Agent confirms: LFC striker target is wanted by 'many European clubs'

Liverpool have recently been heavily linked with a possible move for Barcelona prodigy Cristian Tello, and now his Agent has officially confirmed that 'many' teams are interested in signing the youngster.

Speaking to portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Tello's agent Jose Maria Orobitg publicly revealed for the first time that Tello is a wanted man. He said:

"Many European clubs are interested in the boy. There have been calls from England, Portugal, from everywhere, but still nothing is clear".

Tello is out of contract at the end of the season, and his Agent also confirmed that the Spain Youth international is 'now in negotiations with Barca', which could be bad news for Liverpool, who can't really compete with what the Catalans have to offer at the moment.

Tello scored against Real Sociedad on his full La Liga debut three weeks ago, and Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has increased his first-team pitch-time over the the last month in a clear bid to entice the youngster to stay at the Nou Camp.

Even if there is interest from abroad, I can't see why Tello would want to leave the greatest footballing side on the planet. He is getting first team action, and being around the likes of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta all the time can only help him improve.

If Tello came to Liverpool, he'd probably spend most of his time warming the bench, watching Andy Carroll lumber aimlessly around the pitch.

Having said that, if Guardiola leave for Chelsea at the end of the seaosn, perhaps Tello will think differently about things, as there's no guarantee that a new manager would be as hot on youth development as Guardiola.

  1. No going to happen ...look closely at the poor squad would you come to Liverpool or go to a Champions League club ?

  2. Yes, and looking at how who play and who we sign, what flair midfielder would come to us? Who's the last flair player that we have played in midfield for any amount of time?

  3. Warm the bench?? He would wish! More likely he'd be shifted around in the reserves to make him a more 'complete' player, waste several years of his life, then be dumped to some lower league club and told he never had any talent in the first place

  4. He scored twice in the Champions League last night, so we can forget about him now!

  5. Suarez, Henderson and Shelvey are all flair players, but the Premier League hardly affords players to use their tricks very often. We seriously do not need someone like Tello as much as we do the likes of Castaignos or Jackson Martinez who are skilled at scoring goals above everything else.

  6. Henderson and Shelvey aren't flair players.
Players with skill and the confidence to attempt to use that skill are free to do so in the Premiership, just as in any other league - I remember Okocha pulling off the most audacious skills for a relegation threatened team, when the Premiership had lower standard pitches and even more physical defending allowed.

Nowadays the likes of Nani, Silva, Sturridge, Nasri, Ox-Chamberlaine and our own Suarez run with the ball all over the pitch and impose their flair on Premiership games inspite of their lack of size, in the same manner that they would do anywhere else.

The failure of more players to exhibit more flair is because of their lack of technical ability and/or confidence with the ball, not the restrictions of the Premier League
