Klopp to Sign? Liverpool Reps fly out to watch 'excellent' €25m attacker with 98 goals and assists in 142 apps

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for one of Serie A's rising stars.

According to Italian newspaper Gazetta di Modena:

* Liverpool are keen to sign Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi.

* The Reds have sent scouts to watch the 'excellent' striker.

Liverpool were linked with Berardi last season, and at the time, the Liverpool Echo claimed:

"Klopp's number one target...is Sassuolo starlet Domenico Berardi [who] is said to be one of the most exciting young stars in Italy".

Some info about Berardi, who according to Sassuolo, is worth €25m:

* Versatile 6'1 forward who can play on both wings; as a lone striker, or a second striker.

* Sassuolo: 98 goals/assists in 142 games (One every 106 mins)

* This season: 11 goals/assists in 8 games (One every 52 mins). Out injured for 4.5 months with a knee injury (missed 24 games).

* Berardi's agent on the 22-year old's best position: "He's a winger. 4-3-3 best unlocks his power and potential. He has so much technical quality and the ability to play well in any position".

* 2013: Banned from international football for 9 months after failing to report to an U19 training camp.

* Arrigo Sacchi's view: "Berardi is a player of great talent who has liveliness, intuition, temperament and strength combined with good technique."

* Jan 2014: Scored all four goals in a 4-3 victory over AC Milan.

The Reds clearly need wingers, so if this is true, it means that Klopp is zeroing in on one of the club's main transfer priorities. Granted, Liverpool have a poor history with Italian players, but that has to change sometime...right?

Unrelated, but never gets old :-)
