Liverpool midfield legend Dietmar Hamann is a huge fan of summer signing Jordan Henderson, and his enthusiasm for the player is so great that he has total belief that the youngster will make it into the full England squad for Euro 2012.
Henderson has often been played out of position on the right this season but Hamann told LFC TV that it's probably only temporary:
"I think he [Henderson] is one of the brightest English prospects, and Long-term, he probably will be a central midfielder for Liverpool".
Didi is probably right, but I'm not so sure about his next (seemingly improbable) claim:
"I strongly fancy him to go to the Euros next year. He's a very talented kid, and England have to bring these players through now and take them to major tournaments".
"The England team has lacked this youth in recent years; they've stuck with the same team for too long, and they haven't performed. If he has a good season for Liverpool then I have no doubt whatsoever he'll be in the England squad for Euro 2012".
Liverpool legend John Barnes is another ex-player who believes Henderson is destined for the full England squad sooner rather than later. He recently enthused:
"Make no mistake, he is very well thought-of by England, and I think he can make it"
Is Henderson a dead-cert for England's Euro 2012 squad? He's started one game for England so far (against France, alongside Steven Gerrard), but I can't see how he's going to play enough games in his favoured position to put himself in the frame.
Anything is possible though, and I'm sure that Henderson will take great confidence in the fact that he's so well-regarded by such high-profile former players.

I agree with the fact I thimk he may turn into a really good buy in next few seasons but as for the Euros, I think this may be a little too soon.
ReplyDeleteBut you never know as the likes of Rodwell(Someone who i just do not see what the hype is with, I have never seen him have a good game!!) seem to be getting their chance!!
i think he is right, dont think he willmake the euro's but, if we support him i think he will become a very good player for us.
ReplyDeleteI rate him very highly in the middle of the park, he is very much like Gerrard, he just needs experience!!!!!
ReplyDeletestupid analysis! henderson is a failure!
ReplyDeleteGu Gu away with that nonsense mate!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the Euro 2012 squad.. That will depend on Capello, and if there are maybe better players to choose..... but I saw Hendo in the last two matches of the U21 team, and he was one of the key players. He made assists, runs into the box, shots on goal, disrupted the attacks... in other words, he was quite unusually active and visible on the pitch and created quite a few goal-scoring situations.
ReplyDeleteThe kid has a very good ball skill, technique, his vision is not bad, but what was obvious from his Liverpool games was some lack of spirit, lack of confidence, and maybe some fear or anxiety... he was trying to get rid of the ball as soon as he got it, and either sent it sideways or backwards. But he made a nice run in the Chelsea game, and that's a good sign that he is finding his feet already.
He has got the potential. Also, I think his head is in the right place, which is important.
i agree and who keeps him from playing central where he belongs that slow slow slow brazilian , pathetic really
ReplyDeletewise up lucas is playiny well
ReplyDeleteno he is,nt . what does he do ?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't yet know what Lucas does, you never will!!!!. Think about it before making daft comments!!!!
ReplyDeleteLucas?
ReplyDeleteOh he's just breaking up opponent play, nothing much.
Taking the ball out of defence to make counter-attacking passes...
Yeah that's nothing much. :/
Only time will tell, Didi Hamann.
ReplyDeleteYou have to play for Man Utd to break into the England team that quickly...
ReplyDeleteI think Henderson will make the squad. There is probably 22 or 25 players that will go which would mean at least 8 midfield players in the squad. Know looking at the age of the likes of Barry, Lamps, Gerard, I think some young blood will be taken, even if its only to get the experience of being at a major tournament with the world cup to follow in two years time. which you would expect henderson to be involved in, if his progress goes well.
ReplyDeleteHenderson needs to be pushing Lucas for a place in the CM, we shouldn't be playing a defensive midfielder in home games and certain away games anyway. Henderson has a great future ahead of him but it won't materialise if he's sitting on the bench or being played out of position.
ReplyDeleteLucas does a job and is needed in the real tough away games, but at home is he really necessary? With Agger in the centre we have an excellent Hansenesque player who can provide the link between the defence and the midfield.
ReplyDeleteslagging henderson, slagging lucas, what is wrong with you so called supporters, you obviously never played the game and with those comments it`s evident you know nothing whatsoever about football, liverpool fans are famous for their knowledge and appreciation of the game and also their undivided support through thick and thin for anyone wearing the shirt, I`d love to hear you voicing your complete and utter nonsense comments on the kop, (if you`ve ever been) you`d soon be put straight you muppets, call yourself liverpool fans, pfft, you should hang your heads in shame................ btw mr kanwar have you made the donation that you promised the hillsborough campaign yet?
ReplyDeleteAnother Kwality article Jamie, you just get better and better with each one you write. This wild claim you state in your articles title is no more wild than what you write on a daily basis. Didi and Digger know more about football than you do........... so why not take him to the euro's if his form improves.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, we do not need Lucas at Home. Would only play Lucas away.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally agree with Chica. Hendo showed brilliant glimpses of natural talent, especially as an impact substite. He has all the football skills required to be one for the future. I feel that most of fans share my views about the lad and that make me feel comfortable. Meanwhile, I believe that Hendo is more effective in a centre of the park, where He plays for England U-21. Yesterday He drove into Chelsea's back line with a magnificent control: no dobut the guys has talent.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the claim is a 'wild' at all ! The lad has class and I think he stands a good chance of being named in the squad if his U21 performances are anything to go by. Good luck to him. Some international appearances will only stand him in good stead for when we get back into Europe.

ReplyDeletemuppit, didnt you watch the chelsea win? or you just watch champs league finals? totally brainless comment
ReplyDeleteaint that the truth
ReplyDeleteWhy is the comment "wild"?
ReplyDeleteBecause you don't agree with it?
lucas yes henderson no no no no
ReplyDeleteWell done Jaimie. Nice of you to be supporting your team's player.
ReplyDeletegood posts guys. Clearly a talent, if a little young [and expensive!].
ReplyDeleteI think playing on the right kind of as a Kuyt understudy, will be very good education for him at this age because it's not his natural position.
For him to beable to play either the more central midfield role or the Kuyt type role on the right will be a huge bonus for the club. Adam and Luca@v
can't really play anywhere else where as Hendo has the talent/mobility to play either role.
I also agree that he's been a bit anxious this season, moved away from home, a young 1 club player, big club etc, though I do wish he was a little more fearless, that's the ony thing that concerns me.
But he's 21, he'll be fine, and I think he'll score more than Wilshere does from the centre.
The likes of Wilshere and Phil Jones are freaks - you simply don't expect that kind of maturity at that age normally.
It's an interesting view. I would be intrigued to see what would happen say with a Hendo there at Anfield instead of Lucas.
ReplyDeleteBut a) we keep making a meal of home games. b) He has real discipline in holding the line and not wandering off going awol. We do get over run when other teams play 3 in MF and/or very mobile midfielders (Swansea/Chelski/Spurs) but it would be pretty catastrophic without him there at all. We've still not conceded more than 1 since Spurs.
LUCAS is our only reliable holding midfieder.i personally think hes brilliant at what he does, get off his back once and for all.
ReplyDeleteHenderson needs to start games in the middle. Hope Kenny gives him a chance against lesser teams. He hasn't a clue on the right. Being a young players its hard to improve when you playing out of position. As for Carroll, I don't see any potential. He has a very similar physique to Ibrahimovich but he doesn't possess 1% of his skills which has nothing to do with age or experience. We need a striker that will adapt to Liverpool and not the other way round.
ReplyDeleteremember did tipped Gerhard to be a top player
