Confirmed: 'Unbelievable' Liverpool midfielder suffers 'knee' injury; €21m star out of Plymouth game

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed yet another injury ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup clash with Plymouth Argyle.

During his pre-match press conference today, Klopp admitted:

"Lucas's knee was swollen and that’s never a good sign. You have to wait until the swelling is away and wait for if something is coming back and all that stuff. We will try to push it as hard as we can.”

With Nathaniel Clyne also suffering from a rib-related injury, that means Liverpool will be without Matip, Mane, Clyne, and Lucas for tomorrow's game, plus - in the case of Lucas and Clyne - possibly the Swansea game at the weekend.

Klopp also provided another update on the Matip situation, and insisted that he is sure that the club did 'nothing wrong'. He further added:

"We have no guarantee that he could play for us. I would consider to line him up tomorrow, but I don’t know if I can. We cannot do more, obviously, and that’s really hard. As a human being, it’s unbelievably hard for me.”

Urgh. 'As a human being, it’s unbelievably hard for me'. Jeez, cry me a river. Klopp makes it sound like he's in a life or death situation and/or in the midst of some humanitarian crisis, but all we're talking about here is the absence of a friggin' footballer.

Klopp needs to get a grip, and stop acting like the world is ending. There's nothing 'unbelievably hard' about losing Matip, and if - despite a squad of highly paid players - he can't handle it, then he's not doing his job properly.
