Argentina Star's AGENT confirms: "It's time for him to move to a big club..."

The agent of Anderlecht's defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia has confirmed that the Argentine is being tracked by several top English clubs.

Biglia's agent Enzo Montepaone told Het Nieuwsblad:

"Fiorentina, Arsenal and Manchester United? The interest of those clubs is real.

"It's right that those clubs are interested. From the moment he came to Anderlecht it was the plan to grow as a player. Now is the moment for him to go to a big club.

"He can earn double his salary at another club. He will not leave Anderlecht for another European sub-top club. That's why we were not interested in the offer of Atletico Madrid.

"Big clubs know that there isn't much changed in their midfield line. They are searching for new blood. Biglia is a potential elite player.

"From Anderlecht point of view he doesn't have to leave, because Lucas has a contract until 2015. If it depends on Anderlecht he will be staying in Brussels. The minimum [transfer fee] is 8 million Euro. We still have until 1st of February."

Montepaone didn't mention Liverpool specifically but given the long-term injury to Lucas Leiva, the club may be in the market for a defensive midfielder, and for 8m Euros, the price seems to be right.

What do you think? Should Liverpool be looking at Biglia?

He even looks a bit like Lucas!

  1. Hopefully not

I think Spearing, Henderson, Shelvey etc can cover no problem

We need to prioritise the signing of a pacey right winger - Nathan Dyer would be ideal

This may then allow us to get the best out of Carroll

I noticed that a pundit that I don't rate at all, Robbie Savage, said the same thing earlier today

Watch a Spurs match and count how many chances are created for Adebayor by the raw pace of Bale and Lennon

These wingers are so quick that defenders cannot get themselves into comfortable defensive positions before the cross comes in

Carroll would be "tearing it up" at Spurs at present

  2. A bit tough to decide on youtube evidence only, Jaimie.  Still I would love to see some quality DM reinforcement... a guy who shall not only break up play but also being able to build up gradual attacks from behind.  Barcelona is great not because it has a target man (imagine Caroll in any of the Barca's drea teams) but because all players share a great philosophy: keep the ball, pass and move, pass and move, then again all and over again until it is over for the opposition.

I do not know whether this guy is this type of player but am a bit concerned that our DMs fall short of this ideal.

  3. I don't agree with you on not bringing a Lucas Leiva replacement, though Spearing is a decent player but if Liverpool ever wants to fight for titles then he is not the quality Liverpool needs to settle down on just because he is local boy. Henderson and Shelvey are talented and can do the job for time being but defensive midfield is not their natural position and hence Liverpool need to bring a quality replacement.
Lucas Leiva is turning into a great player but he plays well in slow tempo but struggles in high tempo games like Spurs so it would be great to have a tough tackling and energetic defensive midfielder in the mould of Mascherano, though Spearing is a similar player but he lacks footballing quality.
I agree with your point on bringing wingers with pace, Downing has proven to be a terrible signing so far but maybe with a quality winger on the other side he might play better like he did for Villa with Young on other side.
Another striker should also be a priority for Liverpool because of lack of goals.

  4. Lucas didn't play against spurs when we got ran all over the park, and Lucas best games come in high tempo games against the mancs chelsea & arsenal

  5. Get your facts right Lucas played that Spurs game, though he wasn't the chief culprit in that game as Charlie Adam was the one but Lucas didn't fare well either in that game and Liverpool were completely overrun in the midfield that day.
Chelsea have their weakest team since Abrahmovic has taken over and also Arsenal also fielded their weakest team in decades against Liverpool. Against Manchester teams Liverpool didn't win so it is pointless. Lucas is doing a great job but it would be better to have player who can inject energy into the Liverpool midfield as right now it is very slow.

  6. With Kenny hailing Spearings attitdue I can't see us buying any central midfield players Shelvey,Spearing and Henderson the return of Gerrard will fill in for Lucas who will be fit by next season.
We need a goal scoring winger or an other forward to solve our problem of not taking chances.
