Contact Made: Liverpool plan shock transfer for 'fabulous' £15m attacker who plays with Luis Suarez

Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprise move for one of Brendan Rodgers' former transfer targets.

According to an alleged exclusive this week from Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato:

"Liverpool are planning a summer move for Middlesbrough attacker Gaston Ramirez, and have already made informal contact with the club to discuss a possible transfer".

Liverpool reportedly submitted an offer for Ramirez back in 2012, and at the time, The Mirror claimed:

"Liverpool are close to signing Bologna’s Uruguayan winger Gaston Ramirez for £16m".

Ramirez ended up at Southampton instead, and since then, he's produced very little for the Saints, Hull, and Middlesbrough. Stats for all three clubs combined (2012-Present):

* 33 goals/assists in (One every 185 mins).

* Averaged just 4 goals a year for the last 4.5 seasons.

* Never scored more than 5 Premier League goals in a single season.

* 42 apps for the Uruguay national team, but yet to score a single goal (!)

Ramirez's injury history is also a huge concern, and since signing for Southampton in 2012, the Uruguayan spent 245 days on the sidelines with various injuries, and missed 34 games in the process.

This rumour has to be nonsense as there's surely no way Jurgen Klopp will spend money on an injured-ravaged player (who's currently injured!) with such average end product...right?

* Hailed by Garth Crooks as 'fabulous'. £15m-rated
