Luis Suarez stabs Liverpool FC in the back once again...

How many times in one year can Luis Suarez bite the hand that feeds him? The striker's behaviour over the last year has regularly bought the club into disrepute, and only hours after Kenny Dalglish was sacked, the Uruguayan crassly admitted in public that he 'dreams' of playing in La Liga.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca, Suarez - who recently stated that he would happily cheat if it meant Liverpool gained an advantage - said:

"I hope to play in Spain in the future because I think together with the English and Italian it [La Liga] is the best league in the world and any player would dream of playing in it"

Was it really wise for Suarez to say things like this on such a momentous day for the club? Would it have hurt him to stay silent on his future for a few days? After all the support Liverpool FC has given him, should he really be professing his love for other leagues in public?

Clearly, Suarez has no feeling for the man who put his career and reputation on the line to defend him during the Patrice Evra debacle, but this was obvious months ago.

Given the precarious situation at Liverpool right now, Suarez's comments will undoubtedly alert La Liga's top clubs, and the likes Barcelona and Real Madrid will now feel that they have a good chance of poaching the striker.

Liverpool fans might as well face it: Suarez is on the outs at Liverpool, and he will be gone sooner rather than later.

A few weeks ago, I argued that Suarez should be sacked or sold for this statement he gave to The S*n:

"The sacrifice I made [against Ghana] was because it was so important for Uruguay to make the semi-finals. I want to win this semi-final. If I am obliged to stop a ball in the last minute and we win, then I will repeat the action. Success for Liverpool is more important to me than anything else. But I do hope there is no drama like this for me."

My feelings haven't changed: the sooner Suarez follows Kenny Dalglish out of Anfield, the better.

EDIT: Predictably, Suarez's disciples refuse to accept that the interview was conducted on the same day as Dalglish's sacking. Well, here is the proof:

Luis Suarez Interview

As you can see:

* 15th May: Suarez says he'll answer questions tomorrow (i.e. 16th May)
* 16th May: Suarez says 'I'm going to answer your Tweets right now'
* @MarcainEnglish = Marca's twitter feed.
* The interview was conducted by Marca.
* The Marca interview was published at 7.51pm yesterday:
* Ergo, Suarez did the interview on the 16th May, the day of Dalglish's sacking.

I'm sure now I'll be accused of photoshopping the timestamps on Suarez's Twitter feed :-)

  1. If you see that it can be taken that way - then please at least modify it, if you are not willing to take down the article.

By the way I have posted additional questions asked in that interview that pretty much invalidate this whole article. Would like to see that post go through.

  2. Erm, Whats your point here Jackie ?

  3. This is your final warning: stop sniping about pointless stuff or you will be banned.

  4. Funny thing is, the interview was "posted" after Kenny's departure, but the interview started prior to the news breaking about his departure. Something tells me he may well not have known about it until after this tweet session. So what if he did, he was obviously asked the question, so he answered. His employers are FSG, not Kenny! While he is a Liverpool player, I will support him, as he is a great player. Its a job to players (aside very very few these days), they will earn their money where they want, they are in control, not the clubs!

  5. source: http://www.diariolarepublica.net/2012/05/luis-suarez-respondio-internautas/

He makes a clear statement here that he "can't be listening to all the rumours"  about other club interests making a bid for him, that he is happy at LFC, he praises other La Liga and Serie A equally with the PL.

Avoid google translate... ask me if you need correct translations - google translate screws the true meaning up of just about every expression. Which leads to more bad translation, mis-interpreted frenzy-churnalism

KENNY thank you very much for all your help and things I learned from you during 1 year and a half.

Now why don't you see such good things and write an article on that rather than picking some Spanish tabloid talking rubbish. Anyways Suarez is the only player who came up with consoling/respecting words for Kenny. And your good mate Charlie Adam is tweeting rubbish at the same time. Grow up Kanwar. Learn to distinguish good from the bad.

  7. 'jackie' - absolutely hilarious(!)

  8. Who knows, who knows. Its not definitive either way, so JK has got some room to play in, in relation to assuming whether Suarez knew or not.

    ReplyDelete
  9. never mind, it happens to all of us, sometime or another.

  10. Simeon - The decision was announced at around 4pm UK time; Suarez was doing his interview from 3pm onwards (according to his twitter account); do you really believe that Suarez and the rest of the players found out about Dalglish's departure via the media?! Come on, let's get real here.

