AGGER: I wish Liverpool had signed this player...

Liverpool have lost out on many great players over the years for a variety of reasons but there is one player most fans - including Daniel Agger - would would've loved to have seen at Anfield.

Agger has been in great form for Liverpool recently, and if he could choose one player to come to Anfield, who would it? The Dane told LFC TV:

"In Denmark when I grew up, it was a really good national team, and we won the Euros in 1992.

"We had the Laudrup brothers, and a lot of good players, but I think the best ever in Denmark was Michael Laudrup.

"I think everybody looked up to him. I know he's not playing any more, but he would've been perfect for Liverpool, and I think the fans would've loved him at Anfield".

Craig Bellamy is also a big fan of Michael Laudrup, and shares Agger's view:

"My biggest regret is that the club didn't sign Michael Laudrup when they had the chance. They should've got that deal done, but they didn't"

  5. The one that bugs me was David Villa.
In 2005 Zaragoza needed to sell and Rafa tried hard to bring him in.
However the board refused to go above 7m pound as we had recently bought Cisse for 14m.
He ended up at Valencia for around 10m pound !!
Oh the folly of it all...

  6. Add Sergio Aguero to the list ,Benitez turned down the chance to sign him,he ended up at Atletico...and now is a City player.

  7. True, Rafa wanted to sign David Villa but the player himself made it clear back then he did not want to move away from Spain.

  8. Its true, his preference was to stay in Spain, but it wasn't the deal breaker.
I clearly remember Rafa was forced to break off negotiations because the board refused to meet the valuation.

  9. The problem with Aguero was that Indepeniente wanted a small fortune for him, one we could neither risk or afford at the time.
He eventually went to Atletico Madrid for a record club fee of 23m Euro.
Couldn't afford him then, and still cant afford him now.
