Liverpool are reportedly planning a summer move for one Real Madrid's central defenders.
According to Spanish newspaper OK Diario today:
* Jürgen Klopp wants to sign Madrid centre-half Nacho Fernandez, who available for €20m.
* Klopp is impressed with the Nacho's performances this season, and believes he can 'solidify' Liverpool's defence.
Some info about Nacho:
* 27-year old centre-back, who can also play at right-back. Contract expires: 2020
* 99 apps for Madrid in the last 4.5 season (Averages 25 games a year). 5 apps for Spain.
* This Season: 20 apps (averaging 82 mins playing time per game)
* Injury History: Never suffered an injury, which is impressive for a 27-year old.
* ESPN Scouting Report: "Nacho is a defensive jack of all trades, a master of none. He lacks the pace to be an effective full-back in Real's tactical model and suffers from occasional lapses in concentration when deployed in the middle".
* Oct 2016: Hailed by Real boss Zinedine Zidane for his 'phenomenal' performances.
Liverpool are in desperate need of a new centre-back, but Nacho is genuine Madridista: born and bred in Madrid, and he's spent 10+ years on the club's books. Clearly, he's happy to be a back-up player, and why not? He gets to play for his hometown team, and compete for the biggest trophies every single year.
Plus, with the greatest respect, after spending his entire life in sunny Madrid, I sincerely doubt Nacho will uproot his family, and leave behind 27-years of friends and family infrastructure to start a new life in the (comparatively) grim, and rainy North-West of England.