As a comparison: Alex McLeish's sacking was announced by the BBC at 3.30pm on Monday. Prior to that announcement, The Chairman had a meeting with the players and staff on Monday morning to inform them of the decision.

Why would LFC be any different? This is standard practice, and it's reasonable to assume that Suarez had known about KD's sacking for at least a few hours before his interview.

  11. I've got to be honest here JK                                    (see I've even made you sound like a Rock Star) I didn't
get get this site at first but once the penny had dropped I began to like it, I find it particularly amusing how upset some of the fans get over comments, also some very interesting factual comments written from some intelligent fans.I particularly like it when they take the bait though which I think you should encourage more of, and I think a lot of the fans should develop a better sense of humor, being a Liverpool fan this season we have needed it.

the king is dead long live the king.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Never said Suarez found out from the media. In any case, I feel that if a person wants to make disparaging remarks about another individual, it's prudent to be certain of all the facts rather than making assumptions, however reasonable. That's why I thought that maybe you had insider information.

Furthermore, it was a pre-arranged interview. Let's say Suarez knew. If he's asked a question should he decline to answer it?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well Sek he is 34 you know,.....and in football terms that's bus pass city............................ now wer did I put that axe ?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sorry if someone has mentioned it before, but Suarez did thank Daglish for everything he has done for him via twitter. Why is that not mentioned in the article?

    ReplyDelete
  15. why does anybody read this bullshite from this man u twat !! calling all liverpool fans to email news now for this website to be moved away news now just pure shite on it

  16. Jimmy Carr live on Liverpool kop eh,

  17. Do you think that it was fair that Madrid got fined for player's deliberately getting red cards last season to make them miss games?

If you look at the word cheating, it has nothing to do with whether you get caught or not. If your girlfriend comes home and finds you attending to her sister, do you tell her that you are not cheating because she caught you? Or if you decided to do it in front of her, would you say that you were not cheating because you didn't try to hide it? Cheating is the act, not the consequence. I would hope that deliberate and blatant handball is cheating, otherwise why give a penalty and a red card, ffs!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Like i said to him, next time you get home and find your missus with another fella, hope she tries to tell you that she is not cheating cos she left the bedroom door open. Then you will understand how irrelevent it, whether it is blatant or not, is.

    ReplyDelete
  19. means that you are a cheat!

    ReplyDelete
  20. How did he stab lfc in the back

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nearly everyone on here is woshipping him and it is embarrassing. I remember everyone worshipping Torres but then remember the home game against Chelsea recently. That kind of turnaround should be an embarrassment to supporters. Irrational fits of rage and anger.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Then they are cheats also.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Because handball is cheating when it is deliberate.

    ReplyDelete
  24. camaraderie that was clearly showing on the pitch and in the results. The joy the players had playing together. Especially when negrito came up the right wing and played Luis in.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You are referring to the comments of Royston Drenthe, who no Liverpool supporter who believes Suarez would ever listen to or believe, unless his words backed up their delusional paranoia. Never saw Messi pinching people's skin or grabbing their head. Never. Saw him in a Shakira video about Africa, though.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Totally agree. I think doing so would be embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Such a Stupid Article...He didnt cheat against Ghana it was his right. He knew the Consequences and He did it, it was a very smart decision that led to Victory. How Ridiculous it is to think otherwise

    ReplyDelete
  28. I see Mr Positive's back! Hasn't the last 20 years of Sky Sports told you one thing? That the media twist peoples words to get the meaning they want out of them! Suraez said in the future- that could be 10 years from now! Either way- you're not gonna get Benitez back! We need to go for someone fresh and exciting instead of continuously looking back!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got three man u friends that be on this site am sure there are others.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sell him for 40 million, i reckon. He may find his scoring boots elsewhere, but it is understandable if he wants to play for a better team in a league where spanish is the first language. If that is Real Madrid, get an offer for Higuain in and a couple of squad players.

Didn't Benitez have an option to pick up two of Sneijder, Van Der Vaart or Robben from Madrid, when they wanted Alonso, and turned it down? That sums him up and explains why he should not come back. One is a champions league winner, the other is likely to be a champions league winner this weekend and the third will be playing champions league football next season in all likelihood.

