Should Liverpool send Joe Gomez on loan in January?
According to a recent report in The Guardian:
"Huddersfield Town’s manager David Wagner may utilise his Liverpool connections to take Joe Gomez on loan. Wagner is interested in offering Gomez much-needed game time from January".
Bournemouth are also reportedly interested in taking Gomez on loan, and Liverpool fans seem to approve of the idea. In October, I conducted a poll asking fans the question, and the results were emphatic:
* 85% of participants voted YES to a January move for Gomez.
Klopp appears to rate Gomez, and his programme notes a few weejs ago, the German enthused:
“We will look after [Gomez] because we believe him to be special and someone who has a big future with Liverpool. We believe he has all the attributes to be a top player for Liverpool".
That may be true, but after such a long time out injured, €7m-rated Gomez obviously needs game time to regain proper match fitness, and short of a catastrophic injury meltdown, there's little chance of that happening at Anfield.
As such, a loan deal appears to make sense, and with Liverpool stipulating that players must play 75% of games for their loan clubs, Gomez will potentially get plenty of action at a different club.
