Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on one of Hull City's midfield players.
In his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Klopp enthused:
"A lot of good players are in much better shape now [than earlier in the season]. Tom Huddlestone was outstanding [against Man Utd], but when he played here it was very different".
I have to concur with Klopp here. Having watched Man Utd draw with Hull (in the hope of seeing Rooney et al crash and burn), Huddlestone had a fantastic game, and showed yet again how an an in-form DM can positively impact a team. I still remember Huddlestone being linked with a move to LFC during Roy Hodgson's reign. In November 2011, the Daily Mail claimed:
"Liverpool are weighing up a move for Tom Huddlestone. Damien Comolli took Huddlestone to Spurs and is interested again".
In the weeks following Liverpool's alleged interest, Huddlestone suffered three knee injuries in a row, and spend 310 days on the sidelines, so thank heavens this deal didn't go through (!) On a related note: Hull may be 19th in the league, but there are some warning signs for Liverpool to consider:
* Hull have lost just once in their last 9 home games.
* In that time, they've beaten Man Utd, Southampton, Bournemouth, and Swansea, and drawn with Everton.
* Hull have now won three home games in a row, conceding only two goals in the process.
Clearly, there's no room for complacency.