    ReplyDelete
  31. And while they are at it, sell Reina, preferably to Barcelona, and see who we can get in return and use the spare cash to replace him with Hoilett and Robinson from Blackburn.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes he admitted all those things, that is the behaviour and nature of football today. Nothing will change, the authorities could have done  many things to irradicate poor sportsmanship, cheating, etc. They haven't done antything and never will. It is a case, I'm afraid, of like it or lump it. If Suarez wants to express his true thoughts, right or wrong, right time or wrong time, fine, don't let it get to you. If that  is the worst issue that winds you up, you are either very lucky or very sad. There are worse things to get mad about.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jamie you are a just one of those guys who really could not play the game and you have very little experience in all of things going on in football, you write about something you will never understand, when you write you sound very intelligent but if someone really reads your comments, then it becomes so clear, that you have very little experience in football.
You write about the LFC way and morals about not cheating and i wouldn't do it even if my teamates wanted me of the team blah blah blah you sit on your pedastool passing judgement on a person you do not know, yet you want to talk about morals.
You use headlines with peoples comments taken out of context, to gain more hits on this site becuse you know how passionate the Liverpool fans are and you know you will get a bite, but you want to condem those that try to find an edge in the modern day game you sir are a hypocrite.
The whole world is moving that quickly that if you can not keep up then you get left behind, you see these footballers have no choice they have to keep up because that's their bread and butter for their families, now i totally understand that you probably don't have much else going on for you so you needed the edge and you found one, the loyal fans of LFC.
Now before you say anything i have played football in a foreign country and i to know how hard it can be, you see you think it is easy, play football thats it, well no thats not just it you need to learn part of that culture, you need to learn the language, you need to adapt to that lifestyle
(if you have a family than it becomes a burden on them) you need to learn about your surroundings, you need to be aware of what you can do and what you can't do and what you can say and what you can't say.
Just to finish do not forget then theres the football what people expect from you, what you have to change in your playing style to suite what they have in mind, making friends, getting the trust from your teammates and the club, not to mention putting on the field week in week out.
So basically what i am saying is some of these guys are payed megabucks  to produce, but lets be a little less critical about the ones who really do try hard week in week out and think before you say that someone has disgraced us because he one day would like to play in the Spanish league, maybe they are better suited to his background and where he wants to be is that so bad really?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jamie! Pot kettle ring a bell, youv'e stabbed Liverpool in the back numerous times with some of your articles, I even doubt at times that your actually a Liverpool fan.

  35. Forced Kenny to apologize ? ERM I DONT THINK SO CHIB.

You have just made that up, seriously you have.

    (1) GIVE US the Sources and dates of this so called apology you claim he made so we can validate it and come back to you, I BET YOU CAN'T

    (2) Even Rooney has grown up eh, so can you explain to me the reason he is  banned for the first 2 games in the Euro's then ?

do you think it may have had something to do with him BOOTING with intent an opposing player in the last England match.

    (3) You claim not many people know that he was banned for biting another players ear, what a laugh, unless you have been on one of Richard Branstons space flights you will find that most people know this.

As JK says make sure of your facts before commenting as just because you say it doesn't mean we believe you, especially spurious sweeping statements like yours that need to be challenged.

I await you response Chib,................ but I have a strong feeling that its the last we will hear from you

  36. Can you just specify which 'Robinson' you are talking about? I'm not bothered enough with regards to Blackburn, to know all the players in their squad. The only one I know, is the ageing, spent force, probably will never play top flight football again, Paul Robinson!?!? Can you just confirm whether you are having a laugh, assuming it is Paul you are talking about.

Mark Hughes is a good man , who i believe has great managerial skills. I would like his as a possible candidate because he has been around in management for a long time and has experience and a take on the mordern game. I think he did a good job at City and has done well at QPR. Mark Hughes would be a great choice . He is a proven professional and would be good for Liverpool. Let's get him. The hell with Souness

Mainly about 'standard practice' anyway. What is that???

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jaime, your bang out order and incorrect.. If you'd done your homework you would have realised that luis suarez never done that twitter interview yesterday on twitter and your exerpt was pre sacking of daglish. Now I know that so how can you call yourself a journalist, and wtf s a your agenda???

    ReplyDelete
  59. We were happy that he wasn't 100 % loyal when he was leaving Ajax to join Liverpool and his determination to go was key in getting him for relatively small fee if you consider money spent on others.

Now we mind him wanting another challenge sometimes in the future.
Can we really be so hypocritical?

He never said he wants to go, I don't think he can consider his time in England as a success.
But he has 8 more years of quality football ahead of him and if in 3 to 4 years he decides to go I wouldn't mind him leaving us for Spain, especially if it brings in decent transfer founds.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Did Phil Neville make a statement similar to this after the Lucas incident:

"The Hand of God now belongs to me. Mine is the real Hand Of God. I made the best save of the tournament. Sometimes in training I play as a goalkeeper so it was worth it"

That exacerbates the seriousness of the Suarez incident.

