Disaster for Klopp: 'Excellent' £20m Liverpool star may have serious knee injury; ligament damage; scan today?

One of the few positives for Liverpool over the last couple of weeks is that Klopp has had a fully-fit squad at his disposal, but it now looks like this brief vacation from injuries is over.

Dejan Lovren missed out on Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Hull (something for which he's probably grateful!) and prior to the game, LFC confirmed:

"Dejan Lovren will miss today's game due to a knee injury".

Lovren doesn't appear to have recovered from the injury, and according to the Liverpool Echo:

"Lovren will be assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff today [and] a decision will be taken on whether he needs a scan to establish whether there is any ligament damage".

This is Lovren's 7th injury since signing for the Reds, and in that time, he's spent 100 days on the sidelines, and missed 22 games. The problem is, Lovren always seems to suffer a niggling injury when he's built up some good momentum, and his absence means often disrupts a settled defensive unit.

Combine with Joel Matip's niggling injuries (10 games missed already this season), and it's clear why Liverpool need to sign a robust new centre-half in the summer. Hopefully, Lovren won't have ligament damage as that will definitely mean a long spell on the sidelines.
