Rumours are swirling around about a possible injury to Sadio Mane. Do Liverpool fans need to worry
During Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Chelsea last night, 'fantastic' Mane was captured on camera with his right knee heavily strapped with what looked like ice packs.
Mane came on for the last 15 minutes of the match, and when asked after the game to clarify the situation, Jurgen Klopp told reporters:
"I didn't ask until now but when he came into the dressing room, I saw I don't know exactly what it was, but I had a look at it and said, 'Oh my God, what's happened?'. [He said] 'All good, all good'. Recovery, prevention - cold, hot [packs]. There are no problems".
If a player needs cold packs on his knee then there's obviously a problem. It may be minor, or - Klopp suggests - a form of prevention, but there's still something necessitating the application of a hot/cold pack.
Mane didn't make much of an impression on the game, but he barring any exacerbation of whatever issue he currently has, he should be good to go for this weekend's trip to Hull City.
On the subject of Saturday's game: Hull City are currently rooted to the bottom of the table, and with second worst defensive record in the league. On paper, this should be a comfortable victory for Liverpool, but as the recent defeat against Swansea shows, nothing can be taken for granted in the Prem (and Swansea have a worse defensive record than Hull!)
* Mane: Described by Danny Murphy as a superstar'. €60m-rated (CIES)