Overall, the Neville incident is irrelevant to the question of whether Suarez deliberately cheated in the world cup quarter final. One incident has nothing to do with the other.

In my view, Neville also cheated. The problem here is that Liverpool fans always try and excuse the behaviour of LFC players by instantly referring to something another player did.  It's typical avoidance - so what if X, Y and Z did the same as Suarez - does that make what he did somehow excusable?

Take the James Perch incident against Reina recently: he went down clutching his face as if he'd been punched, but there was no contact.  That is cheating.  If I raise that issue, is it then a legitimate argument for someone to say 'Yes, but Rivaldo did the same in the World Cup against Turkey!'

What does one have to do with the other?

  91.

Granted, Suarez is complex and controversial. Uruguay coach
Oscar Tabárez commented about Suarez’s particularly style of play, how he takes
on players and loses many balls. The
fans used to boo him when he started playing as a youngster for Uruguay’s
Nacional. That was before he became the best Uruguay player in 20 years. He is
also complex and controversial off the field and challenging. However, his life
story would make a great book or movie including his love story with his
    teenage sweetheart.

Suarez is uncompromising. He will do anything for his team
to win. He would sacrifice himself for the team by stopping a ball on the line
with his hand. The worst insult you can throw at a Uruguayan player is to call
him “pecho frio” (literally “cold chest” or rather cold fish). The greatest
honour is to play for “la celeste” and if you are so honoured, you will be uncompromising
    in you approach.

Suarez must work far away from Uruguay. He will stay in
Liverpool for a while, maybe then he will go to Spain. Enjoy him while you have
him. We enjoy you enjoying him. But his heart is always  with “la celeste”. He is ours.

  92. Jamie just so anti- All things LFC, Suarez is our best player, why not pick on all the shite players who didn't give nothing to our club over an entire season resulting in Kenny getting the sack... Rather than the one person who bust a gut and performed in every game he played?
Oh and ur article actually says he holds the Spanish, Italian and English Leagues in the same high esteem.
Not to mention that interview was probably arranged time ago, is it his fault he's not a clairvoyant and couldn't foresee Kenny getting sacked?
And at least he answers questions honestly, why would u want him to lie or deflect any question asked of him?
Anti Benitez, Anti Suarez, it's soooo boring... Why criticise people that gave/give their all?
Any top footballer would want to play in Spain, if somebody asked u would u like to win the lottery? Of course u would say YES but that doesn't mean u are going to!
And if ur argument is he should have been more sensitive given recent events, then ur being hypocritical by writing this negative article and all the other negativity u constantly seem to try and stoke up.

  95. We can worship him if we like. You don't have to. We get it. But do you have to constantly besmirch him and clog up sites like newsnow with your constant drivel? Can you not blog positive articles for a change instead of the usual negative rubbish? If you look closely I think you'll find I'm not the only one saying this.

  97. Suarez IMO is a very clever fella, he will say or do anything to get what he wants....

I found it very interesting that he said he would leave if Kenny does...the reason being that i didn't see much support for Kenny ON THE PITCH.....

Seemed to contradict himself somewhat there, also it was said by Hansen that Reina etc might leave if Kenny does... but again i didn't see much support on the pitch for Kenny from Reina...

Its going to be a VERY interesting few weeks...

He has stated before that if KK leaves he will do the same.
You can't describe him as biting the hand that's feeding him!

  106. What do you mean what does one have to do with another? It has everything to do with the other! If Perch's feigning injury to the face in the absence of actual contact is considered cheating, then Rivaldo's is aswell. I don't think any sane minded football fan would argue 'its ok cos he dun it'. The Suarez incident has everything to do with Nevilles because its the same freaking thing!
Suarez's goal about the hand of god, good on him. If you just made a split second decision, sacrificed your chance of being in the world cup so that there is a slim chance that the rest of your team, your country can go on, and it actually worked somehow, you'd be extatic! Post something positive for a change.

    "
"I hope to do so in future because I believe that alongside the English and Italian leagues it is the best in the world. Any player would dream of playing in them,” Suarez told Marca.
"If you take notice of all the rumours you read in the papers, you go crazy. My head is very relaxed, I have a contract with Liverpool and I am very happy."
"Obviously playing the Champions League the year after next and next season, there is a good opportunity to win the Europa League,” he continued.
"It would be a dream at a club like Liverpool, who haven't achieved that for some time. To fight for the Premier League again would be something very special."
"The stadium and the fans are what have impressed me most because of the euphoria there is, however the team is doing. The fans have backed us all the way and with all the affection they give you, it makes you feel really good on the pitch."

