a heartbeat !!
ReplyDeleteI am a chelsea fan and I completely agree with Hansen - Bosingwa is awful and consistently makes mistakes every game, doesn't have a clue about defending and I think he has been very poor going forward as well. He is our weakest link by far.
ReplyDeleteLuiz
ReplyDeleteplayed well the other day and Hansen's criticism on MOTD was the only
embarassing thing on the night, he gave absolutely no evidence to back
up what he was saying and I got the impression he said it for the sake
of saying it. Same with Torres being torn apart when he was one of the
best players on the pitch
Granted they both haven't done well in the past but they should be
judged on the merits of that game not ones that came before. I don't see
them doing it to any other team, blatant Chelsea bias in the media and
it's a joke.
What else is new. What is to be said is already said.
ReplyDeleteits funny how he keeps digging at chelsea players when the Liverpool ones or even worse look at pepe raina i think this is about the 3rd time this season he made a really silly mistake but that jackass ignore it, what about carrol and downing two of the worse attacking player in the league
ReplyDeleteAt 200k an episode of match of the day why would he want to be coaching lmfao!!!
ReplyDeleteFACT OF THE MATTER IS HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH!!!!!
such a wanker !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Hansen was right about Bosingwa and Luiz, their defending has been shambolic at times this season. As a Liverpool fan though, I think we should also look at our own shortcomings, and Reina did hand the game over with the fact goal, considering that we are not that great at scoring ourselves. I think Hansen should definitely say something about our own defending, considering that we have scored two own goals recently. We are consistenly letting ourselves down, but I see the fact that Hansen is digging more into Chelsea a disturbing sign of how far we have fallen. Chelsea are not expected to play this badly, yet we are. More criticism like that can only help to push our players to play better, our coaches to improve their tactics, or if all fails our owners to find a new manager. See how much longer AVB lasts if this continues. We clamoured for Hodgson to go when he was not delivering, clearly something is not working this season either.
ReplyDeletehansen is, as usual, absolutly right however i would say that both players might benifit from being played further up the pitch, luiz as a defensive midfielder and bosingwa as a winger, luiz with the ball at his feet is very talented and composed as well has him being very strong and bosingwa has the speed to trouble most full backs in the league, not to mention he has a hell of a shot on him. i think both have struggled to adapt to the speed and movement of players in the premier league. However i do remember when we played benfica a few years back in portugal with torres at the top of his game and luiz played magnificantly, keeping torres quite for the entire game, i must admit i was ightly impressed by him in the game and actually hoped that we would sign him to partner carra at the time, how pleased am i that it never happened.
ReplyDeleteHe probably took note of Bosingwa's 'NASTY'kick in the back to An LFC player who was defending the ball at the corner flag! NASTY LITTLE MAN BOSINGWA !!!
ReplyDeleteHansen has forgotten more about football than you will ever know
ReplyDeleteyes hes worse than Carrol lucky escape
ReplyDeletecome back when you get a new brain Pepe the best keeper in the league
ReplyDeleteits common knollege with chelsea fans these two are shocking at defending.hansen knows his onions. shame he didnt give mamagement a go
ReplyDeletedidnt know match of the day was on last night??????
ReplyDeletewind ye neck in
Look as irritating as Hansen is he is right about Bosingwa's display against Wolves. His comments are an accurate reflection of what took palce, I saw the game. Bosingwa hardly ever jumps with an opposition player and tries (with various success) to 'block off' his player, its not good enough...and whilst i am on the subject his attacking crosses are bloody awful!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you think that Cech's crash helmet and face mask make him look like a poor man's BATMAN ?...lol
ReplyDeleteNow it's time for Alan to savage Andy Carroll. His play is permanently embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteyou obviously dont watch the games do you because other than not scoring his play over the last 3 games has been greatly improved, with a creative winger the goals will start to flow. give the lad a chance he is only 22, how many years did it take lucas to become the player he is now? i bet you were one of the people who wrote him off too.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I do watch the games. It is excruciating because the football Liverpool play makes it very hard to stay awake. If you are happy with Carroll and his two goals that is your concern. Newcastle have a striker now who has scored 15. That makes him seven and a half times better, something I have no trouble believing. Yes, I did slate Lucas and I still do. He doesn't score, doesn't make goals and has no style. When you've seen top players like Molby, Whelan, Case, McDermott, Kennedy, Barnes, Souness etc in midfield, you do not get excited about Lucas! I like donkeys but prefer them on the beach, not on a football field.
ReplyDeletemate, trust me weve forgive you as hes doing so well at chelski at the moment!
ReplyDeletewhy no action was taken over that nasty kick till date??
ReplyDeleteit was yossi if im not mistaken. Jamie, what do u think about it??
That was actually Cole on Benayoun if I'm not mistaken!
ReplyDeleteBut never the less... Their defenses are constantly breeched!
And let's be honest here... I think every football pundit would agree that Luiz especially has done a lot of silly things causing goals! I can't see him in there for too much longer! Especially if they get Cahill!
please put your hands up if you watched match of the day on tuesday night?? none that's because it was not on. how the hell can hanson slag of the liverpool players with no audience!!! pepe has been and still is the best goal keeper in the prem. and one stupid mistake on a slipper wet surface does not change that carroll on the other hand thats a different matter i want him to be go but i just dont see it..
ReplyDeleteHe makes tonnes of money being a pundit thats why. The was the finest at his trade in the world. A brilliant player.
ReplyDeleteHahaha Pepe is only as half as good as Hart and as I said
ReplyDeleteearlier I am a Chelsea supporter! De Gea might even get the nod over
Pepe. My best mate is Liverpool supporter n he has no problems admitting Pepe has dropped form in last month n Carroll should go on loan in Coca Cola league!
Also why we taking the p$ss out of other teams, nothing makes me more happy then reminding everyone about Jones OG today! That was worse then Pepe goalkeeping effort!
I was thinking this article would be about Hansen talking about a Liverpool player
ReplyDeleteMarkyHarris60? Obviously VERY slow off the mark today weren't you? Hansen WAS Offered the LIVERPOOL Manager's job a Couple of times both before AND after he finished playing & even pretended to accept once. Suggest you do research in future before opening your gob again & embarrassing yourself no? Idiot...........
ReplyDeleteJarrod? Jose Reina half as good as Hart? Let Hart get as MANY Golden Gloves (for CLEAN SHEETS) awards over FIVE seasons as Pepe & THEN compare them. Idiot. Also as to De Gea getting the nod over Pepe? What for? Boot cleaning because as goalkeepers? That is ALL De Gea will EVER be fit to do as against Pepe & BTW? However bad Pepe is when he makes his once every TWO season errors? Cech is FAR worse - Pepe's FOUR times the Keeper he'll ever be. And Carroll? WILL be great Mark My words - He's NO worse than the UTTER donkey that was Drogba when he FIRST came to Chelsea & he'll improve FAR more than Drogba did. Suppose I'll give you the Jones OG mind. Not as funny as his one v Basle but still comical.
