Confirmed Team News: 5 players out; Klopp confirms 'fantastic' £40m star 'can' play; Massive injury boost;

Liverpool face bogey team Southampton on Sunday, and here is the confirmed team news ahead of another vital Premier League clash.

Klopp's injury updates:

* Coutinho: “Phil yesterday was running for the first time. We cannot be 100% sure, but it looks positive".

* Mane: “He is doing really well, but there is no chance [for Southampton]".

* Henderson: "With Hendo, you have to wait, but it is quite difficult like this. There is nothing new".

* Ings: "Danny is is doing really well. He is enjoying training with the ball. He is on a good way.”

* Sturridge: "Sturridge is training with the team tomorrow. We can for sure use him in the squad".

* Southampton: In his pre-match press conference, Claude Puel confirmed that Charlie Austin and Virgil Van Dijk will miss Sunday's game.

* Confirmed Out: Henderson, Mane, Ings, Van Dijk, Austin

Liverpool have failed to beat Southampton for four games in a row now (3 defeats, 1 draw), but with any luck, that negative trend will be arrested this weekend. Probable formation:

------------ Mignolet
Clyne --- Lovren - Matip --- Milner
----- Can ---- Lucas -- Wijnaldum
- Firmino -- Sturridge -- Coutinho

In my view, if Sturridge is fit, there's absolutely no excuse to leave him on the bench for this game. Klopp praised Sturridge this week for his 'wonderful' cameo against Watford, so why not reward him with a start against Southampton?

^ Sturridge: £40m-rated. Dec 2016: Hailed as 'fantastic' by Lee Dixon.