  125. This article is embarrassing. Hardly a traitor. Did he say "I hate the fans and the club and I'm leaving in the summer to join Utd"?
In the same interview he said that he was happy to stay at Liverpool. If you quoted more from the interview instead of selecting quotes to suit your own agenda, you would've seen him saying this. He basically said that it would one day be great to play in Spain, but for now he's 100% with Liverpool. So what, he said he would like to play in Spain some day? He's South America, a lot of players from there like to play in Spain, it's natural. But he did not say he is leaving next season or in 2 years. He was probably saying when he is 30 odd. If a player isn't born and bred a fan of a club, then you really shouldn't expect him to be at the club forever, for the duration of the contract great, anything further is a bonus. Also, he was very optimistic about Liverpool and has even said this in either the same interview or later:

"Being honest, I have never talked to anyone from Barca or Real Madrid. If the rumours are to be believed I would have already played for 20 teams."Liverpool have had a good season and we got to two cup finals. In the Premier League we did not finish as high as expected, but positive things have been taken."Liverpool is a 10/10 club for the support they give the players. I am very grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to play in the Premiership," he concluded.

    WHAT A TRAITOR!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  126. YEA WHAT A DISGUSTING TRAITOR SUAREZ IS!!! Sigh, Jaimie I just don't get it geezer, don't know what is soooo outlandish here.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Shelvey??? Why are you have a go at him? He's been one of the brighter sparks. His goal against Chelsea was expertly taken and has provided energy and purpose in the midfield. Shelvey is very young and has shown glimpses of his talent. Of course he's not the finished article, but has bags of potential. Seriously, do you even watch football? Downing, Spearing and Adam can go, but definitely keep Shelvey and give Henderson another season. No point selling Henderson now, no resale value and another season in the prem may give him confidence (he can't get worse), and if he doesn't work out, then sell.

    ReplyDelete
  128. You can't have it both ways. You do extensive articles with oodles of stats and quotes to back up your arguments, yet when you fall below your standards by purposely ignoring key quotes to justify your Suarez vendetta and someone pulls you up on it you get ridiculously touchy and defensive. Your articles are on the web and are prominent on NewsNow, so you get a lot of hits. So, if people honestly correct you on something you should not be calling people "bitches".

I'm not a massive Suarez fan due to the Evra issue but I do appreciate his brilliance and I think that you have every write to do critical articles. However, it must be fair and balanced. If you are going to do critical articles you must be prepared for a lot of opposition. And if you do not produce a balanced argument you will get people pointing out any inaccuracies.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'm not worshipping Suarez, but if Jaimie is going to do such a provocative article labelling him as a traitor then he should be fair and not just select a few quotes to try to make him look bad (even though the quotes he selected weren't even that bad). If you read the whole article it's actually more reassuring than anything as he states his commitment and desire to play for Liverpool. He said he wants to play in Spain SOME DAY, that could be 5/6 years from now. He doesn't say he's leaving next season. I did not agree with Suarez on Evragate but fair is fair. There's plenty to have a go at Suarez for, but being a traitor is not one.

  133. Ello Carroll9, I totally agree with you Shelvey looks a better prospect to replace SG than Henderson, and I even agree with you over Henderson (Kenny's Love child) ALTHOUGH they were Defo not ready last season to play for the Reds.
Before you spat your Dummy out you will note from my post's that I say he Should be sent back out on loan  and if it was not for injuries at LFC he would have stayed at Blackpool, AS, KD sent him there in the first place not me ! ( so your Silly, Seriously, comment holds no water, but I'll let you off this time but for now you will have to go to the back of the class ok).Shelvey  need's to be playing every week to get that valuable experience, hopefully to a prem club for a season when Lucas comes back and probably the same for Spearing, at least then we will be able to see the whites of there eyes on a regular basis.

I absolutely hate slating our midfield or any player at LFC for that matter as a lot of this is not their fault ( except for Downing ) a lot of the problems with players were down to KD, for example since when has KD's love child been a better player than 15 goals a season Dirk Kuyt who's poor form was down to kenny not playing him

Like your name, Andy Carroll is a distant relative of mine.
