Anfield Nightmare: Klopp confirms 'brilliant' €54m Liverpool-duo will miss Leeds clash; reveals 'painful' injury for Firmino

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that two of Liverpool's players will definitely miss Tuesday's EFL clash wit Leeds United.

During his press conference today, Klopp provided the following injury updates:

* On Lallana: "Adam is in a very good way, close to team training but that means in the same moment that he is not ready for the [Leeds] game".

* On Sturridge: “Daniel is not in team training, so it means then it is the same [i.e. not ready for Leeds]".

Klopp also suggested that Firmino may miss out:

"Roberto we have to wait. Yesterday it [the injury] was still painful. I think it will be OK but I’m not sure at the moment".

Bad news for Lallana and Sturridge, but potentially good news for Divock Origi, Kevin Stewart, and possibly Sheyi Ojo.

Sturridge's injury is particularly frustrating as he's managed to remain consistently fit for almost a year. This new issue is a massive setback for the 'brilliant' striker, especially with Sadio Mane's impending trip to the AFCON.

It's now probable that Origi - who scored a vital goal over the weekend - will move ahead of Sturridge in the pecking order, and become Klopp's go-to guy during Mane's absence.

* Lallana: Hailed by Jurgen Klopp for his 'brilliant' performances. Sturridge/Lallana: €54m combined value (CIES Football Observatory)
