Anfield MegaDeal: Liverpool still determined to sign 'exceptional' £40m sensation. Klopp wants transfer ASAP

Liverpool reportedly remain keen on signing one of the Bundesliga's most coveted young players.

Last week, Sportbild claimed that Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt is Jurgen Klopp's 'top transfer target', and according to the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce this week:

"Klopp is a big fan [of Brandt] and would have bought him in this window if Leverkusen had been willing to sell".

Dspite this apparent setback, Klopp is seemingly determined to sign Brandt. The Echo claims:

"Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of [Brandt] who has been scouted regularly this season, and Liverpool [will] test Leverkusen's resolve in the summer.

Some info about Brandt:

* 20-year old left-winger, who can also play on the right, or as a number 10. Contract expires: 2019. Rejected Chelsea to sign for Leverkusen.

* Leverkusen: 19 goals/22 assists (41) in 116 games (One every 149 mins). 4 apps for the German national team.

* Scouting Report (Strengths): "Strong all-round attacking game. Two-footed speed merchant. Excellent in tight spaces, and stronger than he looks".

* Sep 2014: When asked his strengths and weakness, Brandt told reporters: "Weaknesses are defensive work and heading ability. I live by my speed, I'm good with both feet, and I give everything on the pitch"

May 2015: Leverkusen Sporting Director Rudi Voller raved: "He [Brandt] is exceptional. Fast, and a great natural talent. He has many qualities that you can not learn"

It looks like this transfer rumour may actually have some legs, and whilst Brandt may turn out to be a good signing one day, Liverpool need cover on the wings *now*, and it doesn't look like Klopp has anything lined up.

* £40m-rated (CIES)
