Agent Confirms: 'Excellent' €24m Madrid sensation wanted by Liverpool has decided that he 'wants to stay in Spain'

The Agent of 'excellent' Liverpool target Theo Hernandez has provided an update on the young full-back's future, and it's not good news for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

In March, a report on Spanish radio network Cadena Ser claimed that Liverpool asked Atletico Madrid about signing 19-year old Hernandez (currently on loan at Alaves), and on Friday Cadena Ser further claimed:

"Liverpool have offered Hernandez a €5m salary, which is five times what he earns at Atletico Madrid. ".

When asked today about Hernandez's future, however, his agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon told Foot Mercato:

"Many teams follow him [Hernandez] but we have not decided yet. He wants to stay in Spain."

Barcelona and Real Madrid have both reportedly made offers for Hernandez, and if he wants to 'stay in Spain', then it's unlikely Liverpool will be able to compete with those two heavyweights.

In my view, it's no big loss. In a probable Champions League year, the priority for the left-back position is (or should be) an older, more experienced player, and Hernandez is a teenager with less than 30 senior games to his name.

That said, Liverpool are also chasing Ryan Sessegnon, who at the age of 16, is 3 years younger than Hernandez, so it looks like Klopp is targeting young players for the position.

* Buyout clause: €24m
