Anfield Blow: Klopp confirms 'amazing' €53m Liverpool star is out injured until next year

After his recent ankle injury, how long will Coutinho be stuck on the sidelines?

Coutinho had a scan on Monday, and according to The Daily Mail:

"Tests have revealed the [Coutinho] will not require surgery, and could return in mid January for the game against Man Utd".

On Tuesday evening, Jurgen Klopp appeared to confirm this, when he told the BBC:

“Phil needs between five and a few weeks until we have him back. We will see. He is not in for tonight and for the next few games.”

If Klopp is correct about the recovery time, then Coutinho will miss the following nine, games:

* Bournemouth, West Ham, Middlesbrough, FA Cup 3rd round tie, Stoke, Everton, Man City, Sunderland, Southampton (EFL).

Coutinho's recovery will coincide with Sadio Mane leaving for the African Cup of Nations, which means the Reds will be without the club's two main talismen for a few games in January.

With any luck, the Reds will not pick up any further injuries to key attacking players between now and Coutinho's return.

* Coutinho: €53m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). Hailed as 'amazing' by Joel Matip.
