Klopp Confirms: Liverpool 'close' to signing 'excellent' midfielder; 'Press conference' in a 'few hours'

Over the weekend, 'excellent' Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic seemingly confirmed that he is all set for a move to Liverpool, and Jurgen Klopp has now basically confirmed that the €7m deal is definitely happening.

On Sunday, Grujic posted the following message on his official Facebook account:

"On the 4th January I will become a Liverpool player".

During his pre-Stoke press conference today, Klopp was asked the following question:

"One signing you are close to is [Marko] Grujic. Is that progressing?"

Klopp's response:

"Yes, but I don't want to talk about that. We have to wait till the next press conference, which is only a few hours away".

Klopp has basically confirmed the deal is happening (he doesn't refute the Journo's contention that Liverpool are 'close' to signing Grujic).

He also refers to a press conference in 'a few hours', which suggests that Liverpool will be announcing the deal some time today. The Reds don't hold press conferences to announce that a deal failed, so there's only one conclusion to be drawn.

There are also some tenuous rumours floating around that Liverpool will keep Grujic instead of loaning him out, but this seems doubtful given the player's repeated assertion that he wants to help RSB qualify for the Champions League.

Plus, if Liverpool's situation is so dire that Klopp needs to bring a 19-year old (with no Premier League experience) straight into the team to save the Reds's season, then things at Anfield are far worse than they appear.
