Anfield MegaDeal? Liverpool desperate to sign 'exceptional' €43m sensation; Klopp's top transfer target

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly already identified his top target for the summer transfer window.

Last week, Sportbild claimed that Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt was Jurgen Klopp's 'top transfer target', and according to the Liverpool Echo today:

"Julian Brandt is target numero uno for Klopp. Liverpool considered a deal in January, but [Leverkusen insisted] that the 20-year-old was not for sale in the winter window".

Some info about Brandt:

* 20-year old left-winger, who can also play on the right, or as a number 10. Contract expires: 2019. Rejected Chelsea to sign for Leverkusen.

* Leverkusen: 19 goals/22 assists (41) in 117 games (One every 154 mins). 4 apps for the German national team.

* Scouting Report (Strengths): "Strong all-round attacking game. Two-footed speed merchant. Excellent in tight spaces, and stronger than he looks".

* Sep 2014: When asked his strengths and weakness, Brandt told reporters: "Weaknesses are defensive work and heading ability. I live by my speed, I'm good with both feet, and I give everything on the pitch"

May 2015: Leverkusen Sporting Director Rudi Voller raved: "He [Brandt] is exceptional. Fast, and a great natural talent. He has many qualities that you can not learn"

It looks like this transfer rumour may actually have some legs, and whilst it would've been useful to have Brandt now (for acclimatisation purposes), Liverpool's early exit from both domestic cup competitions means the need for cover on the wings is less urgent. On a related note: Brandt's stats this season aren't very impressive:

* 3 goals/6 assists in 24 games (Goal every 574 mins. G/A every 191 mins)

* €43m-rated (CIES)
