It's bad news again for Andy Carroll - the £35m man is on the bench yet again for the visit of Norwich City.
Full line-up:
Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Downing, Gerrard, Adam, Bellamy, Kuyt, Suarez
Subs: Doni, Agger, Carroll, Maxi, Spearing, Henderson, Flanagan.
It's great to see Bellamy starting, and it will be interesting to see how the team lines up. I imagine it will be something like this:
------------------- Reina
Johnson -- Carragher -- Skrtel -- Enrique
------------ Gerrard -- Adam
Kuyt -------- Bellamy ------- Downing
-------------- Suarez
Kuyt, Bellamy and Downing will probably change positions regularly throughout the match. Another possible formation:
------------------- Reina
Johnson -- Carragher -- Skrtel -- Enrique
Downing --- Gerrard -- Adam ---- Bellamy
-------------- Kuyt -- Suarez
Again, with Bellamy and Downing swapping positions every now and again.
The line-up really is a vote of no confidence in Andy Carroll; if he's not going to start games against the minnows of the Premier League, then it doesn't bode well for the future, or for his confidence and motivation.

woouuw really surprised bellamy starting... hope he does well
ReplyDeleteConfirmed side now. VERY attacking line up.
ReplyDeleteFor all my doubts about Kenny's buys you've got to hand it to him. He wont play you simply because you cost £35 million or £20 million. At the very least he expects a shift which Carroll unforgivably hasn't been putting in. I don't think it necessarily requires a player to be in form to win a header, at the moment Carroll can't even do that.
ReplyDeletebest line-up we could have. i like seeing downing on the right and bellamy on the left where he plays best. suarez is simply unplayable so far but he needs to find his last touch.
ReplyDeleteWatching the game it's incredible how the commentators keep mentioning Suarez's diving. One Word from Fergie holds far too much weight....Rafa didn't stand a chance.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he dives, he however does fall to ground rather too easily. Note: this usually occurs when the ball is played up to him and his back is facing the defender, he leans into the defender and any contact he drops to the floor. As Lverpool supporters if you've failed to observe this in games then you're in denial.
ReplyDeleteI don't rate Suarez as highly as majority Liverpool fans do. For two reasons- a) He can't finish and b) he loses the ball too often, what I mean by this is instead of looking to play a simple pass, Suarez will attempt to do everything when he gets the ball- take the player on and shoot. Majority of the time his ambitious moves don't come off. He needs to learn to cut out the fancy tricks and be direct. Liverpool 1-1 Norwich. As a liverpool supporter I'm writing this season off. We won't get 4th spot, Spurs will. Simple reason we can't kill off teams and other than Stevie G we don't have players who can convert chances.
I agree with some of that. Suarez was only a team player LAST SEASON. This season its all about him. I win the pen, I want to take it. I get into a good position with someone else in a better position, I've earned the right to shoot. He does cause havoc but like downing if there is no end product he's not doing his job as effectively as he could be. He needs to start being a little more generous in the final third.
ReplyDeleteThe favourite line-up of pundits & bloggers, with Bellamy & Suarez up front, Carroll & Hendo on the bench, it showed a miserable football and a poor performance. I suppose that now The boss will be anyway the only responsible of the end of the universe....
