Shock Transfer: Liverpool hero urges Klopp to sign 'world-class' €76m superstar. Better than Mane?

Ex-Red Stan Collymore has urged Liverpool to make a shock move for one of the Premier League's few 'world-class' talents.

Chilean talisman Alexis Sanchez is reportedly on the outs at Arsenal, and in his column for The Mirror this week, Collymore - who'll forever be revered for that stunning injury-time winner against Newcastle back in 1996 - insisted:

"Liverpool [should] go and put in a bid for Alexis Sanchez. I could see...Jurgen Klopp making him his top man".

Sanchez rejected a move to Anfield during Brendan Rodgers' reign, and when asked why Liverpool lost out on the deal, Rodgers claimed:

“Geography dictated where he wanted to go. It wasn’t a lack of ambition. The player and his family wanted to live where they did. He’s a fantastic player, but it was not to be”.

Sanchez offered a different take:

"I came here to win the league, and the Champions League. Arsenal plays very well, which fits my style. That is why I moved here"

Well, since signing for Arsenal, Sanchez has won neither the league nor the Champions League, and I doubt it'd be any different if he'd chosen to sign for Liverpool.

With Jurgen Klopp now at the helm, it's possible that Liverpool might be a more attractive destination, but in light of his ambitions to 'win the league and the Champions League', I suspect that Sanchez will see the Reds as a sideways move.

If he stays in the Premier League, the most likely destinations are (arguably) Chelsea, and Man City, but it seems unlikely that Arsenal will sell their star player to a direct rival.

Personally, I would absolutely love to see Sanchez sign for Liverpool; the club needs some South American steel, energy, and never say die attitude, and Sanches - like Luis Suarez - is the perfect embodiment of that precious footballing ideal.

Juventus and PSG are current favourites to sign Sanchez, with Liverpool coming in at a distant 16-1.

'Barnes...Rush...Barnes. Still John Barnes! Collymore closing IIIINNNNN!!' - Still gives me goosebumps.
