This season, Kenny Dalglish has repeatedly made the point that Liverpool 'has a squad, not a team', and in his weekly pre-match press conference, he dismissed the notion that the club was moving towards a 'settled' starting eleven.
Dalglish is clearly keen to create and maintain positive competition in the squad:
"I wouldn’t say the starting eleven is settled, and I don’t think the competition is going to die off either.
"I don’t think there’s anybody here who’s not competing for a first team spot, and that’s great for us.
It's a nice ideal, but it remains to be seen whether he can keep an entire squad happy for the whole season.

Well if players like Adams and Henderson are not gonna be happy to be at the club as squad players....because at best that's all they are....kenny is going to have serious problems

ReplyDeleteThe issue is who should be in the starting 11. If you judge it purely by form neither of Adam or Henderson should be starting ahead of others. Most people believe that Henderson HAS a future at LFC but at the moment he is not starting 11 material. 95% of fans can see have come out and said the Kuyt or Bellamy should be starting ahead of Henderson. Even former legends have expressed their concern for Daglish's persistence with starting Henderson. So my question to you is WHAT has Henderson or Adam shown in the past few matches to warrant there inclusion on the starting 11.

ReplyDeleteI have said before that Bellamy should be given a run on the RW. I have also said that Henderson should be used as a sub as the pressure is way too much to be starting matches this early on and our fans are not helping the situation either. Kuyt should be playing upfront, that is where he scores goals. When it comes to keeping the ball or running passed defenders Kuyt is severly lacking. Bellamy with his pace and attack minded approach could just be the answer to the problem we have seen down the right of midfield so far this season.
It is also mindboggling that Johnson has not been used down the right wing? Kelly at RB and Johnson ahead of him would be an absolute pleasure to watch. You would have a RB that can defend and get forward and Johnson would be able to show off what he is good at by running at the oppositions defence, getting in crosses and possibly scoring goals himself too. Kelly is the perfect fit for RB and has done extremely well seeing that he does not have that much experience and he is only going to get better. One thing is clear, Kelly is a much better defender than Johnson and GJ could find himself in a predicament starting in our defence when he is fit again. It would make sense to use the quality's he posseses as an attacking player further upfield.
If you are so clever ..what does Henderson offer and especially for a bargain price of 20million ....even u could run on the pitch like a headless chicken for 90mins...and don't give a clever answer like. .he passes the ball

ReplyDeleteI don't rate them...to me Carra is past his best and it has showed over the last two seasons ...The 20million spent on Henderson could have got us Cahill from Bolton and some change left over...we will play all season with Henderson not contributing anything major and the defense will continue leaking goals.

What does Henderson do??if he's an attacking player then how many goals or assists has he done this season...by your own admission he doesn't defend. so give examples or at least 1
ReplyDeleteOnce again , this is not Fifa 12. How much experience has GJ had playing on the right wing? How many times have you seen him do it successfully? I agree he might show some traits of a RW but so do many players. Kelly is strong, quick and crosses a good ball, why not make him a winger? It's not as simple as you make out. When GJ is fit he will come straight back into the side because he is a good RWB (in the opinion of Rafa Benitez, Dalglish and Capello) Everyone is against playing people out of pos, so why the obsession from everyone about GJ at RW.

ReplyDeleteMy take on this is that Henderson can be moulded by King Kenny into a position that we need if that is down the right or in the middle of the park i am sure he has enough time and potential on his side to make either position his own in time.
Should he be part of the first 11 not sure but i am sure that the staff at lfc see more than we do so he might be just a player that trains really well but is struggling to take this onto the pitch come matchday i am sure he will come good but it is going to take us as supporters to help him and support him to make this happen.
I think that we have had in the past some great players with potential but because we have expected to much too soon they have lost confidence in there own ability please,please lets not let this happen to Jordan.

He properly runs with the ball, He's comfortably with the Ball, He has vision and in add to that, He has a superb shoot from distance.
TOday, in Merseyside derby, He deserved to score another time with a superb strike, after He clinched the spot against Wolves one week ago.
What this the source of these unsleeping anti Adam's agenda?
Charlie is superb as Hendo as the talent to become a great Anfield Player: the task for Kenny is keeping away the pressure from the guy, because the media pressure is insane as some so called fans never did anything to help the Lad.

ReplyDeleteBtw Mali, you may not have realised this, but passing the ball is actually pretty important in football. Henderson moves the ball quickly and effectively and has the pace (though not the power, which isn't too surprising at his age) to drive forwards from deep, which bodes well for a role as a CM in a good pass and move team.
Pretty funny that in one sentence you say, "no one owes you a detailed explanation" and in the very next sentence then say, "please explain in detail".

ReplyDeleteGood points, Jay. I hate the way that players are excused from responsibility for their non-performance last season just because Hodgson was in charge. They clearly didn't play for him, and they should be ashamed of that. Whoever is in charge, they should play for the club first.
