Quit Anfield: 70% of Liverpool fans urge 'brilliant' €23m star to leave LFC. Game over?

Is it time for Simon Mignolet to accept the reality and quit Liverpool to further his career?

Last month, Mignolet revealed his frustration at being Liverpool's 'number two', and warned that he will not 'sit on the bench' in the long term.

A few weeks later, Mignolet further insisted:

“I’ve never been on the bench in my career. I don’t want that and I won’t accept it either. I will keep fighting to return as first-choice."

Mignolet's concerns are understandable, but unless Karius suffers major injury, or a catastrophic loss of form, the Belgian is destined to spend the rest of his Liverpool career on the bench (bar domestic cup games).

As such, is Mignolet better off biting the bullet and seeking another club? Liverpool fans certainly seem to think so. I conducted a poll last week asking that question, and the results were emphatic:

* 70% of participants voted YES to a Mignolet exit.

Karius kept another clean sheet against Southampton on Saturday, which enhanced his already impressive LFC statistics:

* 6 goals conceded in 8 games (One every 120 mins). 3 clean sheets (One every 240 mins).

As a comparison: De Gea has conceded a goal every 80 minutes, and for Cech, it's one every 90 mins. Loris and Courtois have the same record as Karius (One every 120 mins).

Game over for Mignolet?
