Bad News: Klopp confirms 'amazing' £18m Liverpool star is injured again and 'couldn't train' today.

Another day, another injury for perennial sicknote Daniel Sturridge, who will not be available for Liverpool's games this week after sustaining yet another injury issue.

On Boxing Day, £18m-rated Sturridge tweeted out the latest in a long line of hard-to-believe claims:

"Back training and good to go!”

Unsurprisingly, Sturridge wasn't deemed fit enough to play over the Christmas period, and when asked today about the striker's latest attempt at rehabilitation, Klopp told reporters:

"Daniel had some more problems this week. Not serious, but he couldn’t train. He didn't have session with the team. Some little things happened. It is how a pre-season can be, and we have to handle this".

Sturridge is an 'amazing' goalscorer, but I honestly don't believe he has the mental strength to overcome his injury problems.

After so many issues, when Sturridge actually plays again, he'll (probably) be so worried about sustaining another injury (and/or his ability to retain fitness), that it'll affect his game.

It's a vicious circle, and could ultimately end being a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Sturridge is, after all, only human, and it takes immense mental strength to play your natural game whilst blocking out the constant worry of sustaining another injury. A paragon of physical fitness like Luis Suarez could (probably) do it, but Sturridge? No chance (IMO).

Sturridge is 26 now, and after being ravaged by so many injuries, I'd be surprised to see him play 50 full games for the rest of his career.
