Massive Transfer: Liverpool Reps make secret contact to sign 'extraordinary' £50m goal-machine

Liverpool have reportedly taken concrete steps towards sealing a summer deal for one of France's most prolific strikers.

Liverpool are reportedly among the favourites to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, and French journalist Julien Laurens claimed:

"He [Lacazette] will go to England. Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham, I don't know. You will have to pay around £40m or £50m."

Now, according to The Mirror:

"[Liverpool] Reps have sounded out Lyon and made it clear the Reds admire him [Lacazette] greatly, though the club is reluctant to make their interest public, given the rivalry they face."

Lacazette will definitely be available this summer. Last month, he confirmed:

“The right moment has arrived to leave. This summer I will need a change of scenery and discover something else, still with the idea of advancing and progressing in terms of football and as a person".

Lacazette's creative stats for the last 4 seasons:

* 103 goals/24 assists [127] in in 170 apps (One every 109 mins)

* 20+ goals every season for the last four years.

* This season: 30 goals/assists in 31 apps (One every 81 mins)

This deal is a no-brainer, but Lacazette has previously made it clear that he wants to play Champions League football, and right now, there's no guarantee that Liverpool will finish in the top four.

Given Klopp's pedigree, it's surely inconceivable that the Reds will go two years under his stewardship without Champions League qualification....right?

* Hailed by Thierry Henry as 'extraordinary'
