LFC defender: "Kenny can rely on me if he needs me to play upfront..."

Jose Enrique has been a revelation since arriving at Anfield, and he's arguably proving to be the summer's biggest bargain. One little known fact about the left back is that he started his playing career as a striker, so it comes as no surprise that his favourite player is a striker.

Enrique, who has scored only one goal in his two hundred-game career, revealed to LFC Magazine:

"I started off as a forward myself, and I wanted to be Claudio Lopez.

"I scored lots of goals for my youth teams.

"Kenny Dalglish knows he can rely on me if he ever needs me upfront!"

It would be great if Enrique could chip with a few goals right now, especially since Liverpool are struggling to score at the moment.

The Spaniard came close against Fulham recently, but Mark Schwarzer managed to save his excellent goal-bound shot.

Enrique also revealed who he feels is the best manager he's played under so far:

"Manuel Pellegrini. He's at Malaga now after a spell at Real Madrid. He's a great tactician and motivator."

Pellegrini was strongly linked with Liverpool after Rafa Benitez's departure, and by all accounts, he seems to be a well-regarded manager.

  1. So far he has been top notch in fact the 3 best players since kenny took over in jan(with the exception of suarez) have also been the cheapest Enrique, adam and bellamy. signed for a combined fee of about 15 mill or somewhere around that figure. Its the 20 mill plus bracket that we are having problems with.

  2. Yes you are right, these 4 signings are well worth their monies. The same cannot be said for the 3 Brit footballers though.

  3. Not the time to experiment all those things. We need a striker with an uncanny knack for goals, someone in the mould of Torres.

  4. As much as Kenny and commoli were against signing Darren Bent to play alongside Torres he would have been perfect alongside Suarez.  The kids business is scoring goals.

  5. Nice offer Jose, but I think we still need you in defence at the moment. If we are looking for somebody with a bit of speed an an eye for goal, why not give Nathan Eccleston a try, he couldn't do any worse than Carrol. Having watched new signing Marc Pelosi, I would even consider him in the forward line even though he wasn't intended for that position
